Reminiscing
Satori had the song Pink Moon by Nick Drake posted on her site today and it reminded me of this commercial.
When we first got married Ben bought me a Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible. I loved that car, I miss it.
We drove it through the mountains of Utah, the deserts of Arizona and across California…
I loved that car.

I know what you mean, Girly, about loving a car. Especially a car like that–it’s such a non-Mom type of vehicle. I look back at some of the smaller, cuter cars I once drove and I kind of miss that whole time in my life!
I had a mustang that I felt that way about. Just drive……..
all my favorite songs are now commercials.
Funny how many people on Xanga know Nick Drake’s music. I have “Been Smokin’ too Long” up on my MySpace page. My favorite car of all was the ’57 Nomad wagon I bought in South Carolina right before I got out of the Air Force. Still had it when I met Karen, and about 4 years after. Lots of “good” memories of that Chevy!
Ahhhh Happy memories! I have never seen anything like those pictures of the fluff!! That is so strange.
Forgive me, but I’m an ignorant person. I don’t know who Nick Drake is, lol. Aww, reminiscing about driving and cars, really nice. Too bad I can’t reminisce about those things because I don’t have a car and I can’t drive in the first place. Downright sad, *sigh*
Reminiscing = Remembering what you’re missing.
lol
I could not figure why it reminded you of your car, glad I played the second so I could figure it out!!! That looks like a fun car. Thinking back the most fun car I owned was my Camaro, it had a corvette engine and T-Tops that came out to make it really tough ride!!! Gosh, I loved that car!!! I drove that from Chicago to the upper peninsula of Michigan with my Grandmother! What a funny thing to see her pour out of such a tough car!!! I had so many good trips in that car before getting something that did not take so much gas. Only a week after I traded I regret doing it!!!
my fav was the jeep. and the fact that I could afford gas to drive like that **sigh**
That’s awesome. I don’t have a car that has memories.
cool vids. I have several cars that have went away over the years and sometimes I will think back and have a moment of silence for the dependable vehicle I lost.
Songs usually bring back memories for me, too.
I would have loved that car too – LOL!
RYC : Thanks for the thoughts on Becky….I am exhausted! She is STILL coughing like mad!
Sometimes it is good to reminisce…. I love VW’s – we have a canary yellow VW camper – which is off the road at the moment, but we are hoping to get it going again. It is excellent to go camping with and here in the UK when you drive through all the narrow country lanes one can see over the hedges – and get a warning of oncoming traffic!!!!! Otherwise, I am a bit crazy for motorbikes….
I have fond memories of the first car I drove…a Ford Pinto (of course as nostalgic as I am, I would never want to drive another one). And after seeing the movie “Cujo” (in which the Ford Pinto plays a pivitoal role) I don’t think I ever will again.
I like the Cabriolet commercial. My very first car was a Chevelle but I have been driving VW Golfs for over 25 years!!!
Nick Drake! I love this guy.. what a great artist.
My friend and I once sat around trying to make a perfect mix tape, and this was the song we tried to make the mix around. No easy task, let me tell you. It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Goose bumps. Every time.
I’m glad you’re a V’dub lady, Angi. I drive a Jetta, and I love that car so, so much.
Again, I enjoyed my stay, but now I have to go cut the lawn. Have a great day!
Hello. Hope you’re having a good day.
Nick Drake….what can I say.Genius.(I didn’t know he was used on a Volkswagon advert though). He’s buried in a small churchyard near where Rach’s mum and dad live.I keep saying we’ll make a detour every time we go but I haven’t done it yet.I will though. Thanks for the post(I’m a bit teary eyed just listening!).Did you know that the song “5 leaves left “was about a Rizzla packet warning….”time to buy some more Rizzla, just 5 leaves left”.Just shows what you can make sound romantic if you have the spirit of an artist(and a sense of humour!).KEV
And a happy belated birthday to you too. Tomorrow was indeed a great day =]
It is a pleasure to be here, and I wouldn’t trade it for much of anything, except
for the opportunity to do more.
I never realized that the Mona Lisa looked so…
… Rugged…
Hey there, hope you had a great Memorial Day..
