BEWARE THE HYPOTHETICAL part 3
We have company coming this weekend.
I know its going to be fun, but I still can’t help wanting to hide.
The very COOL thing is that it is sunny out!
SO I am posting pictures of things I want to GET HERE!
I have all of the curtains open and I’m cleaning like a crazy person!
I just wish I could tell I had cleaned.
I only have half a mountian of laundry now to get through.
OK the moment you’ve all been waiting for!
HYPOTHETICAL
I once read an article that said you should NEVER give up your bed to guests.
Would you give up your bed to guests?
Why or why not?
Comments (58)
Sure I would and I have… just out of consideration for there comfort.
dan
you need a pic of coop’s belly to stick in the middle of those two pics
I have never heard of such…granted in old days when school chums would swing by, they got the couch. still would except I now have a guest bedroom. However, before we did have an extra bedroom, if the parents or other older relative came to visit they were offered the best bed in the house-which was ours.
no sun here-or rather not much **sigh**
I need to clean today, as well. And I really don’t WANT TO.
I would never give up my bed to guests. Never. The idea of someone else sleeping on MY bed creeps me out for some reason. Perhaps, if I put a plastic mattress cover over my mattress for while they slept on it then I could deal with it. Otherwise…no.
We could use some sunshine here. We got 3 inches of snow last night. White stripes are awesome. I own all there CD’s!
I would never give up my bed for a guest.
What happened to your other post?
I wouldn’t mind giving my bed up.
we never give our bed to guest
I think it’s stress that makes us want to run even though it’s something good
Oh sorry
I’ve seen it. Hehe.
I never give up my own bed for guests. I make my kids give up their beds! My son doesn’t live at home anymore, so there’s a queen sized bed in his old room, and if there are more guests and we need an extra bed, I make my daughter give hers up and sleep on the couch.
@WakeUpLaughing - That’s what MY parents did too! I have NO problem with that. lol
nope. i don’t give up my bed to anyone.
I am of that old school of thought that you should never give up your own bed for a guest. And if anyone did that for me I’d feel really guilty that they had to do that, to the point of just getting a hotel room. There’s just something about having a guest sleep in a bed where you and your spouse sleep, and do *wink, wink* other things. I wouldn’t feel comfortable there, and I know many of my guest would feel the same. I’m lucky enough to have two guest beds available and a blow up matress that is quite comfy… along with guests who don’t mind sleeping on a blow up matress when its the only thing available.
So the long explanation to your question is, no- I would not give up my bed at home to a guest… any other bed, gladly… but not my own bed.
I’m not fond of beds. i like curling up with a blanket on the floor in front of the fireplace. And, no, i won’t give it up. It’s MY spot!
I am fortunate….I have 2 guest bedrooms as we don’t have any kids…..
We have just had my husbands daughter stay for a week and before that I was frantically running around cleaning. She left today and I am just chilling…..lovely…..
RE “The Humpalumpalaff”
… there are various aspects of the work that do not show up in the photo, in particular the variety of textures and specialty pigments I used.
The canvas is hand stretched and unprimed. Priming is not absolutely necessary when working with acrylic.
I applied ultra fine copper and brass filings to the surface in various areas, bonded with a thin clear base that are highly reflective in the right light. It is very subtle and doesn’t come across in the photo. The sky has special pigments (fine mica dust with cobalt) which opalesce when viewed under the right light.
I did complete the rendering of the clouds to more aptly suit the overall image, nothing drastic, but slightly different from the posted photo. Most viewers wouldn’t notice the difference right away, unless it was pointed out to them.
Much of the earth portion of the landscape is virtually raw canvas with nearly raw pigment, applied in a wash manner, whereas the figures and the beast are thicker applications of multiple layers including a clear base with added color. The greenery uses still slightly different texture and application techniques.
I didn’t post this additional information but have been sharing it with biddders
Thank you!
I would share my bed with a female guest… does that count? …
… My wife says “No you won’t!”
Ahhh well…
Because my bed’s too small. I think.
My bed’s not very comfortable anyway, so no, I guess not.
Of course! If I am close enough to them to invite them to stay then I want to ensure their comfort.
i don’t like the idea of giving up my bed…and it’s the only one in the house…i’d rather chip in for a motel room LOL!
I never have… I don’t like the idea. I may never do it either. Except for a very special guest, like my mom or something.
I’m a very giving person, but I don’t give up my bed. I’m not saying that I never would, but I’m quite reluctant to do so . . .
RYC: The UPS whiteboard guy — the guy in the UPS commercials that draws on a white board. “It’s not just shipping . . . it’s UPS shipping.”
