  • Road Trip with SeedSower

Recently I made it to The Duh to finally meet Saint Vi and to join up with Seedsower for a small side trip.

We went to the Meijer Garden in Grand Rapids.

We were headed to Chicago, but had a slight shift in plans when Wakeuplaughing posted about the Chihuly Exhibit, since Beth and I both LOVE Chihuly we had to go!

WakeUpLaughing was kind enough to come walk with us, it was a very nice surprise.

SeedSower has posted her pictures HERE

WakeUpLaughings Pictures are HERE and HERE

and  here are some of mine!

    I was mimicking THIS shot

I left my fisheye on the whole time. *sigh* I wish I hadn't, but it's a pain to change it back and forth...

Maybe I need another camera... hmmm...

I could spend a whole day there just shooting the plants.

I wish I could have gotten a better angle on this one, but I didn't think the garden would appreciate me climbing on the wall... On the way out I did notice some little kids doing it, next time maybe I should pretend not to know better.

If you have a chance to make it to the exhibit I highly recommend it!

I can't wait until Seedsower and I have our next adventure!

IS there an adventure on the horizon for you?

  • A Little More Conversation...

My husband was preparing a talk for church and he asked me my opinion about a verse he was thinking about reading.

    1Samual 19: 23-24

We then discussed how if something like this happened today it would be called insanity not prophesy.

    Charlie asked Why?

So we asked him this question...

If someone came up to you and told you that they were... say... running around in circles, because God had spoken to them and told them to, what would you think?

Charlie replied "I would think that was crazy... Why would God tell them to run in circles?"

The possibility of God having a conversation with someone  didn't seem odd to Charlie at all.

    Charlie is 11.

At what point in our lives does it become insanity if someone says God has talked to them?

  • Remembering Ethel

This winter my Aunt Ethel passed away.

She and her son, my Uncle Tom and his family, were a huge bright spot in my childhood.

For three years in a row my Sister and I had the pleasure of spending a week of our summer with her. We traveled the country side visiting her favorite places.

    little red school house

This is the school she and her sister attended as children, it has been made into a house and we went visiting there...

One of my favorite memories~ was when went to Pleva's Meat Market in Cedar.

My uncle Tom always used to say, naughty children were sent to Pleva's and made into Polish sausage Aunt Ethel almost died of embarrassment when my sister asked the butcher behind the counter where they ground up all of the bad kids.

Tomorrow is her memorial service and I am just thinking about her.

She was an incredible lady and my world is a better place because she was a part of it.

I hope you all have been or are lucky enough to have someone so special be a part of your world!

  • black capped chicks

I couldn't resist, I had to take a quick picture.

These were the little squatters that occupied the birdhouse that was temporarily sitting on my potting table.

It was great fun watching the parents go back and forth over my head as I sat on the porch reading my book.

They are long gone now, moved on to different housing.

I think Ben and I are going to hang the birdhouse in  the same spot, only over the table instead of on it...

It is worth a little gardening inconvenience to hear their little wings whooshing past my head.

It has been a great start to the summer.

I hope your's is going well!

  • Oh the Insanity!

Yesterday I saw Brett Micheals, Ozzy Osbourne and Elvis at the bowling alley...

    It was a good day.

    serious elvis

We all had a lot of fun.

My Sam Man is another year older... well almost.

My sister threw a GREAT party and was a wonderful hostess, as always.

And I got to take some fun pictures!

I am sure this Elvis will show up in fifty or sixty more different settings this year.

  • And so it begins...

I went to visit Cooper  for his Fun and Funky Field day.

After his kindergarten tug of war, standing in line waiting to wash our hands, a little girl approached Cooper.

She leaned in conspiratorially and not so quietly whispered...

"Cooper, Jordan's in the bathroom crying, don't tell anyone!"

Then she moved on to the kid standing next to us and said...

"Jordan's in the bathroom crying. DON'T TELL ANYONE."
