  • Just so you all know… In the land of Xanga a TRUE badge and whether you have one or I have one or she or he has one means nothing to me.

Yes they are a symbol of the most frequent Xanga users but that’s it!

That tiny badge gives no more depth and meaning to your posts…

It doesn’t make you more or less creative, funny, intelligent, entertaining…

It does nothing but signify that someone has a lot of time to spend on Xanga…

If you  get one, or have one… that’s nice, it’s Xanga’s tiny way of saying thank you for using their service, and eventually everyone who does use their service frequently WILL have one I am sure.

I should point out that I am not trying to belittle anyone’s longing to have one.

I just want you all to know… everyone of you, that with or without stars on your bellies, you are all welcome on my beach anytime.

I chose you as my friends, not because you have a tiny TRUE sign by your name but because you are each special in your own way.  Through good and bad, long and short posts… funny, scary witty, boring posts… Make me cry, make me laugh, make me heave posts…

    YOU ALL ROCK!

  • it is xangas way of saying thank you to those they love, and fuck you, to those they dont.

  • I have a True Badge. Weee

  • i actually just recieved my badge today…

although i would like to think i put at least some depth into my postings.

  • Nice post, hehe.

    ~Misa

  • If you have a TRUE sign, you obviously don’t have a life. Oh wait, I have one….

  • that is a nice post…

  • @antisoccermom - Oh baby.      I don’t think they put that much thought in to it… I wouldn’t be surprised if its all computerized and someone just looks at it once in awhile… I just want you too feel better.  (((((((HUG))))))

You are no less you without it in my heart… you’ll get it.

  •  . . .make it unanimous!

    Sandra, singing . . .it’s your true colors shining through . . . .

  • @lyricsninja -

wow you received your true badge today??? that’s really cool, CONGRATULATIONS. :]

  • Now that is a classic sentiment.  (I’ll recommend you, ofcourse)…

    Until later…

  • very true indeed.. i have wanted a true badge, too, but realized its just like a christian bumper sticker on the back of a car, it means nothing if you don’t back it up with good dribing (in this case good posts!)

  • @FishBowlB - Yeah… I know you don’t have  life. :-b

Shove the kids back in the closet and get on the computer!

  • Aww.. I like that one.  I really didn’t care about my true badge anyways.. I was like, what if I don’t want this!?

    PS: You rock too!

  • can you DECLINE a TRUE badge?

  • @angi1972 -

It isnt about getting it anymore. I dont even care to have it because its so meaningless when its been given just for the sake of getting someone to shut up. I love writing, and I do it for that alone. I just happen to live off of it too. They know its the right thing to do, and arent giving me one because they hold that power.
which isnt at all what a blogging community should be about.

  • testing one two three…

  • I just wanted to see if I still have my badge.

  • Am I correct in assuming you make stained glass panels?

  • @Aloysius_son - It’s isn’t about the stars on our bellies! No one is watching the video!

I know YOU know the Star Belly Sneeches story though. lol

And YES… that would be a correct assumption…  Need some glass work? Trade you for a three hump camel! lol

  • @antisoccermom - live as in making your income that way?

  • Yes, I make every dime that comes into my household  from writing. I write for magazines, a local newspaper called the scene, and randoms like xanga and myspace drive traffic to a  few different blogging sites I have. This is what i do.

    @relaxolgy -

  • Oh, now I’d wanna gie you a big hug, but I’m too shy…
Your friend invite meant a lot to me because at the same time you left me a comment saying you looked forward to getting to know me…
and I do enjoy you beach, it has a friendly and chilled out atmosphere, nice eye candy from your camera and interesting questions

  • @relaxolgy - Thank you. You always say the nicest things.

  • Nicely stated!

  • Nice post you!!  (((HUGS)))

  •  Dingdongdang it!  Do you mean we are not all here for fame and glory and popularity contests?

Actually, I was away when that feature was added so I didn’t really even know what it was about.  I just looked at it and thought “whatever”

  • I admire your impartiality in a way, but would not make an effort to try and emulate it.  I don’t like boring posts or those that make me want to heave, but I do know that occasionally boring or nauseating writers do write fascinating or hugely informative posts and marvelous writers can get sickening or boring sometimes.  I read everyone, and I ignore the badges, the numbers of commenters, groupies or fans.  I even try to ignore eye-straining color schemes, but that’s much more difficult.

  • @angi1972 - I can’t fit them in the closet, my sexuality is in there taking up all the space…. I’M JUST A SWEET TRANSVESTITE FROM TRANSSEXUAL-VANIA!!!!!!

  • Amen and back to the drawing board.

  • I love those star bellied Sneetches, the world could learn so much from them!!! You dear Angi are a sweetie!!!

  • I’se a true bellied sneetch.

Does anyone really snub anybody without one?  Weird.

