Grass River wanderings
The kids and I had an entire day out.
We did the Grass River hike.
We saw two gartner snakes, Charlie was upset with me for not letting him catch them.
Until…
We went to the cabin and they let the kids play with Zelda…
If Charlie had picked up the gartner snake, Zelda would have smelled it on his hands, thought he was food and tried to eat him…
So he forgave me, but let me know the next snake he saw he would be picking it up.
These guys were out in full force today, all over the board walk, but always three of four feet in front or behind us.
It was good day…
I didn’t really feel much like taking pictures though.
It was more fun to walk the trail, dangle my feet in the water of the river and enjoy my children.
So summer begins.

I love this line: It was more fun to walk the trail, dangle my feet in the water of the river and enjoy my children.
Enjoy the summer and store up memories to return and visit in the middle of the winter. Sounds like school is finally out and everyone is ready for some adventures.
Awww, cute pics of the kids! Snakes sound like a good start to the summer (for kids, anyway)! I guess those things are dragonflies? I’d be creeped out if they landed on me! :-p

You know someone told me when I was little that Dragonflies are really faries in hiding. <3
I love Summer. It’s a magical time of year.
snakes skurrrr me
I know!!!! Sometimes I’m rather upset with myself for not carrying my camera to record EVERYTHING, but it’s hard to do that and really enjoy every little moment. Peace
I LOVE snakes.
Much to my families chagrin
Great pictures Ang
I actually like snakes. the harmless kind of course!
sounds like a wonderful day!!!!
Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?
Great pics, Ang.

Great photos! Glad you had a fun day!
I like snakes, I like them along way from me! Nice pics
I am so glad you had such an awesome day, and the few pictures were good enough – as long as you enjoyed yourself! ((HUGS)) Have an awesome weekend!
Nice pictures! I went out on the rain on Wednesday to snap a few. They’re not very good. Snakes……… ewww!
I love the dragonfly. Snakes don’t scare me…..we had too many around where I grew up….I even stepped (bare-footed) on a deadly night adder in our house once.
hopefully that “next snake” won’t be a boa constrictor, anaconda, cobra, etc…
Excellent!
Sounds like a wonderful day! Today is my daughter’s last day of school (finally!), so I’ll be joining you in relaxing summer land later today!!
I feel sorry for kids who don’t have a good mother like you.
I guess I should have put like –you are a good mom
mmmmsssnakesss
I’m glad you had fun!
Sounds perfect. I love that summer feeling.
I can do with out little snakes though. They make me more paranoid than the big ones. Eeeeek!
Great pics, as usual. I like the dandilion, probably in part becasue I know how hard they are to capture / focus on camera, but you did a great job. The dragonfly is pretty. I don’t think I’ve seen such a short fat brown one. The ones here are long, skinny and blue. Yours look like a catapilar with wings.
The cat in the background… was it real or Memorex? (stuffed)
Cool outing! I am glad you had a great time with your kids. THat is so important!
Big hugs! Tracy
I hate snakes, even pictures of them make my stomach turn inside out!!! Cody keeps saying things like “he is going to bring home a snake for a pet” and he even asked if he could bring home the class snake over Christmas…I told him sure if he had another home to stay in! Nope snakes are off limits here!!!
@jillcarmel - Thanks Jilly! (((HUG))) Psst… today they are getting on my nerves something awful though… when does school start again. lol Nah we’re off to the beach! Hope your taying cool!
Pretty pretty dandelions!
My kids are totally fascinated by snakes, my son wants a Children’s Python when we get back to Oz…. hmmm not sure how I feel about that just yet!
x
lovely shots, esp. the dandelions.
oooooh snakes – I try not to scream when I see them, in photos or on TV…
but my oldest went on a field trip and she petted a snake there, which made me happy.
As usual, your photos are awesome. That is pretty interesting about the snake. Frankly, I would be touching either one.
Have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend.
Hugs, Tricia
Oh, and Charlie is such a cutie… reminds me of my Charlie when he was younger.
Wonderful pics. Enjoying nature and family is one of the best ways to spend the day
it sounds like ya’ll had a wonderful day!! but the snakes? ewwwww!! snakes have always wigged me out!
So good to see a day in the life through the eyes of the bearded lady.
Have a great weekend,
what kind of a snake is zelda? i didn’t know a snake will eat another from the smell.
If you want to see an old man go to heaven, put a snake on my lap. I know a few girls have sat on the laps of a few snakes, but that is different. I hate snakes.
Hugs
frank
Sounds like a fabulous day was had by all. Great pics, love the dandelion one!
Snakes give me the shits!
I posted a crazy bug pic JFY! FYI, JFU means Just For You!
aw i love your pictures of the dandelion!
i just want to make a wish ^^.
Our first house had snakes up the ying yang and they found there way up the sump pump line into the basement often. When Jeff was little his mother used to give him a quater a snake for the ones he would go down and blast against the wall with his hockey stick.
Your fear is not so irrational used to have a dream about a big pike slicing me across the chest.
I got bit by a garter snake when I was a kid…I let him get away with it too.
