  • DOORS UP!

Slag Runner has a great post about DOORS as well as DOORS UP!

JillCarmel has DOORS UP with some really interesting art on them… now I am plotting how I can do that on my doors… hmmm…

  • Birds on a wire and enquiring minds… I am stealing everyone elses tag line today.

    touching down bird wire

There are hundreds of birds that hang around this parking lot area in town.

They fly in giant clouds, it looks like a dance.

If I ever have time I might video some of it.

This morning at work it was more dishes, but I also got to slice tomatoes, onions, and roasted peppers…

I am still trying to be optimistic…

I did  have to deal with the grossest thing I have ever had to do at a job, today…

Actually now that it’s done and I am home it doesn’t seem that bad.

What’s the grossest thing an employer has asked you to do?

  • Time out…

    Maybe the Test of Migration

    Artist- Ginny Smith

Yesterday my Mom, Isabelle, and I went to the opening of the 12 Voices exhibit at the Dennos Museum.

It was a great exhibit if you like quilts, which I do.

Isabelle and grandma at the exhibit

Here is Isabelle talking to her Grandma.

This is at the gallery entrance area,  where they were serving the wine and food.

My little girl did so well, she was very well behaved and enjoyed her girls night out.

I was a little sad when she told me she didn’t want to learn to quilt.

She said when she’s as old as I am now, I can teach her how to make quilts for the winter.

I said I would probably be dead then, but thanks anyway.

The quilts were beautiful and interesting, the company exceptional.

  • Hi ho hi ho

Well I completed my second day of work this morning at nine…

It isn’t what I expected… I am washing  A LOT of dishes… I knew I would have to do that, but I was also told I’d get to do a few fun things… I am hoping eventually that happens, because I don’t think I could stand doing dishes for five hours a night, five nights a week…

I’ll just keep telling myself it’s a pay check and  the hours are right. Besides, two days really isn’t giving something much of a chance… No, I am by no means ready to “throw in the towel.”

How about you? Do you like your job? I don’t think there isn’t a job I wouldn’t at least TRY… Is there a job you would NEVER do?

  • I guess I am relevant noise!

You all know by now that I am a hot dog fan.

Last April I did  THIS  blog on our favorite local hot dog place, House of Doggs.

Yesterday I was looking at my footprints and noticed that someone had googled

    HOUSE OF DOGGS

    This isn’t unusual,

during the summer months I get several hits for it a month.

This time, shortly after the search prints, a Xanga blog came by with the name

    HOUSE OF DOGGS

and a very nice comment was left at the bottom of the post!

Thanks for the props!!  I used to live in Grand Rapids , grew up on Yesterdog!  That’s one of the reasons I started the House Of Doggs!

    Thanks Again!

    Nick

    House Of Doggs

    How cool is that!

The owner took the time to start a xanga and leave a comment!

The beginning of this summer they moved to a new location in  Old Town, Traverse City.

The kids and I haven’t had a chance to make it in to the new location yet,

but I think we now have a great excuse to go!

(The kids are trying to convincing Ben to break the record for most chili dogs eaten.)

Of course I will tell you ALL about it!

What is your most frequently googled post or tag?

  • Empire drive 011

I start my new job at 5 tomorrow morning, my normal shift will start at 4.

I am supposed to be sleeping now. (shhh)

    If you guessed bakery…

You were right! It’s a bread bakery.

I will never have to buy bread again!

Why do I feel like I should put “As God is my witness” in front of that?

    View from the viewfinder

Something else kind of fun happened today.

Just because I like being a big tease…

I’ll tell you about it later.

What’s the earliest you can get to sleep?

  • Some of what I saw…

My Mom needed George out of the house today.

    george running empire

So Cooper and I took him to the beach!

I saw old dog happiness, gull chasing, and wave licking.

    To the beach!

We went on a drive to Empire, Michigan.

Cooper kept asking when we were going to be in  ”vampire”.

I saw Cooper so excited, he had one shoe off before he got to the sand.

    Empire beach

I saw beautiful lake shore, blue water and blue, blue sky.

I have decided to go back in a few weeks so I can get shots of the fall colors.

    veiw finder back veiw

    I saw viewfinders!

    I don’t know why, I LOVE viewfinders!

    Empire veiwfinder

To me they seem like functional pieces of art.

I have some neat viewfinder shots from The Empire State Building too…

Maybe its because they remind me of cameras? Hmm…

    lighthouse door

I even saw some DOORS today!

    Empire building

    I saw empty buildings.

If I lived closer I would be brainstorming ways to get cool reflection shots from this building…

I just didn’t have time today, well that, and my entourage was smaller,

I didn’t have big kids to force into posing for me.

    Wildflowers truck
I saw a cool old truck parked at Wild Flowers in Glen Arbor.

I love looking at this shop/garden nursery,

but it is not a place a big dog and little monster would do well in, so we passed it by.

    Today I saw many things.

    beach dune

    Many wonderful things.

    What did you see today?

Don’t forget there are DOOR links posted below.

I was wondering how many of you are still searching for you perfect door picture?

  • I think I have a new job!

    I will know more tomorrow…

I can’t believe how much my world is changing right now… I am finally getting the last monster into school for part of a day and I will be getting back out into the real world on a semi regular basis!

    Can you tell I’m excited?!

Thanks for all of the ideas on the self portrait… I think I am going to combine a couple and see what comes out!

Of course I will share the results!

On the job front… I’ll still be doing the cards and stained glass work for the glass company, and I am going to set up an Esty account (finally)  but now I will also have a steady pay check coming in while I work with one of my favorite things… and I bet I will come home smelling yummy every morning.. I can’t wait!

Can you guess what I’ll be doing?

IN the past I have been-

    • a waitress
    • sales associate for intimate apparel
    • movie projectionist, concessioner, cashier and usher
    • credit union and bank teller
    • hand painted clothing artist
    • newspaper stager
    • sales associate at a fabric store
    • hand beading specialist at a bridal shop
    • seamstress
    • mat cutter and framer
    • art supply salesperson
    • glass artist

    Now… another hint… this job isn’t like anything I’ve ever done before…

What do you think I’ll be doing?
