What I did with my weekend…
Yesterday we slogged through the thawing snow to this building…
Building 50 at the old State Hospital…
an insane asylum.
We went for the first area Folk Festival.
Musicians from all over the state of Michigan were there…
but really I went to see these guys.
Song of the Lakes
It was worth slogging through it.
I saw one of my favorite bands and I took a few CIRCLE SHOTS!
I’m saving those for tomorrow…
I hope this warm weather holds…
Another day like yesterday and we might not have to shovel the drive any more!
Who else is ready for spring?

Ready for spring?… Hell, I am ready for winter!… It is spring time year round here where I live… Oh, sorry… didn’t mean any offense by that… =)
Slushy mess everywhere I look. I’ve given up mopping until the dog stops tracking in mud.
That is a neat building – too bad about its history, though.
Glad you all had a great time at the music festival! Wow, that really IS a slushy mess you had to go through. We had mostly sun and temps as high as 70 this weekend, so I can’t complain!

Slogged! I’ve never heard of that word, but it’s funny! I like it!
I am ALWAYS ready for spring… and fall!
EEEEEEEEEEP. Just LOOKING at snow makes me want to freeze up. It’s so warm and nice here in my country!

And I can’t wait to put up some Circles photos!
That place looks like the DuPont family could live there. Hmmm, maybe they did, come to think of it.
Ah, you make me homesick. Mother Moonie clearly never spent a winter/spring in lovely MI if she’s not familiar with “slogged”. Actually it was the link to the video of 4th of July in Leland that made me think of family and friends I left behind, left the poor things to suffer the character building, fortitude developing, webbed-foot growing Michigan winter.
That’s okay, you can have the last laugh in August when we’re shakin’ and bakin’.
that asylum looks awesome! i need to go shoot that building. make it scary looking at nite, ya know?
that band seems pretty cool. you took your kids? that’s cool, getting culture and what not
my feet went numb just looking at that picture!
spring is coming…yes it is. it’s trying to catch up to you!It sounds like a fun time-I can’t think of a better place for musicians (I’ve known a few you know
)
I wish I lived close to the snow! Im just stuck in a depressing winter overcast ;(
sigh, the bay area does no justice to the beauty of winter
I’m ready for the equator!!!
Funny how such a pretty building is an asylum…
beautiful and creepy at the same time!!!
I am most definitely ready for spring. We’re getting a little taste of early spring weather here and I’m loving it!
@mercyless1 - If you and your guys get this way… I will direct you to or meet you at it… there are great hiking trails behind it and it’s got some neat eateries in it… The grounds around it are wonderful too… there is one of every tree that is indiginous to the State of Michigan there… I’m telling you… it’s a great weekend road trip, you guys would LOVE it!
@mercyless1 - Oh also… What’s the point in having monsters if you aren’t going to do fun things with them… Know what I mean?!
Sounds like a blast! Ooooh I am SO READY for Spring!!
on our way to the insane assilum lol
the “willies ” are needed to walk in such a melting snow !
Glad you enjoyed the concert.
Love
Michel
very cool band! i love checking out other peoples favorite bands. so cant wait to see your circle pics!!
@the_best_stuff - I bet you and the kids would LOVE these guys… they make have a song that is all swamp sounds… and they have some fun drinking songs… anyway… I think you would like some of their stuff. lol
I am so ready for Spring. We still haven’t had weather warm enough to begin melting the snow but I’m convinced it will happen anyday now. What I’m not ready for is when the frost begins to come up out of the ground… that’s when it’s all mud for 4 to 6 inches deep laying on top of the still frozen underlayers. Messy, Messy, Messy, I’ll have to get a pair of Seedsower’s Wellies.
i just finished reading a book about murders at an insane asylum that was shut down…..very creepy!
I am hoping the weather warms up, to get rid of the remaining snow and ice on the ground.
I’m still scared of that place…even with all of the renovations.
Sounds like a fun way to spend the weekend!!! I remember photos of this place from your blog, I hope you took some photos inside so we can see what that looks like!!!
more than ready, i want to be at the head of the line.
