  • A DOOR FROM ME!

    I saw them again.

This time they didn’t even lift their heads except for this one… once.

After five minutes of waiting for them to DO something Cooper yelled at me and told me it was time to get in the car and GO!

They must be getting used to silly people like me…

that or I didn’t smell as bad today…

    Amical Doors.jpg

Okay taking pictures of DOORS is a lot harder then I thought it would be…

How do I give them character?

These are some of my favorite doors.

There is always WONDERFUL food and ambiance on the other side.

    Amical.

  • I love those doors!  When I get a house of my own I want front doors that look like these!  Beautiful!

  • A little bit of contrast will give them some character but I think they already have quite a bit on their own!

  • great looking doors!

  • The photo of the deer is calender good ,i mean just beautiful. I love the setting as well as the animals. That pair of doors looks substanial and quaint all in one.I find the idea of your challenge very cool because it invites a person to really notice the extra in things ordinary.

  • lol-what exactly did you expect them to do?

    I love the doors-those are beautiful !

  • @k8tthelate - I was hoping that they would at least lift their heads! They didn’t even do that! lol I thought about makng noises… but I am not one for taughnting wildlife… and if they were THAT content on eating they must have been hungry! lol

  • Door have such detail. Get closer!

RYCs: Alan! I’d like to see some of the images from that camera! Please…

You mean from the Mamiya?  I have been posting pictures! The first two pictures of that post were made from the Mamiya so was the picture of “Beth” 2 post previously. You can tell because the photos made with that camera are square.

  • Ang,

Those deer are beautiful!!! I think they might be getting use to you!!!

I like your doors, they are beautiful!!! I do think you could get closer for a more detailed shot!!!

  • @angi1972 -there was a group like that up in Virginia last fall…I kept trying to get pictures of them, but they kept deliberately turning their backs to me. I came home with a flash card full of deer butts!

  • Love your photos, Angi. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend.

  • Love the knockers!

  • @seedsower - LOL So glad it wasn’t a GUY saying that! lol

they are cool arent they! lol

  • I love those doors, you don’t need to give them character they have it all on their own.  You just need to have the right eye behind the camera and you love have a great eye.

Allie and I have wanted to take pictures of all the rabbits and pheasants we’ve been seeing but there is nowhere to pull off the highway, boo!  Love your deer, it reminds me how much bigger American deer are compared to these little ones here.

  • 5 minutes waiting… to have such passion for photography again… sigh.

  • Oh, that door is beautiful.

Btw, Angi, what’s the whole deal about the doors?

  • Oh yeah – Happy Good Friday to you! It’s Friday here now

  • Cooper -you go boy!  pretty doors and I would just say to go early in the morning or late in the evening to get the character.  I got photo of my green door early in the am and gave it the cartoon effect.

  • Seeing deer in the wild never gets old, does it?

I love photos of doors . . .and corners . . . and windows, for that matter – anything that suggests something beyond what the viewer (voyeur) can see . . . I don’t think, however that it is your job to “give them character” -either they have it or they don’t.  Instead, I suggest, that it is your job merely to recognise that “character.” (not everyone does) I would love to see these two from the inside out, actually . . .

    Wonderful pics. Thanks for sharing.

  • Both pictures are really beautiful!  Love the window panels.

  • Love the doors, and the windows, and the knockers, and I’m a GUY!! The deer are beautiful, but here in eastern Kentucky they are so plentiful they are a huge problem on the highways-if only they would stay in the woods and fields where God intended and off of our manmade interstates!!lol

  • Taking pictures of doors isn’t difficult. Just point and shoot. You don’t have to worry about giving them character. They all have a character of their own. All you have to do is present each one.

  • I love that first photo so much. There is something about an animal out in the wilderness looking straight at you that just sleighs me.

  • Yep, until June 30th.

  • Hey, when in June? I will be there in June as well. But the end of June.

  • There is a great bar behind those doors, or at least a bottle of fine bourbon.

Bambi and Bourbon in the same post.

    Thumber that.

  • The deer pic reminds me of my old college campus.  It was near a wooded area and the deer would graze right in front of the art studio windows.  It was awesome to see them up close like that.

  • thanks for ur comment. i teach kindergarten so i get to ride those bad-ass vehicles at least once a week during play time.
i agree with you about ‘i’ve just seen a face’, it’s always been my favourite song off Help too.

i like ur little beard. it rocks. shaving is over-rated anyway.

  • Awww….how precious.

To me …. this is the only way to shoot a deer!

  • I love both pictures.  Pretty soon, you’ll be best friends with those deer.

  • the canons look better to me, lol. that is my criteria. go look at the newest eos 1d. it’s the prettiest camera

yes, how would you show doors? now i must go and shoot some

  • Great pictures.
I can barely take pictures of squirrels w/o them running away when I get close. :/
I guess i may need a telephoto lens.

  • @Gerald_Washington - Oh no… the idea is to THINK like a squirrel… lol

  • @angi1972 -

    I disagree.
You see how squirrels like scurrying back and forth on a highway when they see a car coming?
Squirrel mentality will get you killed, i assure it.

  • Lovely doors! Waving at the critters

  • @Gerald_Washington - the squirrels here aren’t dumb enough to play on the high way. lol They hide in trees. lol

I was looking for a squirrel shot I took awhile ago, and i can’t find it… I wanted to show you that I stalk all wildlife equally! lol

  • @basilhayden - There is! How did you know? I go for the deserts though not the bar. lol

  • Beautiful deer and door. I can almost smell baked bread behind the doors.

  • The stained glass windows and the dark wood give it that nice warm feeling.  Thanks for sharing!

  • it’s a beautiful door…

  • HEY sis Lov the Door’s and yes next time we need to try it from the inside looking out and see if the contrast in light comes out They are beautifull but then everything about that Place is awesome It is MY Place …I find peace there and so much more…lol hugs MOM……..

  • You are blessed Ang to be able to see those deers so close . You charm them .

    Love

    Michel

  • I forgot the door ( deer and door ) . Beautiful . Style 1920 / 30  ? The forged  iron grill makes me think of that style .

    Michel

  • @angi1972 -

Squirrels, are the rat infestation of the nearby college.
I remember one time seeing a tree start to move, but no, it was just that many squirrels on one tree.lol

  • Beautiful! Beats the metal door I have now.

  • Great pics…Poor Cooper…lol

  • Great door! I love the deer too. One of these days I’m going to walk down and photograph the deer in the fields. One day I say! :o )
