UGH
My extra appendage is having issues…
Ben says my hard drive is getting ready to fail!
What will I do? I am about to be technologically crippled and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
I remember there was a time that I didn’t carry my computer from room to room with me, that I went to the parks and play grounds with a book, not a computer. I have forgotten what that’s like. I guess I’m going to get a refresher course, whether I want one or not.
Well such is life.
Don’t feel sorry for me, I live in a house that has six operational desk tops and then there is Ben’s laptop. So I’ll still be around Xanga, but none of them are MY baby.

Ben will be able to fix it, He can fix ANYTHING.
**********************EDIT**************************
Sure enough I get on one of the other computers and whine about it… and what happens… Ben fixes it.
We will however be ordering a new hard drive in the next week or so, because it is inevitable. I do save my pictures and music on an external hard drive.
I am prepared for the end.

That’s precisely the reason I invested in the external hard drive…..I’m sure mine will die any time now.
Maybe when Ben is done with yours you can send him over to my place
The external hard drive sounds like a good idea.
everyone has to crash now and again. Its how we grow.
Ben to the rescue!! That is my job here as well. I think I’ve changed more hard drives and reloaded Windows more times than I’ve cooked a family meal…yep that’s the way I like it. Each to our own specialty.
OMG – how dreadful! I went without a computer for two years. It may happen, again – who knows – I may decide “enough, already”….but not today!
Today I found the perfect thing to send you for your mail art! Actually, I had a tooth pulled (talk about UGH!) and was so brave and good (not – VERY dentist phobic . . . but I didn’t cry, so that was a good thing . . .) that they let me pick out a prize- ha!
When you are ready (before your computer crashes!) if you send your address I will send you that prize…assuming the post master is in an especially good mood ((sigh)) I will explain it to him . . .he likes me, and knows I’m an artist, so . . . hope you had a good day out in the so-called “real” world.
Sandra
I would die.
just die.
Ben sounds like a pretty good guy, I bet he does fix it. I feel for him tho, anytime someone in our family has something that doesn’t work there’s like a universal “Give it to Bud-he’ll fix it!!” cry goes out, and, sooner or later,I ‘fix” it!! lol But,as long as YOU are not Xanga deprived, all’s right with the world. Damn,I only have 3 desktops and 1 laptop-I gotta buy more stuff!!!
I love my external backup drive for that reason. But let Ben rescue it, he will feel good about himself.
@TheGreenPanther - I use one too, Gotta bck up the pictures, it would be HORRIBLE to lose those.
@buddly47 - Yeah… he’s pretty spectacular.
And your right, we constantly have people dropping their computers off… We get a lot of free things and services through work exchange… it’s kinda nice.
Lucky you! A fix it guy is a wonderful thing to have in you life. You deserve it!I always love see you in my comments section. You say the sweetest things. I ended up feeling so good. I’m down to two boots now. I had this obsession with exotic skins…ring tail lizard, iguana, python etc. They’ve been photographed. They’ve been painted. And now they have been given away.
Glad you caught it early . . .
and the Magnolia tree looks like it’s happy in its new home . . .
Ugh is right
How have you been girlie?
What a royal pain! But if I were you I’d go an hug that guy of yours for fixing your computer!!! Mine would only sigh and maybe kick the thing if it went out on us now!!!!
Ack! Good luck with your baby!
Trish
Ingredients for a nightmare…
I was just gonna ask about your pix,oh if mine died I would have to sneak out to the greenhouse!
My condolences. =P
Oh no. I can never live without my computer, but I did lose 4 years worth of pictures, my brother reformated the computer before I could send them to my new laptop.
Another reminder of the impending doom we constantly risk by not having an external hard drive, not backing up our PC drive.
If it weren’t for my sibs, I’d be totally ignorant of blogs and ‘zines and such. But if I want to keep current with what the nieces and nephews are doing long distance, I needed to learn to navigate online photo albums, blogs, etc. And it’s fun. And now, look at me! I’m blogging!
Sounds like its time to set up some type of centralized redundant storage on your home network. I’ve been putting it off for a while too, but now a days storage is so inexpensive, you can get giant uberbyte drives for cheap. Yes, i said uberbytes, I made that up.
Sad news Angi, I know – my thoughts are with you!
But what a relief that you CAN STILL XANGA – LOL!
Okay chikka, thanks for all the nice comments and stuff, I just love you and think you’re SUPER! Check out my blog – theres an awesome pic you may like!
@meganbarnard - I’m sorry! I am a dope complaining when you have to go weekends without!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that its over soon though!
@streetphotos - uberbytes? That’s why YOU THE MAN! ;-b
@siennachartreuse - AWWW So I missed the boat on the boots! I have painted my clogs before too! lol Sometimes you just have to. lol I really ill be keeping my eyes open for boots now… they aren’t easy to come by in these parts though. When I am done taking pictures I will make them into bird houses. lol Thanks for the geat idea…
(It’s easy to say sweet things to you. )
I forgot to ask! Did you do the ticket thing?
I’m glad it’s all fixed!
@angi1972 - DONT BE SILLY! Its awful for you too – never ever apologise for complaining for something that affects you in an adverse manner, no matter WHAT someone else may be going through – YOU and YOUR problems are JUST AS IMPORTANT! Love you Angi!
I sure would be lost without my computer! I am glad Ben was able to fix yours. I have a handy, computer-savy husband or I would have been “up the creek without a paddle” many times! I love the stained glass piece you are working on. I always wanted to be able to do that. I love colored glass when the light shines through it. Thanks for stopping by and subscribing.
Go Ben go!
bummer
I hate it when my computer dies. So far we’ve kept ahead of the major disasters, but it’s funny – on days that my hubby works on mine or it’s otherwise out of my reach….I actually get things done. If he were smart he’d lock my computer down one day a week and allow me to get something done. Then again, NOOOOOOOOO.
I feel sorry for you. Once I went off Xanga for 2 months and got a lot of work done! LOL!
It’s kinda like putting a pet to sleep, isn’t it? It’s so hard, then later after its done, you eventually get another pet, and even though you love the new one like crazy, you still miss your old pet, huh? (((((HUGS))))) Tracy
Losing a hard drive is emotionally traumatizing. Don’t forget to reach out to those you care about in this trying time.
Also, never forget the lost hard drive. Forgetting about it and running off with a new one is a horrible betrayal. Mm-hmm.
The most certain way to make sure that your hard drive fails:
1) Put something important on it
2) Don’t have a back up of the important thing anywhere else
Cosmic law decrees that such a drive will fail. Whereas drives that get backed up will survive a fire that burns up the rest of the computer…go figure….
Wow! Can you figure out a way to cline Ben? You’d never have to work again. I thought he was pretty wonderful when you posted him playing the piano, but being able to fix the computer is just that much better. Or, if you can’t clone him, maybe you could sell him as a timeshare…
@rubymay1029 - OH NO! LOL HE’s ALL MINE! ;-b
@angi1972 - Oh yeah… I was a bit unclear when I said, She aims, she shoots, she scores. It went well. Even her husband said that I really got her! All in good fun. This is a very fun group so I knew I was safe.
Rats, I’m on my third hard drive! Not fun at all!
ryc: financially selective, i like that. but sometimes i am cheap.
the cat’s not drunk, she just likes to roll around on concrete. since i’m not an alley cat, i can’t say that that wouldn’t feel good
that’s some zaniness you got going in your work space there