Hmmm… depends on the guest. My parents or other older relatives? Sure. Casual friends? Probably not. We have a sleep number bed; and it’s really hard to give it up…
Only for my mom.
Hmmmm-No!! Had to as a child, didn’t like sleeping on the floor while visiting relatives slept in MY bed. We have two extra bedrooms now and the Holiday Inn is just up the road(lol).
Probably not…slept in my sister’s bed while visiting once…was not comfortable with it…took the sofa on the rest of the visits…
I’d give you the shirt off my back if you needed, but I don’t give up my bed. I have a queen size blow up bed from Costco (its awesome and probably more comfy than my bed).
I have done that many times…our room was usually the only private bathroom….in this house, we have other options….but if it’s an older person, I still do.
Normally no, but after my mom’s surgery I brought her to my house to take care of her and we did then, I think for just the first night. Now we have a guest bedroom at home so the point is moot.
Bedroom is usually too messy for guests. so no I wouldn’t lend it out.
Have a great weekend!
I’d always give up my bed for a guest.
The sun is out today, which means that all this snow we got yesterday will soon disappear, yay! I’ve also been cleaning like crazy!
of course i would! why wouldn’t you?
i mean, you wash the sheets first of course.
Yes I would give up my bed for certain guests. My parents for suer, but they only live 15 mins away so I don’t have too…. but I would. I love the feet in the sand picture!
I like the White Stripes and sand between my toes.
thanks for the comment =)
i like ur work very much!
take care =)
I’m assuming you don’t mean so they can haul it away
I have one bed and one couch. The bed’s mine.
I love the photo–why is it a child never feels the need to brush the sand off their feet? Wonderful.
Every summer when we go on vacation, we turn over our house to a college student so they can take care of it and our big ‘ol lovable chocolate lab! The house, the deck, the firepit, the woods, the refrigerator, and our big brass bed is theirs for the week just so our doggie can stay in his own home!
I sleep on the floor comfortably so I do not mind giving up my bed ,it is the best one in the house,I’D GIVE IT TO YOU!
@seedsower - AWW Thank you! I don’t think I would feel comfortable taking someone elses be from them though! Besides… I don’t mind the floor either. lol
TIme to hit the hay for me… I hurtin places I didn’t know I still had… I haven’t figured that one out yet. ;-b
Only if they want to share/snuggle with me. I love my bed, not willing to voluntarily part with it. ps, comany is always fun. And the GOING is to Memphis. =)
I know about mountains of laundry, Darling. I hope you made it through all those loads of whites and colors…
And, no…I wouldn’t give my bed up. I’m a selfish b***h.
Cool pictures!
And I have given up my bed to guests out of politeness and all that good stuff, hehe.
Have a wonderful weekend and hopefully you will enjoy your company!
*hugs*
Cool pics! And no, I don’t think I would. Not that people visit me for overnight stays often enough to worry about it… like, ever.
Trish
I don’t like the idea of giving up my bed….I would make room in my house and spend money on a new bed for my guest before giving up my bed.
Later,
Gina
It is all depending on the guest, whether or not I will give up my bed to them.
i don’t give up my bed …… but my room is such a mess i wouldn’t even allow anyone in it ! LOL
Sure, we’ve done it. We consider it polite. Like standing up for a lady or older person.
I have done it and I have had it offered to me. But I would not do it for just anyone. It is the generous and kind thing to do.
Love your pictures. Happy cleaning.
i LOVE the pic of the sandy feet!!! and would i give up my bed to a guest? more than likely…….
I let my guests sleep on Quin’s bed, and put Quin on the floor in his sister’s room. But I’ve only ever had single guests that would be comfortable in a single bed. I suppose if we had a couple staying with us, Jeff and I would put an air mattress on the floor in Kendrah’s room and sleep there and give up the bed. It’s all about comfort and displacing as few people as possible.
When my MIL spends the night, she usually sleeps on the couch.
I think it depends on who it is. We do have a full bed in the guest room (and my art room) but if they would be more comfortable in our room and I invited them I would gladly give up my room. They just need to know that the old dogs bed is in there and she snores! If they are OK with that, its theirs!!!!
I would give up my bed to guests if it was the only good bed in the house and my guests were my elderly parents.
I would give up my bed but I’d rather not. my room is always really messy and chaotic and it’s easier to make a kid clean up theirs and offer it up. I don’t have too many guests anyway.
Sure. I usually have to sleep on the couch in the living room whenever we have guests. As long as I have a blanket and a pillow, I’ll live.
