A Little More Conversation…
My husband was preparing a talk for church and he asked me my opinion about a verse he was thinking about reading.
We then discussed how if something like this happened today it would be called insanity not prophesy.
Charlie asked Why?
So we asked him this question…
If someone came up to you and told you that they were… say… running around in circles, because God had spoken to them and told them to, what would you think?
Charlie replied “I would think that was crazy… Why would God tell them to run in circles?”

The possibility of God having a conversation with someone didn’t seem odd to Charlie at all.
Charlie is 11.
At what point in our lives does it become insanity if someone says God has talked to them?

Well in my eyes, it is never insane if you get a message from the G man. See I think we all will eventually get that message from him and we will either obey or not even listen. It is in our human nature.
I think it is insanity when someone says they got a message from God about someone else…and proceeds to tell “someone else” what God said about him/her…as in “God told me you should (or shouldn’t) blah, blah, blah…”
Someone once told me, that the feeling that you have that you shouldn’t be doing something is the devil talking and the feeling that you have about something that is right is God.
I think God talks to all of us, we just don’t listen.
There are so many quixotic stories like this in the Old Testament. Go figure.
Angie – I have written and deleted my reply to your question three times. I try to avoid talking politics and religion. One reason for this is that I’m definitely not an expert on either subject. Far from it. So, I’m just going to say, “I believe”, and leave it at that. I love Charlie’s answer – I think he got it right. Peace
I love Charlie’s reaction too… that it did not phase him that God has conversations. I just wish more people would listen to Him.
Insanity is when you believe God is talking to you, but without any purpose. God has spoken to me. Regretably, I haven’t always listened.
I see what you mean.
I even find myself arguing with God -that’s insanity. lol
Oh good question. How do you know? “Fruits of the Spirit” would be a good indicator to show that someone were in true communion with God. But at the same time, anyone that has a true communion with God would be wise to keep it to themselves unless specifically asked to share the experience by God himself. The majority of people that have a true communion with God know not to talk about it.
Someone with psychiatric problems would most likely talk about their ‘communion’ while expressing a very egocentric point of view, and they would most likely babble about it incessantly and obsessively, since, in fact, their experience is coming from themselves, and not God.
Example: While I was in Australia, a man got up in a church meeting claiming he would be one of the prophets killed in Israel then resurrected 3 days later. He spoke about it from a very self important perspective, and spoke in a very grand manner. Of course, he was ban from giving talks in church after that. LOL!!!
but if you’re a believer or a person of faith, then God speaks to you in a variety of ways, doesn’t He? i’m not religious, but it doesn’t sound crazy to me. i’m sure the message gets across in all kinds of different ways. i don’t imagine i would just be conversing with Him out loud on the street. i guess that would seem crazy. but don’t you think He talks to people thru their hearts and their minds?
You are lucky Ang to have such Charly . His faith is pure and high .
What for us ? I think God speaks to us but not necessarily with a human voice and in our language. . We feel what he says or wants to . But do we answer ?
Love
Michel
Children surely make one think…
And… He… walks with me, and He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
