From the mouth of a little booger, I mean babe… ahem.
Tonight at dinner, Charlie, my ten year old, made juice and poured a glass for himself and one for his little brother.
Cooper, who is four and still in that, the world revolves around me stage, threw a fit because the juice wasn’t in the glass he wanted. I corrected him with, “You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.”
This appeased him and Cooper took a drink. I reminded him that he still hadn’t told his big brother thank you for the juice. To which he replied “But I hate it.”
“That’s not nice.” I said “You still need to say thank you.”
Cooper shook his head and put his hands over his face, “But Mom,” He said with a huge sigh “sometimes the truth hurts.”

What do you do you when the truth hurts?

What I try to do is what you told your boy to do.
Do the next right thing.

Call my therapist and make an appointment.
Accept the truth or fight it.
First of all, homemade juice from a 10 year old? NICE!! That sounds yummy and wholesome! Secondly, “you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit” is my FAVORITE phrase that I learned from the teachers at my kids preschool. It has become part of my Mommy lexicon. And finally…..love Cooper’s quote. Priceless.
welcome to the real world kid.
**sigh**
I agree sometimes it does hurt.
I handle the ugly truths and painful truths in different ways on different days, honestly. Some days I can woman-up and face them and deal. Some days I just make a joke of everything. And some days I drink. *sigh*
Very funny. The truth hurts. Much funnier than when my mirror says it.
Priceless!
kids are wonderful!
I throw a fit.
I take a step back and try to make peace with the truth.
ha! your kids crack me up!
I try to convince myself that someone else is to blame
It doesn’t usually work. It’s amazing to me that you can raise two boys and still have time and energy to be creative.
Kids say the funniest things! When I corrected my kids like that, and they said something funny, I always had a hard time not laughing.
I try to be kind when I say the truth to someone.
And your kids are too cute.
*HUGS* for Angi.