  • i finally got my true badge today……allegedly i couldn’t have one at first because i’m on friends lock….i’ve prevailed though……..and i rock!

  • just remember, Ang…i love you, true-ly…he he he…and, i knew you, before either of us had a badge…

  • I didn’t even know there was such a thing!!! LOL… shows how with it I am

  • @TheGreenPanther -

yay, for the Pantha…i don’t get around  to your site often, but i am a fan..peace…animal

  • one more thing…our next show, in Chicago, is june 28, at the Hidden Cove…you have been notified…that is all

  • here here…what a lovely post.  :)

  • @MManhoff1 - I could NEVER forget that!

  • @MManhoff1 - hmmm… I will be on a trip to PA… should be headed back around that time… I don’t know if I go through Chi town… I will check it out.

  • @angi1972 -

i’ll be happy to see you, whenever that happens…if you wait too long, however, i may be too famous, to be accessible…just kidding…you’ll always make “the list”…hugs…mike

  • Well done, you.

  • And I USED to really want my true badge,darn…………………………..lol

  • What a heart warming post! It takes a special person to go out of their way to make others feel special!

    Michael

  • True dat…..Now give me my badge…….I am on here as much as any of you………….I think I am like only 90%……..

  • @Aloysius_son - Snicker!  This is a good example of how many get badges.  Just break the message up into repetitious pieces.  Or one can repeat post.  Is it really how frequent within a period of time, or is it just total number of posts?  Seems a badge would be easiest the less thought and effort one put into each post. Hi, today is (todays date), kind of thing.

  • I unsubscribed to everyone who updated so many times a day just because they want a true badge. Not anything against them, but after a few weeks it seemed silly.

Quality, not quantity! (wait, why do I have one? oh yeah, I used to write pretty well on here… better get back to that)

@AngelaRobin - No one has been snubbed that I’ve seen, and I’m on here WAY too much. Now do some people not have one that deserve it? Yes, but I don’t really know what qualifies anyone, and like Angi said… it really doesn’t make anyone a better writer.Xangan. Most of my faves (good quality writers who only update a few times a week if that) don’t have the badge, and they don’t care.

  • Glad you feel that way.  I saw it, but to be honest, I never even thought about it.  I didn’t realize that people got so into it.  Very odd to me since this is just a computer site.

  • @adifferentkindofbeautiful -  I was completely surprised by my true badge (I got one when they first came out). I think it was because I have been logging in at least once a month (or more when I wasn’t living lean) and writing something for the last five years.

I don’t think much of the reward system on Xanga, but I LOVE the site.

  • took me ages to get my badge….it doesn’t change anything…in fact now that I have one they seem very common.

  • hmm, I thought it was something they gave everyone… all you had to do was ask? was I wrong?

  • @Rbynfairy - Nope the option to get one is there for everyone though… you just have to be patient and do what you do! Use Xanga! Post daily and comment others.

  • TRUE or not, its about xanga and about LIFE, at its PREMIUM. Love it or leave it, enjoy it or sulk about it. I laugh about it. Thank you for the good post.

  • very true :)

    Rachel~

  • Does a true sign mean a lack of a true life?  Glad we, your friends, don’t need some symbol to prove worthy.  Will be pulling up some pictures tomorrow.  I will go back through the old posts where I stuck them and re post or just pull them out of the photo file.  Will let you know.

  • you rock!
(and you are TOO cute! i love sneetches, hooray)

  • Ah, what a sweet post. I was out and about today, and didn’t get in till late, but please watch my post in the next day or so. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon, I will post about my today, with pictures, and yes, I remembered you while I was out, and took pictures of some doors too! LOL HUGS!!! Tracy

  • Yeah, I’ve been noting my slow progress… Apparently I my number of blog entries is “below average”.  I think I’ve been quite chatty.  I think my husband has seen a thing or two on Xanga before I’ve told him directly!  If I blogged any more, the dog wouldn’t get walked, the laundry wouldn’t get folded, etc. etc!

  • I hate that stupid TRUE badge…and I have one!  It really does mean nothing!

  • I love you Ang,you are an awesome commentor and blogger ,on of the best!

  • Haaaaa, that’s great! I love the Sneeches! It was so funny, the other day, I read ‘What Was I Afraid Of’ You know,,  the pale green pants story.. to my 15 year old. She was under the covers and I made her listen to it again like when she was a little girl. She was giggling. It was a nice moment you know. Anyway, I didn’t even know what those ‘TRUE’ things were for. I guess I’ll never get one because I hardly have any time for Xanga! I just squeeze it in when I can. Thanks for the Sneech story :) Now I can go to bed

  • Darn–if I could get one, maybe I could sell it?  For a cup of coffee?  :)

  • Awwwwww I needed that.
Hehe, was starting to feel deficient without the myriad of badges next to my name!

