She’s my baby girl and she is twelve!
I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful person in my life.

First day of May! This is my month…. I’m going to challenge myself to do a post every day this month. The trick is going to be finding something interesting enough to post about. Well, I failed that part for today… I guess there’s nowhere to go but up!
What would you think is interesting enough to post about?
I am turning 40 in less than a month. Panic is setting in.
When I turned 18, I sat on my bed and cried. When my Mom came in to comfort me and asked why I was crying I told her it was because I was SO OLD… Yeah, she laughed.
This year I go back and forth between wanting to cry and excitement… I am entering a new frontier…
What age made you sit up and take stock of your life?
My Grandma turned 80 last week so my Mom and Aunt Mary threw a party!
Of course there was a ton of food and people.
and a gospel bluegrass band
It was a very nice day.
I got smart and hired one of my teenage cousins to follow the babies around
So my sister and I could just enjoy.
I have to say if that was what having a nanny is like I WANT ONE! 
When the band said “This is your 60th right Dolly!”
She responded with “DON’T you do that to me! The good thing about being this old is every year is a step closer to Heaven. I don’t want to go back…”
That’s my Grandma. 
It was a good day.

Today I am THIRTY FIVE. Thirty five is the age my Mamala froze at until she hit fifty and I was forced to look at her with different eyes. It was a hard thing to do and when I look at her there are still times I see the bright orange hair and freckles that she had in times past. Now she is fifty and fifty she will remain forever. Even though I know it’s been a few years now… I mean she wasn’t fifteen when she had me… I’m pretty sure. She is an awfully young fifty though… maybe it’s that immaturity thing we have going for us.
I wonder how my kids will look at me… Is it too much to hope that they will always see me as twenty five? Probably since I didn’t have most of them then…
Okay. I am not age obsessed believe it or not. I like who I am and the thirties have been good to me so far and I think they will just keep being great… I know they will… Some things just get better with age. I happen to be one of those things…
We celebrated my birthday last night. Ben took me to one of my Mom’s favorite restaurants… I like it too. It’s fun to go for lunch or just desert… But last night it was great.
Amical… It used to be La Amical… I guess someone decided ‘friendly’ made more sense.
We were some of the first for dinner service. That happens when you have Monsters to get in bed.
One of my favorite things is their desert case. It is so worth just going there for desert sometimes.
They used to have a chef who made the best chocolate mousse he has moved on. I miss it.
I love the creme broule… the kids like the giant chocolate and caramel covered apples.
Mmm… creme broule… with raspberries and raspberry sauce.
Okay. That was my evening…
