  • Self portrait, finally *whew*

    Poloroid portrait blurred

    The subject was hobbies.

I like taking Polaroids. They remind me of my childhood.

My favorite picture of my sister and I is a Polaroid taken at BK. We were celebrating my fifth birthday.

She is making that all teeth smile three year old’s do for the camera, she hates it… but it makes me happy to look at her and think that at one time she was that little kid.

Anyway, it’s one of my precious possessions.

    This was another attempt…

I think I like the top one better.

I’m still getting the hang of taking my own picture… it isn’t as easy as it seems!

Have you ever taken your own picture?

You might age yourself by admitting this, but do you have a polaroid of yourself?

To see how Seedsower blew me out of the water again…

(It’s okay, that means I have nowhere to go but up!)

    go HERE!

  • From the mouth of a little booger, I mean babe… ahem.

Tonight at dinner, Charlie, my ten year old, made juice and poured a glass for himself and one for his little brother.

Cooper, who is four and still in that, the world revolves around me stage,  threw a fit because the juice wasn’t in the glass he wanted. I corrected him with, “You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.”

This appeased him and Cooper took a drink.  I reminded him that he still hadn’t told his big brother thank you for the juice. To which he replied “But I hate it.”

“That’s not nice.” I said “You still need to say thank you.”

Cooper shook his head and put his hands over his face, “But Mom,” He said with a huge sigh “sometimes the truth hurts.”

  • Self Portrait ~ week one

    Week 1
I just got my new camera… Delia the D80…  Beth’s camera Lucy, a D90 is fairly new, so as a learning project just between ourselves, Beth and I decieded to do a self portrait challenge.
Each week we will take turns picking a subject. Beth chose this weeks subject
    “First thing in the morning.”

    blurry Ben and me

I know it’s awful… but it was FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!

    That’s one excuse… I have several others.

Like- It was the first time I used the timer…

Like- I only took four shots before I decieded to go back to sleep…
Unfortunatly this was the best of them.

Like- I said it’s going to be a learning experience…

And truthfully, the whole thing scares me more then a little.
I HATE having my picture taken, I HATE looking at myself…
But  the idea is … to get over it!
I want my kids to have goofy pictures of me when I’m gone.

What’s your phobia? and do you want to overcome it?

While I am overcoming it I’m going to subject you all to one picture of my ugly mug a week… You don’t have to look if you don’t want to.

Oh… go see Seedsowers… she is WAY cuter then I am in the morning.

  • If you can’t beat’em, join’em…

    Snow day today!

So the kids and I are going to go enjoy the snow. Snow shoeing and sledding at Mom and Pop’s house.

If we’re lucky there will be hot chocolate!

    self portrait rear view

    I’ll be taking pictures.

I want the snow gone, but it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere so I may as well  enjoy it.

You know what I miss?! Making snow angels. I haven’t made a snow angel in forever.

I miss laying in the snow and having it hug my body and staying still for a bit and just listening to the silence…

Somehow, even though I miss it, the thought of lying in the snow right now is REALLY unappealing.

Is there something you used to do that has lost it’s appeal in adulthood?
