That is scary! How can kids already not know how cassette tapes worked?
While waiting in line for a ride at Epcot (which is supposed to be all about the future, but since it was built in 1984, the future is kind of now….), I tried to get my kids to understand that we used to have to talk on phones attached to the wall. No cordless phones, no cell phones, no bluetooth headsets. They didn’t get it. Aaaahhhh!
Like everything else ,I finally got a walkman after the fact, like at a yard sale!
It’s amazing to me that Walkman didn’t last 30 years (or probably even 20!). Progress — hmmph!
Got rid of mine YEARS ago. LOL I think Nicole still has one!!
I never had a walk man. SIGH…. Truthfully? ….when I was a kid, they had not yet been invented. Yeah…. old Mae. Now I do have a tiny little thing with millions of songs on it that my sister gave me, but the earplugs keep popping out of my ears, which is annoying!
I had a Walkman! I also had the Footloose soundtrack!!!!
I also had a pile of carefully recorded “mix” tapes to use in my Walkman…. Alas, the mix tape is a lost art.
@DanishDoll - I can’t stand the ear buds! They are always too loud or like yours popping out all of the time, lol I am not brave enough to get a foam pair like they used to have… I am just afraid not to be stylish I guess.
@neuwifeblogs - Me too! Footloose was my first tape. I still burn mixed CD’s! IT’s fun to make playlists for someone else… WAY easier then changing the tapes and rewinding and fast forwarding… although it was fun doing too…
Angi-headsup you know Court? that good looking guy? the good stuff is coming to your town! you lucky!
My mom used to have a walkman. I’d borrow it on occassion!
holy shit. i knew it would happen sooner or later. i mean, i know the walkman is obsolete, but i feel so OLD.
