  • losing summer place

I was at the school last week talking to the lady who supervises recess.

Her-”So I noticed Isabelle wearing big ole snow boots the other day.It was 82 degrees out!” she said laughing.

Me-”I know! I started working mornings and I didn’t know she was wearing them. she said her other shoes weren’t fitting!”

Her-”I knew it must have been something like that, but let me tell you, she sure can kick the soccer ball with those big ole boots on.”  she said with a BIG smile.

    AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Silver white winters that melt into spring…

    The sculptures of…

    Gian Lorenzo Banini

    Gian Lorenzo Banini

I am impressed with the incredible depth of the details in his work, how he made  marble look like warm flesh…

Going to see his fountains in Rome is on my life list.

    My green bags!

I can fit more groceries into fewer bags. One of my grocery stores gives me a nickel every time I use them, so they may have cost me a dollar to buy, but they have long since paid for themselves.

I feel good about using them and they make carrying the groceries into the house easier too.

Percy Jackson and the Olympian books

I know, it’s another young adult book, I read to the kids every night so I go through a lot of them.

I would be lying if I told you I didn’t like them, I love them!

These books are a great intro into mythology for any little monster as well as a refresher for me!

    Ingrid Michaelson

Her album- Girls and Boys- is my studio music of choice right now.

    Fall!

This is one of last years fall tree pictures. I am excited to go take more.

These are a few of my favorite things, now tell me some of yours!

  • IS IT JUST ME?

Or does the fact that Senator McCain didn’t think that the other 98 senators in Washington could handle a crisis without his direct bodily involvement seem… oh I don’t know… arrogant? Possibly show a lack of ability to delegate in the future?

I don’t know who I’m voting for yet, but I have to say… this doesn’t go in McCain’s positive check column for me….

Without telling me your VOTE… what do you think? Was it a good move or a stupid one?

Also there is that whole multi tasking thing…

  • Some of what I saw…

    EDIT

Nattata finally has her DOORS UP!

She was on Vacation on the final day.

    ****************************************************************

This morning I came home from work and saw a beautiful web in one of our trees.

    web three

I insisted that my poor hubby come out and look at it, with it’s sparkling morning dew and perfect spirals.

As we stood there he pointed out at least ten more webs in the same tree!

    web high contrast

I tried to get a picture of all of them, but no matter what angle I went to, the light wouldn’t cooperate.

    web water drops

The reason the greens look different, are because they are the leaves from different trees in our yard.

The ones that had nothing but sky behind them wouldn’t show up this morning because it was wet and foggy out.

    angle web

Oh how I longed for a nice Macro lens!

    angle web running drops

Now that I have a job though, my dreams of a new camera may not be that far off!

I didn’t see any spiders, I imagine they were all taking refuge under the leaves to avoid the slight drizzle.

Tell me what you saw today!

    DO IT NOW!

I’m demanding and you know you like it.

  • What kinda kid were you?

    sneakers and swirly water

THE hardest part of going back to work for me, isn’t doing dishes,

or dealing with the mess others have left

or getting up at 2:30 in the morning…

It is not being able to send the kids off to school.

    Everyday I wonder-

     Did they brush their teeth?

     Are they wearing socks?

Did their clothes match? Hope there weren’t any holes in inappropriate places!

On Wednesday I have the day off, so this morning I got up to oversee morning rituals,

only to find my worst fears had been realized…

Well maybe not my WORST fears.

Isabelle has been wearing her snow boots out the door to school, then putting her gym shoes on when she gets there!

Now… there would be nothing wrong with this in the winter, but it was 80 degrees out yesterday!

I am quitting my job and staying home!

That would be an over reaction, wouldn’t  it?

    But it does bug me…

    Why?

Because I don’t want my kid to be the weird snow boot kid…

She didn’t care, and didn’t know why I was  upset.

Why I was frantically searching for different shoes, only to find shoe after shoe that didn’t fit.

Finally coming up with a pair of clogs she refused to wear because they didn’t go with her jeans.

So off to school she went in her snow boots, promising to put her sneakers on as soon as she got there.

So we will be going shoe shopping tonight after the cross country meet.

    My question for you is…

Do things like this bother you? Did they? When you were in school?

DO you remember a weird snow boot kid? What kind of kid were you?

I was the blend into the bus seat, invisible kid, I can’t say I was unhappy about that either. I had heard too many kids make mean comments about other kids and what they were wearing or doing.

  • Big ugly bug

You know a man loves you when…

    Cicada on Bens finger

He holds a big ugly bug for you!

cicada on ben finger blown out

and patiently lets you take picture after picture.

    big ugly bug

We don’t see many cicadas around here.

When I do see one I always remember a story I heard once…

    big ugly bug blown out

About one jumping up off of the ground and getting stuck in a ladies pantyhose!

Now that… would be something to see.

Did you see something fun today?

    Alright,so I’ve got nothing!

  • THANK YOU!

The new job is kicking my butt… I am enjoying it, but I come home and  sleep the day away and if I’m not sleeping, I am in my studio working or making dinner for the monsters.

  •          Newyork library door walk by.jpg

I can’t really choose this year! I found so many doors that I loved and saw so many of yours that were so cool.

I love this one because it was taken at the Library in New York City and I was with SEEDSOWER when I took it!

                         Smiths Creek Depot door.jpg

The Smith’s Creek Depot door at Greenfield Village. I think I love this one because it’s a round topped door and I am really attracted to round things.

Those are the two doors I am proudest of! NOW where are yours?!

I’ll start linking them as you send me a message letting me know you have them up!
