  • A Good Day on the River

    The reunion was great!

We stuffed ourselves with food and then some of us stuffed ourselves into bathing suits!

Off to the river we went!

I took the water camera, of course.

As usual the camera takes AWFUL pictures… which is why I LOVE them.

It’s like a Cracker Jack prize

I never know what I’m going to get.

There was a group of twelve of us.

I like this camera so much because I feel like a REAL lomographer!

I took 254 pictures and think maybe ten are usable…

Just because I have posted them doesn’t mean they are useable!

There is something so relaxing about laying back in your inner tube and letting the current take you.

UNTIL it takes you over a log that pokes you in the rump or

floats you into a tree hanging over the bank!

    feet on the river.jpg

I managed to get a shoe shot for TheGreenPanthers footprint project!

I found it ironic that the same shoes I walked around NYC in are the ones I wore in the river…

    Maybe I need more shoes?

Isabelle all done and ready to to go home!

It was a very good day on the river!

Have you ever been tubing down a river?

  • I love tubing! unless it is a dry year and I scrape bottom with my big arse,oh I hate that!
Glad that you had fun,I love the dancing tree!

  • does the lazy river count? lol. I have a photo similar to the river bottom one. I was just testing out my bf’s camera and took them. he told me they look trippy, but the whole water thing is just cool looking.

  • I have indeed. every year from the time I was 12 till i got married I hit the guadelupe and the comal rivers here. it takes about 8 hours to do the run and there are several sets of rapids along the way. good times!

My son recently discovered the joys of being a river rat and was completely shocked his old mama was an old  pro at it. I had to gently break it to him that I did have a life before he showed up.
I think your photos were great and I’m glad you posted them.

  • @seedsower - I did that several times. lol I am about to go get Ben some Tylenol! He had Cooper sitting on him so he dragged a bit. lol

  • I love tubing, nothing like a cool river on a hot day! Yep, that is great summer fun!!!

  • looks like a real fun activity!

  • Ditto Beth that dancing tree is great but them shoes, Oi. Just kidding. Looks like you all had a lot of fun.

  • @k8tthelate - We only do the hour and a half run, the water is COLD! lol I can imagine you doing ANYTHING… I recognise your adventuros soul!

  • Grrreat pics!!  Love your effects as well!!  My kids have tubed, but I am a big chicken.

  • I have never been tubing down a river but would love to go.  I do not think I would do it where I live as I might look like lunch for a gator!

  • Y, yes, I have. When I was three I got away from my mom and I was hanging onto an inner tube going down the river all alone. My Dad was talking to some men on down the river and saw his little daughter floating toward the falls and swam to save me.
A few years ago I went to Helen, Georgia and caught some kids on camera, tubing down the Chattahoochie on pink tubes. When I got home I watercolored it. You’ve probably seen it.

  • I would of loved to be where u where at today, Kudos on the pics u did keep, they were great!

  • Yes I have, I nearlyed drowned ;.;

The current sucked me under. But obviously, I made it out alive.

Man these pictures make me dizzy @.@

  • Tubing is great! Wearing shoes is a definite must!

  • The wavy dancy river tree picture made me dizzy it’s so cool!

  • i wanna go there. no matter tube or what. i saw the first photo, first of all i found it weird and messy. u know, pebbles altogether. but they’re all nice.

  • Never been tubing, but it sounds like something even a shlub like me could handle! I like your shots. I think it must have been a wonderful day.

  • wow… rivers are such a beauty :) how come i don’t see a swing by the tree?

  • love the river. water is refreshing. i live on one too…need to take more advantage and less xanga.

  • this looked like fun!!!!!!!

  • It has been so long since I was tubing.  It’s on my mental list of things to do sometime.  Looks like you had a great time.  Who else would think of taking pictures while floating?

  • great shots Ang. -Mary

  • Well that looks fun as hell. And you managed to use the word ‘rump’ in your blog so that is more points to you.

  • Yeah I have been tubbing.  Years ago though, I could do with a session.

In Oz we used to take them to the beach with us years ago.  The funniest thing was always being caught topsy turvey with your bottom shining right back up at the sunshine, and you eating sand.

    Great memories, thank you.

  • I used to go tubing every year on the Delaware River with my folks and some friends.  We would all cram into an old school bus with seats against the windows and a row of brightly colored tubes in the middle.  The driver would dump us in up river and we would get a nice tube ride down the river.  One year, I drifted off behind a private dock and could not figure out how to get myself back into the current. Some “old guy” (who was probably much younger then than I am now — ahem) threw me a line that he was using to keep his beer cold in the river.  I was rescued by a drinkin’ dude!!

  • Yes!  I have been down the Apple River, in Wisconsin–it was relaxing and fun-except when my butt hit the rocks in the shallow part!

  • I’ve been a handful of times and loved it each time. I loved the river bottom and swirly tree pictures.

  • I’ve been canoeing, but never tubing. The last time I went canoeing, our canoe capsized. I fell out on my knees, scraping them up pretty good. The canoe then came over on top of me, hitting me on my cheek and giving me a nasty bruise. When we dumped the water out of the canoe and tried to turn it right side up again, I cut my finger on the bottom of the canoe. I couldn’t get my rings off for several weeks. That’s why it’s the last time I went canoeing.

You can always use more shoes.

  • @auntlada - Okay… that made me want to cry! A tube hurts a lot less when it rolls over you!

  • I have been tubing, but it has been too long.  How wonderful, thanks for the journey of pictures.
    Hugs, Tricia

  • You are lucky to have the beautiful rivers.  In Hong Kong, we don’t have such beautiful rivers.

  • Yep.  Down the Chattahoochee & other smaller rivers in north Georgia.  Great great fun & good memories.  I wish I had pictures – bad or otherwise!  Peace

  • I like your pictures   And, yes…I have been tubing down a river.  Not lately, though…maybe I’ll have to go sometime this summer….

  • i can’t find the shot of you in your bikini !

  • @droptop11 - bikini! Try Moo moo…

Actually… cut-off sweats and a tshirt are the order of the day in the river. lol

  • @angi1972 - wet t-shirt  ?…………..hmmmmmm!

  • that looks like a great way to spend the afternoon!!!
