  • Fall is probably one of my most artistic seasons. It completely sets me into the mood to write. My favorite memory would have to be when I was around 10 years old. I had just found a puppy. We were playing in a leaf pile, and at the time I had extremely long hair. When I got out my grandmother took a picture of the back of me with the leaves in my hair and the dog at my feet. I really wish that I could find that picture now. It’s a fond memory.

  • That tree is spectacular !  I try and find beauty and goodness in the Fall, but actually I have suffered from seasonal depression, which starts in the Fall, with the days becoming so dark.
I have dreaded the Fall season for a long time; thus no favorite memories, other than the births of two of my four children.

  • I love the fall now that I live in Texas.  We don’t have to worry about the coming winter here.

  • I live near dan and as he pointed out, we don’t have much to worry about in the winter-our winter is probably fall to you guys. My fav fall memory was being up in KY just a few years ago in Oct. It was wonderful and sooooo beautiful. My daughter and I collected leaves to bring home with us

I am having a major case of wanderlust right now…I want to be somewhere north…

  • just biker week; i guess im boring???

  • @k8tthelate - I am having a wanderlust vision, too .. of being in more light !  Fall is pretty, though.

  • @RubyBogonia - I saw where you have SAD-my mom did too-her way of coping was to shut all the blinds and curtains and turn on every light in the house. it seemed to help. I feel for you.

  • @TheTheologiansCafe - I spent Nov. and Dec.1966 at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. Like to froze my butt off. Texas is not immune to winter weather, my friend!

  • @k8tthelate - Thank you; I do use extra light, and candlelight at night.

  • @buddly47 - Lackland .. Air Force, right ?  I was too short to enter the Air Force.

  • I loved gathering leaves and Ironing them between wax paper with crayon shavings!

  • I have lots of fun fall memories, I use to always work at the pumpkin patch at the community center by my house, and the haunted house, and I use to take my younger cousins trick or treating on halloween, I just loved walking around in the crisp air… one of my favorite memories was, when my ex husband and I first moved in to our first house (we rented just north of Louisville, in southern Indiana) this was really the first time I had ever lived in a house, that was MY house, and we had two trees in our yard and the neighbors on both sides had trees and we had to borrow a rake to rake the leaves, and I just loved it, and I spent a lot of time out there that first fall raking and raking and my ex (this was actually before we were even married) made so much fun of me b/c of it…it was like I was a kid again

@seedsower - awww I remember doing that w/ my mom…just now, forgot all about that… I am going to have to do that w/ my boyz, they love to collect leaves

  • The smells, sounds, feel, taste and look of the entire season makes my heart sing.  There is no other time of year that makes me feel the way autumn does.  College was particularly nice during that time.

@buddly47 - ahh, you flyboys know how to make a girl’s heart go pitter pat.  When I lived in MT, I lived a stone’s throw from Malmstrom AFB.  Cool stuff there.  Lived by Fairchild AFB when I lived in WA State.  Those B-52′s were HUGE. And loud.  Real loud.

  • I always dream of enjoying fall.  I wish I could go to cooler areas to enjoy the leaves.

  • Well, I fell in love with my husband in the fall– at the fair. LOL

LOVE THE TREE!!!  Where was that taken?

  • My favorite memory of fall? Thanksgiving with my mother’s side of the family. Always fabulous!

  • i smell things burning in a barrel. When young, was in S. California…..no discernible autumn.  THEN Wisconsin, with full winter et all.  Then Iowa…..then N. carolina….much milder.

I guess though the favorite is when the kids were really little, and our development had these great halloweeh parties, with fireworks.  It was nice, and neighborly.

  • Hi Angi.  Just connecting.

  • Collecting all the changing leaves, and making pictures with them!
    (((HUGS)))  Miss you lots Angi!

  • I always use to watchthe leaves change in Minnesota………Making big piles of leaves and jumping in them.

  • So what did the monsters think???????????

