barns

  • Got out and about and took some pictures today.

    Barn us31

The sky was doing some odd things today.

Mom said it looked like the sky had cellulite.

I have more, but I don’t want to bore you.

If you want to see more…

    HERE.

If you want to know WHY…

    Go HERE.

Did you have a good day?

  • Another Perfect Cloud Day

Someone requested autumn color, but I just haven’t been in the mood to take pictures…

    I tried yesterday, I took this one…

    andom cloud day 015.jpg

Not wonderful, and uninspired, but you can see the colors…

    THEN today happened.

I love it when the sky has perfect clouds.

So Cooper and I went for a drive and took some pictures.

    andom cloud day 054.jpg

The colors outside were amazing today, everything was so bright.

    andom cloud day 048.jpg

See what I mean about the clouds.

    andom cloud day 067.jpg

    andom cloud day 060.jpg

So we were driving along and I thought I saw some grey deer in a field…

Grey deer? Then I noticed they only had two legs…

    andom cloud day 038.jpg

Sandhill cranes… taking a break! I only got three pictures of them before they spooked.

Something about Cooper screaming LOOK MOMMY! LOOK!

Out the window scared them I think.

    andom cloud day 039.jpg

    SO they were fun.

I took of course a few barns, I’ll share them here and there I’m sure.

This one was my favorite today though. I just thought the rake was cool.

    barn with rake3.jpg

Hope that satisfies the color craving for anyone who isn’t getting to see the changes yet.

I will have more inspiring days coming,

Seems that there aren’t many lately… I think it’s just the season change blahs…

    Still adjusting my LIFE LIST…

I’ll post it soon, It’s good to have goals.

  • Feeling better… I think… yeah, pretty sure, um…

Cooper and I went and had lunch with my Honey today.

I felt a little better after that.

    Things are still questionable though.

The colors are getting so beautiful here.

I only stopped for two shots on the way home though.

    This one.

    barns 016.jpg

The barn is still a bit too dark I think. I just can’t get the light right on this one because it keeps bouncing off the roof. UGH… It has now become a mission to get it right!

    This one.

    barns 003.jpg

I had to stand on the bumper of the car to get it.

I was to tired to walk into the bushes and look for a better angle so this is the one I took.

I’ll go back on another day and see if I can make it better too.

Thank for all of the very nice thoughts guys.

I think I did get it from you Beth   I AM KIDDING!

    Be safe.

Gunstarhero1988 and I have been working on something fun…

    bringing it to you tomorrow!

  • WILD AND CRAZY WEEK

It has been an incredibly fun and exhausting week. I didn’t do the fireworks tonight, instead pawning the big kids off on Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt D. Right now I am lamenting the missed photo opportunity, but my head hurts.

I’m a little behind blogging on the crazy adventures we’ve had, but I have finally gotten a couple of loads of laundry done and that has to count for something… (I can hear the collective sighs of relief that there will be no naked Ang running around…)

OK… GIANT PILE OF POOP!   We were caching in the Hoosier Valley, an area East of Traverse City, and way out in the woods. Caching with four children, two of them, “The Threes’” my sister calls them, although Coop has yet to reach that dignified number., often have to be picked up over things or unstuck from sticks. The kids and I were walking in an area my SISTER had directed us too… there was a strange looking mound of grass and pine needles… my sister told the kids to wait for me to cross over it. Did they listen? Of course not.

Isabelle and Charlie went over, sinking slightly and the babies followed. Me close behind trying to lift them over when at exactly the same time, Isabelle said “Something smells like poop.”  my feet sank into the huge pile of SHIT… excuse my language, that someone had dumped on the side of the road in the only clear path to get into the woods.  I believe I was yelling ”OH GROSS! DISGUSTING! GET ME OUT!!” or it may have just been continuous gagging and guttural noises, all I know is that I planted one foot firmly back on the ground without a flip flop on it. Said flip flop was stuck in the pile… I was stunned standing there my feet covered in the most disgusting,  foul, gross, stuff ever.

Now… I have grown up around farms, and I love to garden, so manure is not something I find offensive, and the smell of a freshly doused field, I am well familiar with and don’t mind in passing, but I have never wanted to wade through it or coat my feet in it. I remember screaming at my sister as she continued to laugh and giggle at my horrified face and utter disgust… “THAT”S IT!!!! I’M TAKING THE DAMN BOOTS!!!” As she stood there in hers, laughing and trying to convince me she really wasn’t laughing at me but with me… oh NO… she was laughing at me.

