  • I’m a little sad that I won’t be able to help the kids get dressed for Halloween at school tomorrow. I know their Daddy will do a great job though and I’ll get done with work in time to go to the parade.  Some change is just a little more difficult then others. *sigh*

I know I missed weigh in Wensday, again. The problem is I haven’t been, I haven’t been weighing in with myself. There are so many problems with that. We should all weigh in at least once a day right? If you don’t weigh in with your finances you could over draw your check book… If you don’t weigh in with your kids, you could miss their homework. If you don’t weigh in with your house it will go down hill quickly… (I have personal experience with that one.) SO why don’t we weigh in with ourselves more often… because it’s SO much effort… But I am going to try, really I am. Every day I will make an effort to do something good FOR ME!

Maybe if I write it down I will do it?

What motivates you to be good to yourself?

  • Angi, I enjoy you so much; well, this weigh in thing; are you talking about weight watchers or what motivates me to be good to myself.

That’s two questions in one and due to my high IQ, gentellness as a southern gentleman, and such, I’ll answer one at a time.

    1. I weigh in when I go to the doctor office. He took me off my colostral (sp) medication because it was causing problems; I ate more carbos, no meat; he asked me what I had been eating; due to my weigh in he said “maybe you ought to go back to the meat.’

    2. Be good to yourself: I have found that a little Crown Royal Whiskey before dinner helps a lot.

Keep those wonderful blogs coming in.

I think I love you, but I’ll have to see you first.

  • @jimwilloughby - Oh my! lol

I am just talking about living a healthier life… We get so wrapped up in the world and taking care of others sometimes that we forget to take care of ourselves.

If a little treat helps you feel better… then more power to you!

  • writing it down as a list of tasks is a good and bad thing….if you put too many things off they are right there to remind you of your humanity’s shortcomings…i write my down in my head hehehe…the list of things to be done…though i doubt my list is a long as yours with a family to consider

  • @angi1972 - thanks so much. we do get absorbed in things don’t we?

  • I try not to weigh myself every day because then I get caught up in 10ths of pounds. I’m not sure what motivates me to do something for myself, or at least something that will make me feel better. When I need it most is when I don’t want to do anything at all but lie around on the couch or sleep all day.

  • I just made my daughter’s first costume… it’s pitiful, lol.

The main thing that motivates me to be good to myself is that I just can’t get it all done if I don’t. Especially writing, I have to take care of myself to have a clear mind. I just wish I was better at the weight loss.

  • What is motivating me to learn to be good to myself is that I’ve promised (threatened?) my kids that I’m going to live to be 100 yrs old so I can bug them all their lives.  Taking care of me feels like selfishness so I really have to work at it.

  • I weigh myself every day, too.  I don’t always like doing it, but it does serve to keep me in line!

I’m glad you will get off work in time to see the kids in the parade.  I used to like going to those, too.  Do they still have Halloween classroom parties with room parents?

  • Do you have to go somewhere to weigh in?  Why not just put a scale somewhere convenient?

  • I weigh myself every morning before I get in the shower. You can do it to.

  • Our kids are not allowed to wear costumes to school and there is no parade or parties!!!  No fun allowed!  Actually, they work around it for the littler kids by having them dress up as a favorite book character and feeding them cupcakes at lunch…..but it’s just not the same.  ho hum.

  • The fact that God is good to me makes me want to be good to myself, too.

And you don’t have to weigh yourself EVERY day! That’s a bit discouraging, no?

  • I am getting a health coach. The health insurance at work is promoting wellness. We all took lifestyle/health assessments and they determined if you needed to do something to improve your health. Eventually they will make you stay healthy to keep your insurance (not pessimistic but realistic). So I will have someone that will remind me, encourage me, and keep track of my progress. That said it is totally up to me to get results. There are different way to look at it but I see it as a way to improve myself as well as a way to benefit my family. If I’m more active, more fit and thinner (for me) I can give them a more energetic, stronger and happier mother and wife. Everyone wins. So it isn’t just being good to me (so I don’t have to feel guilty because I’m spending an hour walking or doing an aerobics class).

  • the thing that motivates me is the fact that i am just a spoiled self centered bastard, who considers himself #1 . butt, i really do care about others. please continue to share it all with us !

  • *sigh* I have no motivation at the moment….its difficult enough keeping my eyes fixed on Him right now.
i am sorry you won’t get to share the traditional dress up with the monsters, but I am glad u will make the parade!
have fun Angi and have a good weekend!

  • I am still trying to get myself to weigh in once a week!

    @droptop11 - lol

  • My husband and my Lord keep me responsible. I am good at “wallowing” and so I try to stay up on things so I don’t get overwhelmed. Your post reminds me of that verse that says …Psalm 139:23  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

  • What motivates me to be good to myself? That’s simple: I love and value myself.

  • i also find simply weighing in with God allows him and her to prompt me.  amazing how it works.  Even so, I do try to plan, etc.

people who love me remind me.  People who HAVE loved me in the past seem to also remind me.  Then I get memories of how I screw things up if I am too tired, etc.

Think of who I want to be.  This helps.  will my present way help me achieve this?

    thanks

  • Reading the Bible keeps my life in line.

  • Sorry you will not be there to help the little gremlins get dressed for Trick or Treat! I know its hard to not do somethings with them! I do hope the rest of the day goes well!!!

  • @WinsomeONE - Oh no! I have a scale… And Wednesday is the day I do that… but I am talking more about checking in with oneself… taking care of ourselves… what do I/you do to live a healthier life?

  • @angi1972 - Ah, I see.  The busyness of life.  I was confused because at one time, I used to go “weigh-in” at weight watchers.  I finally got myself a scale when the weekly-weigh in was not enough.  Who is that on your profile pic?

  • I have been visiting various blogs for my dissertation writing research. I have found your blog to be quite useful. Keep updating your blog with valuable information… Regards
