I’m thinking about putting this one on the time clock at work…
Speaking of which if I want to be half way intelligent tomorrow I’d better go to sleep.
I almost missed it… but I didn’t!
When people are mean to you, how do you handle it?
I have read all of Maurice Sendak’s books at least once, and loved almost all of them, and I have many of the ones he illustrated, all of which I do love.
There’s just something about his drawings that make me happy.
This book, Mickey In The Night Kitchen, I have read hundreds of times to my kids.
It was always Charlie’s favorite, over and over again we would sing…
MILK IN THE BATTER! MILK IN THE BATTER! WE BAKE CAKE AND NOTHINGS THE MATTER!
Mr. Sendak,
I’m sure you have gone on to a great Wild Place where you will be a King.
Thank you for leaving such wonderfulness behind for me and my children and hopefully my many future grandchildren to enjoy!
Thank you!
I can tell you that I am very happy tomorrow is my day off and I get to sleep in until the very late hour of 6:15 a.m.
I can tell you that I’m all snuggled in watching Jeopardy with my honey and the puppy.
I can tell you that I can hear the kids bickering over what to do with the last of their precious media time before bed time. The sound of them just makes me happy.
I know it doesn’t sound like much but it’s mine and I like it.
Life is good.
What make’s life good for you?
When I was a kid at bedtime, I used to make sure my entire body, except for my head, was covered by a blanket.
If any part of me was sticking out, a ghost or a pirate would come cut the exposed part off.
I hate putting my head under the covers, I can’t breath… I don’t know how I justified them not taking my head, but I did… and I was right, because it’s still on my shoulders.
Did you have a self preservation routine as a kid?
Not that kind of hooking… I thought you all knew me better then that!
Crocheting!
I’ve known how to do the basics for a long time and occasionally I would whip out some scarves for Christmas using single crochet stitches… very basic stuff.
But I have been on a bit of a self improvement kick and I thought I should probably learn how to read patterns…
So I did… it’s like knowing a secret language, being able to read crochet patterns… I like it.
I haven’t taken pictures of anything I’ve done…
*gasp* I know! Me not taking pictures!
For Christmas I made six pairs of the cutest bunny slippers ever, and of course I didn’t take pictures…
I’ve made a few hats and some bags… no pictures. *sigh*
I will start taking pictures.
Getting a picture of this one wasn’t easy, getting Cooper to stand still for a picture tonight was painful!
A viking helmet! It’s a little big for him, but he likes it that way.
Isabelle posed for me because Cooper wouldn’t sit still, finally I snatched it off his head and put it on hers…
(This is how she looks often these days… talking to friends.)
Cooper wanted his hat back so he finally sat still. Gotta do what ya gotta do!
I found this pattern on Etsy from this shop…
She has some great stuff. I can’t wait to make the other patterns I got from her…
and I WILL take pictures…
I WON’T however subject you to all of them…
ALthough I have 27 more days to get through!
SO Have you made anything or done anything crafty lately?
First post using the ipad app… I’m trying anyway, we’ll see how it turns out.
Last year the neighbor gave me a bird house. I set it on my potting table near the mudroom door, thinking we would hang it over the weekend. The next day however we had new neighbors, chickadee’s!
I posted about them but I haven’t learned how to do links on this yet.
So this year I moved the bird house across from the door by the garage hoping that a chickadee would move in again. I was surprised when I looked out the window Tuesday and saw…
Okay so i haven’t figured out how to insert the photo into a post yet… I’ll get it… :-s
I saw a robin’s nest propped against the bird house!
When I turned the porch light on Wednesday morning at 3:30 to go to work, I must have freaked it out because I haven’t seen it sitting in the nest since.
I’m a little sad about this, but I understand new mothers’ need their beauty sleep.
And that concludes day 3!
How am i doing so far?
I was very excited because I found the Xanga App for my iPad and I thought I would be able to post from it…
But alas… I am too brain challenged at the moment to figure it out.
I did however learn how to get pictures from the iPad onto Xanga… so.
This is the oven I stand in front of five days a week, for two to three hours a day, sometimes four or five hours on holidays.
It’s a little messy right there because I had just finished icing scone and frosting cinnamon rolls on the ledge and I hadn’t wiped it off yet.
Oven stats: It holds 24 sheet pans if I load it up, usually I only have 18 in it at a time, I rotate things in and out.
Lately, I have been eyeballing other commercial ovens covetously… it’s starting to concern me. :-S
This is some of what I bake in the fancy oven. I didn’t do any of the breads, just the sweets.
As I’m writing this it occurs to me that I didn’t get a shot of the sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes and the challah, I bake all of those too. Ah well, I have 29 more posts left to do that in!
What has been your favorite job?
First day of May! This is my month…. I’m going to challenge myself to do a post every day this month. The trick is going to be finding something interesting enough to post about. Well, I failed that part for today… I guess there’s nowhere to go but up!
What would you think is interesting enough to post about?
I am turning 40 in less than a month. Panic is setting in.
When I turned 18, I sat on my bed and cried. When my Mom came in to comfort me and asked why I was crying I told her it was because I was SO OLD… Yeah, she laughed.
This year I go back and forth between wanting to cry and excitement… I am entering a new frontier…
What age made you sit up and take stock of your life?