  • Nice post! I love xanga bloggers! :D

  • LOL – and of course you ROCK THE MOST!  Loving you Angi!

  • A lot of people on xanga remind me of the song “Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones.  It’s like everyone wants free shit, more modules, and more pictures.  What happened to posting?!?!?  Ya know, posting to express, not to get all these extra items?

haha! J/k.  I done a few surveys to get xanga premium so I can get all them extras.

  • I don’t see what the big deal is about the true badge.  It’s just another thing Xanga added to their ever-growing list of new features.  Whoop de do.  I didn’t join Xanga to become popular; I came here to blog.  To me, that’s still what Xanga is all about.  The new features are nice, but I’m not ga-ga over them.  I will admit, I like the credits, and I’m doing my best to earn 100,000 and get free Premium.  Other than that, I just blog and comment and sub and enjoy the company.

Ironically enough, my b/f just applied for a true badge and it turned out she qualified.  I’m happy for her, and I thought about applying too just for the hell of it.  It’d be interesting to see what would happen if I did.  But I won’t cry if I don’t get it.  I love Xanga anyway.

  • You rock, Angi.

  • Today’s post has several pictures of doors to add to the fun.  Thanks again for including me.

  • @antisoccermom - Wow, you’re incredible.

  • I love you too Angi, your the best!

  • I’m thinking that the “LIFE” badge is the one I’d like to have… I might as well at this point. My big hesitation is that really? Is this company going to be around and providing services I want for the REST OF MY LIFE? That might surprise me a bit.

  • aww, so true.  good post.

    ryc: thanks. :)

  • I’d never really thought about the badge. It’s like geocaching….the numbers are cool, but what do they mean? absolutely nothing. Or, the more numbers / badges you have, the less of a life you have because it’s time consuming earning them.

Oh, and I believe in qaulity instead of quantity, so I don’t have a TRUE badge and probably never will. And I’m okay with that. LOL

  • hmmmm what does the false badge look like?

  • You made a great point here, I wish for others to read this and understand it – you’re absolutely right! =)

  • Badge??? What badge???  I just get on here, check on you guys, share some of my stuff, & then get on with it.  I guess I need to check it out tho – maybe I’ve got some sort of reward coming that I didn’t know about.  Like at Sunday school when you got little stars by your name for memorizing bible verses.  Peace

  • I want an apodictic badge!

  • @Basilwire - You know I had to goole that! Meanie! :-b lol

    Necessarily or demonstrably true; incontrovertible.

  • I haven’t got a clue what you mean by stars on me belly, but I like it.Shall we have a game of frisby on your beach..IL LOVVVVVVVE frisby. Can we please, please, please can we

  • Ha ha ha ha, and I so desperately wanted a true badge so that everyone who read my posts thought that what I was saying was true.  Now they will all think I’m posting false stuff – but then you need a little artistic licence with your stories.

Thanks for posting this.  It is a nice touch, and nice to be made welcome.

  • Just a quick note to let you know how much I enjoy the door posts you share!  Good stuff!  Peace

  • @kevrach - You have to watch the video to get the reference. lol Star Bellied Sneeches, by Doctor Suess… lol

OF COURSE! We can play frisby… What every you want dear! lol

  • Spoken like an enlightened Wemmick. Amen.

  • You are a sweetheart and I want to say how much I appreciate that even though I dont have alot of time to get out here to Xangaland and visit with all my friends that no matter how short my post, or how long between posts you always stop and say hi  :)      Thank you so much, you make me smile !

  • This whole issue is only a problem to people with a false sense of entitlement. I mean… holy sweet Buddha… the TRUE badge is supposed to be a gift, not something you have to demand like a little baby. If you start a beef with the Xanga staff, then that’s like saying you don’t care that they give you a place and a community to blog in.

They don’t owe anyone shit… even if someone makes the minimum requirements, it’s still the Xanga Team’s gift to give. Making a big deal about it is one thing, but getting a bunch of Xangans fired up against the Xanga Team doesn’t earn any respect.

  • hey great point!

  • @angi1972 - Ooops.Seen it now.What a great philosophy to teach everyone.Fantastic.(Still wanna play frisby though!!)

  • We love the Sneetches! Great use of Dr. Seuss!!!

  • Oh honey You are so special….and you don’t need a star…..YOU are one of a kind special special person wife mom sister dauaghter … You are Lov…all rolled into one very Loveing careing person…Lov ya ton’s mom………….

  • I love the Sneeches! Sorry, I am a little overly into cartoons, possibly because I am just not ready to let go of my childhood.
But you have a great message here. It doesn’t matter how many hours you spend on here, or how many friends you have, or whether or not you have a badge next to your name. It only matters that you say something when you have something to say.

  • I wasn’t given a True badge… but this makes me feel so much better.
