  • I tried… really I did.

I tried to be happy and excited about turning 40…

I did, but today for the first time I am feeling a bit glum.

Hopefully I will work through it.

My honey and some friends are taking me out to dinner tomorrow at one of the restaurants I really enjoy and I get a nice day just to veg, maybe go to a movie…

    I will get through this blue stage… I think I can, I think I can…

  • Closing up house

I’ve been helping my parents, aunt, and uncle clear out my grandparents house today and yesterday.
Yesterday when I got home at around 7, my hubby had dinner ready for me, I sat down when I walked in the door and almost fell asleep sitting at the table. I guess that’s what happens when you get up at three in the morning and then don’t take a nap all day. Let’s just say blogging wasn’t a priority at that point in my day… I beleive the order was food, shower, sleep!
That’s okay though it was a good tired, we got so much done and it was fun, looking for treasure and uncovering stories. I discovered a few fun things about my grand parents too.
I think I have enough to get two or three blogs out of it at least.
Have you done something lately that has left you feeling acomplished?

    I am tired…

    Life is good.

  • Before I die I want to…

    1.bucket list :

A list of things to do before you die. Comes from the term “kicked the bucket”.

    So…

I believe I’ve mentioned that I’m coming up on FORTY… in fact in  less than a week now.

Getting older has got me thinking about what I want to accomplish in my life, my bucket list.

It occurs to me that I have never  actively tried to achieve the things on my list.

Everything that I have on my list, that I’ve done, I’ve just kind of fallen into.

     :-S

I am going to start working towards fulfilling my list.

Isn’t that the point of the list in the first place? To TRY and fulfill it, to fulfill my life?

Yes, I will share my list, but not now… I can get another post out of it!

Are you actively pursuing the things on your Bucket List???

  • I’m taking a break from Glee to post this, that’s what I call commitment!

  • As I drifted off…

I remember thinking I would do my post in a minute and then that’s all she wrote (or rather didn’t write!)  I was out like a light.

Today is a new day though and I am getting right back on the blogging horse!

I did finally get a YouTube account so that I could share Cooper’s song.

His actual audition was so much better, I think he really liked having the microphone and the crowd to play to.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7UuxYs-ta8&feature=youtu.be

My favorite part is at 4.24…

After struggling with his principles,he has picked his new song,

Downeaster Alexa… also by Billy Joel.

I’ll let you know how the talent show goes!

Do you have a special talent?

  • Feeling pleased with myself!

We got a lot done today!
I headed to work at 3:30 this morning, to bake for the first farmers market of the year, went very well.
Finally got the giant pile of wood that was the aftermath of that freak storm all moved and stacked in the neighbors yard.
Filled the outside tank for the turtles.
Got all of the deck chairs and patio umbrella out of the garage and set up.
I fixed a stained glass panel for my Mom for mothers day… I should have done it a year ago…
    Cleaned my studio a little.
Folded three loads of laundry and, the hard part, got the kids to put it away.
Ben fixed the outdoor hose faucet…
Ben and I took our evening walk with Molly which we have managed to do for the last four days in a row…
Made crab cakes for dinner, they were good, but not great I don’t think I will add it to the dinner rotation.
    Whew!
I am feeling very satisfied, can you tell?
When you get a lot done, do you feel satisfied? Or just tired?

  • An excersise in frustration

Cooper auditioned for the school talent show yesterday. I tried taping it, I messed it up and didn’t record… So today I convinced him to sing the song again so that I could post it and now it won’t upload.

    I am frustrated.

I would wait and tape him at the talent show, but he won’t be singing the same song… Which I knew…

The teacher’s gushed about how wonderful he was… and he was really good…

(Especially after seeing some of the other acts…  shhh… )

But they can’t allow him to sing his song of choice…

    Piano Man by Billy Joel.

I don’t know why, but they seem to think that a 7 year old singing a song about playing piano in a bar… where the microphone smells like a beer and the businessmen slowly get stoned…isn’t appropriate…

    :-S

When he sets his mind on something it is hard, really hard to get him to change it!

After much drama and tears… Where he refused to change the words because “it was against his principals” and many “You just don’t understand, Mom!”

Ben has helped him find something different for the actual show.

I have to say that even though  I felt like it was a Little Miss Sunshine moment…

It is so fun watching him sing it and every time he does it still makes me smile.

Ben’s going to see if he can fix the video for me… So maybe I can show you guys and you can chuckle too.

I hope this makes up for my laziness yesterday.

Tomorrow is the first farm market of the year so I should hit the hay.

This was the first time any of my kids have gone out for the talent show and I have never been in one.

     I found it fascinating!

Have you ever been in or been to a talent show?

  • Uuuugh… To tired. Must sleep.