  • I remember the time where I was a child and the fresh air biting my face in the early morning when I went to school at feet on a long way in October .
    Love

    Michel

  • Fall in Indiana is mostly beautiful. It is a fickle time weatherwise – 40 degrees when you leave the house in the morning and 80 when you come home… Always the right recipe for colds. I remember riding the bus and having a box of kleenex on my lap. It was like honey to bees – all of a sudden I had lots of friends, all asking for a tissue.

  • The wonderful colors…..and having to rack up all the colorful leaves….Having my dog dig in the huge piles of leaves…he would go crazy looking for things in the piles

  • I love fall – it’s my favorite season (though spring is a very close second).  Air is crisp and has a certain smell to it, leaves are beautiful…  I grew up in New England, so it became an annual family tradition to take leaf peeping drives up through Vermont or New Hampshire (we lived in Connecticut) and we’d just drive, stopping at little gift shops and such along the way, no particular destination in mind.  I wish I had the patience to spend that much time in the car with my dh and kids!! ;)

  • I love just reliving the changing scenery every year. There’s nothing better than watching the leaves change!

  • Beautiful, beautiful picture!

I have tons of favorite memories.  Most involve apple cider, colored leaves, pumpkins, and good freinds

  • there are sooo many awesome falls in my past…

one that comes back to me again and again… one halloween i was with my grandmother in windermere, florida… i was ragady ann… i can remember exactly how the cool air felt on my skin… i can remember the flashlight on the road as we walked from house to house… all the streets there are sand… they haul it in from the ocean when it washes out so there all always broken up seashells in it…. the cypress trees hang spookily over the streets to add to the appeal… i think about that night a lot this time of year…

  • I just love fall in general. I love the leaves falling off the trees, and pine cones, and acorns, it’s just beautiful, it’s a really calming time of year.

  • when we were kids my parents used to take us camping at pokagan every year.  in the fall my aunts and uncles, cousins,  gram and gramps would all take there campers to pokagan and we would all camp and have christmas early before grandma and grandpa left for florida.   I loved it there and had all of my family to hang out with.   We would even go on night hikes.  Now they are just memories.  When we all grew up we stopped.

  • Yep spent a week a the beach! LOL!

  • When I was in college my fraternity made a float for the homecoming parade.  It was always so much fun albeit a lot of work.  What a great time!

  • Fall is my favorite season!  I think my favorite fall memories would be horseback riding in the hills of KY.  In Louisiana we don’t have much leaf color change going on in  fall.  So my first autumn in Kentucky was…breathtaking.  The photo is fabulous, as always!

  • yes but is not very nice….its more of well hmmmmm….me and my friend would as young teens would pile all the leaves along this very wide road way and set it on fire and watch cars drive into them…..not very nice but it is a moment that still lingers to even today….

  • Haven’t said hi in awhile so HIIIII!!!  I hope your new job is still going well :)

  • How about the birth of a daughter?  :)

  • @storygrave - OMG….I wish we had thought of that!!!  All we ever did was sit on the hill and chunk dirt clods at cars – burnin leaf piles that is so cool   but man we got tore up enough over chunkin dirt clods I can’t imagine I would even be here if we’d started fires …

There ya go Ang….chunkin dirt clods….I think from now on I’ll just live vicariously through you

  • @mlbncsga - i knew the law and at 13 they could really at most make my parents pay a fine…….but with both working tax paying parents who would do that to them….though we never got caugh nor did we ever do any damge…other then the burning smoke marks on the road…it was always so much fun….i miss being young…not cos i know more now…but cos i could get away with more then lol

  • Going for walks in the park.

In first school (age 4-7) each class had a topic for assembly,  one time we had Autumn,    I can remember my job was to color in a tree (was about six A4 sheets of paper) (I spent three weeks doing this in Art and Craft)

    Wet playtimes in school.

Picking up Sycamore helicopters when I was five.

  • What a beautiful pic.  I love it when the leaves change colour!!

  • Fall is my most favorite season!  The weather cools as the leaves change colors, it’s so beautiful!  My favorite memory of fall is when I was younger my parents would invite friend and family over on weekends and we would grill and sometime play silly games.  It was always a blast.
