  • Ditch happens

Today we had a nice snow storm.

I had to take Ben to work in the middle of it.

    waiting to be traveled 2

On the way home I thought I would take some pictures.

I was fine going down this road.

It was when I stopped to take this picture…

tree alone in a snow storm

I took a couple shots, got back in the car which I had parked on the edge of the road,

and promptly slid into the ditch.

If you have to, that’s the way to do it…

I had three gentlemen in trucks stop and offer to pull me out but I already had a tow truck on the way.

    I figure ditch happens.

Hope your all keeping your toes warm and your whiskers dry!

I wanted to stop on the way to work today to take some, but Matthew didn’t want to stop.  (I was too afraid to drive so he drove me to work.  )

  • lol ditc h does happen but it seems to have been worth it with a picture like that one of the tree

  • Are you entering these pictures in JoyousMemoriesPhoto’s winter contest? You should.

When Krysten started driving I joined AAA and I’m always glad I have it come winter. I’ve used it twice, but never in winter. Krysten and Brett have both needed it in the ice and snow, though.

  • You know I love all the tree photos, don’t you!? Almost as much as you love my door pictures… :)

Sorry about the ditch thing. You’re right. It happens.

  • You got some great photos, I’d say it was worth it!

    I’m ready for some snow!!!!

  • Well, at least you got gorgeous photos out of it…
And yes, ditch happens here too. Once or twice a year.

  • the pictures are gorgeous. almost worth it, eh?

  • @MooncatBlue - Thank goodness for roadside coverage!

  • That tree is definitely worth sliding into a ditch for! :) Glad no one was hurt!

  • OK, lol I wrote my comment without reading all the other notes… so I said the same thing they did! lol  I would print that lovely “tree by it self” photo and hang it on the wall! :)

  • Dear Angie,

Well, at least you got a couple of neat photos out of the experience. I esp. like the solitary tree.

Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

  • I’d say those photos were worth it, considering there was no harm. Beautiful work.

  • i had to work in snow the last two days, but it’s the annoyingly wet kind and not the powdery stuff that you guys got. ours didn’t stick. it just made the airport wet and sloppy

  • Very Ansel Adams!  Sorry about the ditch….glad you made it out!

  • Outstanding photographs. Good to know you made it home safe.

  • great pictures. Hope you and the car didn’t have too much damage.

  • Found your blog via buddly47. Awesome pics! Sorry about the ditch. I recently became interested in digital photography–here’s my Flickr site.

  • sweet shots lady! Reminds me of pogonip.

  • Looks like you were stuck in a big rut….I guess the person who put the ditch there didn’t want people to drive thru their property….

That solitary tree looks like it was topped ages ago. The solid trunk abruptly ends so that may either be due to man or a lightning strike (since it is so solitary) However the tree took a very symetrical picture.

  • wow! the ditch was totally worth ths photos. so gorgeous!

  • This be called to take photos at the risk of one’s life !!! Fortunatly there are gentlemen on earth !
It was dangerous but what a reward when I see your photos !!

I propose to suppress the ditch !

    Love
    Michel

  • Oh dear – sorry about the ditch. But the pics sure are awesome Angi!

  • The price we pay for gorgeous looking pictures. They are really something.

  • Gorgeous pictures! We still haven’t had snow here in DC!

  • Beautiful pictures, just keep that snow over there please. It’s bitterly cold here today and I’m NOT putting the heating on until just before the kids come home. Toes are toasty…tucked into thick ‘mad cow’ socks and Doc Martens but I can hardly feel my fingers. Stay warm and I’m glad you weren’t hurt when the car slid.

  • the price you pay for good pics.  I always offer to pull people out when they are stuck!

  • I miss looking at the snow but not the driving through it.

  • At least you weren’t being an idiot and driving too fast for the road conditions. I saw one of those happen last night. I think your ditch experience was worth it for the shot you got.

  • I like your winter wonderland pictures….but sorry there was a ditch in the way.Stay warm!

  • I think those great pictures are worth the ditch experience!

  • Can we have some snow please!?Beautiful pictures

  • let it snow….Sandra, hoping you are well and warm

  • Brrr, those are great pictures. Glad you are safe and sound.

  • Ditch happens!!! LOL  You are such a hoot!!

  • I’m keeping my spirits up and my kilts down.
    Uncle Jim

  • wow!  what a great attitude!   thanks for lovely pictures

  • What? No pictures of the car in the ditch?  We Southern California folks like to see these things.  It makes us feel like it’s worth enduring our blistering summers so we don’t have ditch happenings in the winter.

  • Thankfully all I’ve seen is a couple of flurries that didn’t really stick. We did have this one period when the snow was coming down like gang busters but regardless of the fact that I might as well been at the South Pole during a freak storm; nothing stuck. I thought for sure I was going to crash.

  • I’m actually praying this year that won’t happen to me, but that is a scenario I know all too well.
