  • Northwestern Michigan Fair

Took my Crew to the NWM Fair yesterday!

    NWM fair carnival

It was pretty empty while we were there, the Buckley Steam Engine Show is going on now too.

    Everyone was probably there.

MY poor mom, I know she was bent in half because she didn't want to get her white pants dirty...

She's going to hate me for posting this BUT I LOVE IT!

Gotta go! Fishing Tournament to help with and then off to DETROIT!

What's on your schedule this weekend?

  • FOODIE POST

I haven't done one in awhile. This isn't exactly recent, it's from a few Detroit trips ago.

One of the things I love about Detroit is the FOOD options.

Here in Traverse City there just aren't that many  options... if you like meat and potatoes your covered.

When we go to Detroit I like getting takeout from The Sushi House.

the rest of new years eve 013.jpg

My favorite sushi place in Michigan.

This time we went in though... and we sat down... at a table... and we ordered!

    my man and a menu

It was hard to make a choice, everything there is SO GOOD!

    miso soup and salad

    I even like the sides.

I love me some Miso soup!

We finally settled on two rolls.

    farmington roll

    The Farmington  roll

(crab meat, cucumber, unagi and avocado)

    house special roll

The House Special Roll, my favorite!

(shrimp tempura, cucumber, unagi, avocado and crab meat)

I have a close up of this one, it's cute caterpillar design... but it kinda looks scary close up.

Yeah, they were very alike.  We didn't realize we had ordered almost the same thing until they came, they just sounded so good!

    Beef sukiyaki

To finish up we had a bowl of Sukiyaki Beef...

We were too stuffed for desert.

I suppose I'm reminiscing because Ben and I are off to Detroit again this weekend for his birthday.

I am sure that we will be going out to eat somewhere... somewhere of his choosing... The possibilities are endless.

Will it be Greek food? Mexican? Indian? Sushi again? Thai... I'm pretty sure it won't be Thai as he's allergic to peanuts!

What will it be I wonder... Whatever it is, it will be an adventure in eating!

    miso bowl

If you could eat any kind of food right now, what would it be?

    Is anyone else hungry?

  • Moon beams for Marsha

    morning moon and mist

Working nights has it's advantages... I get to see the moon rise and set...

    moon and wheat shafts

Whenever I see something beautiful that has to do with the heavens I think of Marsha.

Which is fitting because tomorrow is her BIRTHDAY!

But since I don't know if  I'll be awake tomorrow, I'll say it today.

mlbncsga... I LOVE being one of your morning glories!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, YOU ROCK!

  • I thought I saw a Fairy! Well, close...

We are spending a few days in Detroit with my Brother in law Mat, my beautiful Sister D and brilliant Nephew Sam.

Yesterday we went on a search for the Fairy Doors of Ann Arbor!

    HERE

The first door we found was the scariest and least expected.

    goblin door

Charlie found it and said that doesn't look like a Fairy door!

When we looked at the map we found that it isn't! It was a Goblin door... the kids wouldn't knock on it because they didn't want to get carried away by goblins.

    goblin door alone

Ironically it was the only door they didn't knock on all day!

    dancing goblin flame

I think the Goblins were spying on us,  this lamp is right by the door...

    red shoes fairy door

There were Fairy entrances all over.

    serinity fairy door

Some of the doors hung in midair.

    coffee house fairy door

There were always little gifts of money and candy left.

    knocking on the door

The kids had to knock on every one.

sam knocking on the door cooper peeking in the window

Some they could even peek inside of.

There was always another door on the other side leading to, presumably, the Land of Fairy.

This one also had a little fairy toy store in it.

    Fairy door house at library

There was a door at the Library... of course in the FAIRYTALE section!

We ran into two other families that were on the same quest for the doors and we gave a map to one other family to get them started on theirs!

We found at least five other doors but I don't want to ruin it for you if YOU ever decide to go looking.

It was nice, FREE entertainment and I loved it almost as much as the kids did, okay, maybe more.

What's the silliest thing you've ever done on vacation?

  • The King is dead. Long live the King!

    I am an Elvis fan.

Old, fat, young, thin, real or imaginary, I don't care... it's all about the myth and legend.

A couple of weeks ago Ben's work place had it's annual Jamboree.

    Elvis was there.

    Mancelona Elvis

He looked much better then the last time I saw, okay, stalked him... HERE.

(This is a local high school senior who is using the money he gets from his gig to fill his college fund.)

The kids and I are in THE Motor City for a few days for fun and frolick.

My honey had to stay home, I miss him already.

    Are you an Elvis fan?

Better yet! Have you ever seen or channeled Elvis?

  • Feeling Blah, so sending myself flowers...

    brown eyed susans wildflower field

I have never seen a field so full of so many different kinds of flowers.

It was very cool, but not much fun to walk through, kinda scratchy.

    brown eyed susans closer

Brown eyed Susans and Daisies always make me think of my Aunt Mary.

Well I suppose I should get back to the laundry, the kids and I are leaving for Detroit tomorrow.

    Today I feel OVERWHELMED.

Ever have one of those days?