So luckily, as always, my sister was prepared and after rinsing in a mud puddle and wiping myself down with paper towels and baby wipes, flip flops stored in a plastic bag and windows rolled down, we headed to the river where I washed my flip flops and off we went. After she had gotten the geocache of course.

When I got home I immediately took a shower and scalded my flip flops in hot soapy water, just to make myself feel better.

I will feel absolutely no guilt now when she comes home after her trip next weekend and I have absconded with the boots.

I find also that since I am taking more and more pictures there are a lot of place having boots like that will come in handy.

One VERY nice thing about my Little Sis (one of many) is she has no problem stopping for me when I ask her to so I can take pictures… It has been very cool. Here are two more barns we discovered while on the way to her geocaches.

    geocaching and round barns 032.jpg

This one we spotted just after the incident above…

    I photographed it barefoot.

    geocaching and round barns 107.jpg

There is a round barn on Red School road that I like to photograph.

They are currently replacing part of the roof on it.

I asked D if we could check the progress.

We discovered it was a part of a cache that led us to this barn.

Another round one I had no idea was there.

Hope all is well with you guys.

I have now blogged my gross disgusting experience and I will push it to the back of my mind.

Next time I will have some very cool boots. :-b

    Well,

    What do you guys think?

  • What do I do when I am tired beyond belief but don’t want to sleep?

Well first I drink the one bottle of caffeine that I will allow myself today.

Then I get out of the house so I don’t take a nap.

Cooper and I took an early lunch to Ben.

We sat outside and enjoyed the sun and the flowers.

Brownies pizza party and a day out 092.jpg

    I love Iris’s.

Brownies pizza party and a day out 090.jpg

Then on the way home we take a side road along the Boardman River.

We took a walk along the river.

Brownies pizza party and a day out 120.jpg

Found some beautiful wild flowers to go with the planted ones.

I took a ton more pictures by the river but I’ll spare you those… for now…

We drove by the Circle H Ranch and Ranch Roudolph.

    Took pictures of the horses.

    orses running2.jpg

Of course I had to take barn pictures.
So here are a couple of those.

And you all know if I can get a picture of a barn and of flowers…

    So much the better!

barn poppies.jpg poppies at Gruelous barn.jpg

Which do you think is better?

    Left or right?

I’ll leave you with a field of poppies.

Mrs. Grouleu planted these a LONG time ago…

I wish I knew how she did it.
It is Poppies now and in a few weeks it will be the most GOURGEOUS hollyhocks.

One of my all time favorite flowers.

So you know where I’ll be when their in bloom taking pictures of the barn with Hollyhocks.

For now I’ll leave you with a field of poppies.

Which picture did you like the best?

    Why?

I know two posts in one day… I told you I’m trying to stay AWAKE…

  • I imagine that everyone loves the area that they come from. Whether you stay there your entire life or not there is probably one thing about the place your from that will always invoke good memories.

When I lived in Utah I found that it wasn’t for me. There are things of such beauty there, the Arches, and the mountains, so many other things, but it was never home. I missed the shades of green and deciduous trees. I missed the water so much I can’t imagine living in a place with out some type of water near by ever again.

Something else I missed that I didn’t even know I missed until I returned home was the barns.  In Utah I saw no barns, in fact every where we traveled in the Western part of the country I can’t remember seeing one barn. They are probably there, who knows, I didn’t see them.

Lately I have developed an obsession with barns. We drive down the road and I will point out several to Ben hoping he will pull over to let me take a picture, occasionally he does. If he did it every time, we would always be late to wherever we were  headed. I make mental notes on where they are located and what is near by. “Oh that one has a bank of tiger lilies that will be open soon.” or ” That will look great when the sun sets.” They crowd my head waiting for the day when Cooper and I can take a drive and capture them so I can hide them in a computer file.

My Mother in Law collects barn pictures so I take the photos under the rouse of giving them to her, but I think Ben might be on to me…  I like them for myself, they make me feel good. I will probably never hang them on my wall, but I will occasionally open their files and peek at the images, just so I can get that sense of home.

mushroom hunting 063.jpg This barn is in Empire near the Sleeping Bear Dunes. At the top of the dune when you look down you can see it and Glen Lake. It’s so beautiful. Some day I’ll make the effort to climb it again and get a picture.
