  • Light House 3 & 4 and remembering childhood

The last two lighthouses are ones I’ve posted pictures of before.

This is one you can be lighthouse keeper of.

    Mackinaw Lighthouse

I took this shot when I visited the island with Beth this summer… Great time.

And to finish off the weekend posts I leave you with this picture of Charlie…

    Calling the Waves

Oh to have the joy and imagination of childhood again.

One of my favorite things about being a parent is experiencing my childhood  over again through them.

Why have kids if you aren’t going to enjoy them, right?

What’s a great memory from YOUR childhood?

  • I remember trying very hard to convince my mother that if only she would leave me alone in the ocean and not get out, I would turn back into a mermaid, which I knew was my rightful self. **sigh** She never would and now I fear it’s too late. I’ll be in human form forever.

I love that picture of charlie! excellent!

  • Wonderful pictures — it’s always good to see them again!

  • I love your pictures…as always.

I remember my sister and I being spoon fed our dinner on Sunday’s while playing in the bath tub taking a bath…those were the days…when we were little and free…

  • @k8tthelate - It’s NEVER too late to be a mermaid! At least in our hearts!

  • Charlie must have watched that movie with Tom Hanks on that island.

  • I think I am still living in my childhood… except when I have to go to work… that sucks like a Hoover 2000… It reminds me of having to go to school… that sucked like and anteater…

  • Ahh Ang,gorgeous!
Childhood memory…camping on the long porch all summer,we even had  small TV out there and enjoyed the cool creek at night.

  • looks like charlie’s on an episode of survivor or something ;)

  • That last picture expresses such joy. I love it!

  • I’ve decided that for better or for worse, I’m still connected to some of the imaginative elements that were hallmark of my childhood days.  It gets harder and harder to hold on to them.

  • Beautiful pictures .  I like lighthouses.  We have many here,

  • Sleeping out side at the farm and swimming in Tom’s pond are fond memories of mine.

  • I love the bright colored chairs in the bottom of the first photo!

I’d say, my favorite memory is days spent on the beach with my sister and my cousins.

  • I love that photo of Charlie! You are right — it is so much fun to play with our kids and to see things through their eyes. I remember when our oldest was 4, and we took her to Marine Land. I think I enjoyed watching the wonder on her face more than the whales and seals! I wish digital cameras were around then. Blessings on your week, my friend!

  • I remember going to Mackinaw Island when I was a kid and we lived in Charlevoix. Don’t remember the lighthouse. Perhaps I should visit again as an adult?

  •   My Uncle John had a goal to visit all the light houses in the US. I think he did too. Everyone gave him really neat light house gifts. He has one on his porch. I hope one day he can go back home to it. Someday I’d like to visit the lighthouses in your pictures.

  • Boy, you really need to publish a book of your images. Your son summons up imagery from Where the Wild Things Are.

I think you are magnificent. And you are 1000 percent correct. Why have children if you can’t enjoy them. They pick up on that too. I think it gives kids tons of confidence knowing that their parents enjoy them.
Rolling in an old refrigerator card board box through a wooden area behind my backyard (it was the pipeline) pretending we were in a tank. On either side were brush and tall grass.

  • you take the best pictures!!!!

  • I so want a poster size print of ‘calling the waves’

  • omg that last pic is so awesome!!!!

  • Great Great photo of Charlie!  One of my favorite memories is of swimming in Rock Creek Lake.  Peace

  • Beautiful lighthouses!

I remember how in childhood little stuff like jumping off the couch onto the living room floor all day felt like an adventure. :)

  • @Shirlann - Your always welcome here! It’s an hour and a half away…

@siennachartreuse - That’s what I thought too! Definitely a Wild Thing. We had an old fridge box too! That was THE best toy. I can just imagine you as Tank Girl! lol

  • Yes totally agree. Too many parents spend too little time with their kids, mainly because they want to earn more to provide a better standard of living. So much preparation for the future, but what about the present?

  • You live in a really beautiful area with so much to do and see!

  • a BEACH memory, is the tide pools near Moro Bay, S CA.   awesome!  creatures in there.  amazing.  And our dog running around everywhere.  Lovely lovely
