  • This year we decorated a room for the church trick or treating party.

I use the word decorated loosly. We grabbed a giant spider and a huge wad of spider webbing and spread it all over the room.

As we sat there waiting for the kids Ben decided he would wrap himself (okay maybe I helped a little)  in webbing, stick the giant spider on his neck and slump in a chair in the corner.

When the kids walked into the room ducking under webs to get to me and the candy…

Ben would quietly say “Help me… Help me…” from the corner behind them.

Most looked at him, giggled nervously and left.

Near the end, of the treating part an older boy came into the room…

Seeing and hearing Ben in the corner, He said “Now that I have my candy do I help him?”

As he reached for the spider on Ben’s neck Ben lunged at him with a giant roar.

The poor kid jumped back a foot and left the room laughing and gasping all at the same time saying…

“I was only trying to help!”

I was laughing so hard there were tears in my eyes.

The moral of the story is~ Be careful when you help a wounded animal…

    Or

A husband who will wrap himself in spider webbing and scare the little children for your entertainment is PRICELESS!

I hope you all had at least as much fun as we did!

  • I dressed up as a faceless ghoul and sat on the porch, handing out candy, and didn’t say anything, no matter what the kids did or said. Some of the little ones were to scared to come up, but I had some pretty funny encounters. One little girl started talking to me and telling me all kinds of stuff and when her mom came up, she told her, “Mom that guy can’t talk to me ’cause he doesn’t have a face!”  Good for Ben for having fun with the kids.

  • @WakeUpLaughing - HA! Good for YOU! I love seeing the adults having as much fun as the kids.

  • Glad you all enjoyed your Halloween. Kids are so cute sometimes!

  • If I had been that kid, I would have been SO MAD at him for faking. I didn’t (and don’t!) take lightly to being scared. I know that if I had tried to conquer my fear to help someone I thought was hurt, I would have been livid to discover otherwise!

But I still think it’s funny to read about; I even read this aloud to my husband, who laughed uproariously.

  • yeah halloween is to much fun!!!!!!   i enjoy it with the kids!!   the candy is now every where and daddy loves chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is nice to remain joyful !! It was a “frightening ” Halloween .
    Love

  • Ah yes the joys of frightening little children for entertainment and amusement! Gosh how I miss the olden days, when I would take all the little scouties out into the wilderness and tell them stories about bears and wolves and mountain lions… then, when they wouldn’t shut up in the middle of the night, I’d make deep guttoral growling noises outside their tents… You know something? I used to scare the adults too!

  • My kid would need to go for therapy if that happened to him!

  • Did the kids get your movie reference?  Funny story.  I’ve scared a few kids — mostly my own — over the years.

  • LOL that’s funny ^__^
