Some of What I Saw
We found these guys eating breakfast this morning, when we were coming back from eating our own.
It was hard to get a REALLY good picture of them because they move so much and there all kinds of branches in the way. I could have stayed there another ten or twenty minutes taking pictures.
Everyone had to get to work though, and now so do I,
so I will leave you with some…
BIRD BUTT!
Anyone know what kind of birds these are?
We thought they were female cardinals but then we saw the yellow ones.
Ideas?
************EDIT**********
ElevenStones recomended Pine grosebeaks. I looked them up and there they are!The males are red and the females are yellow.
Theres some information for ya for today!
Don’t you feel like your mind has been expanded.
Thank you guys!

Great shots, Angi! I’m hoping I get good zooms like this with my new toy…..we’ll find out as soon as the sun comes back out. Ugh…….could you make the freezing drizzle go away so I can go play please?
They look like finches.
Not sure but they are great pics!
They slightly resemble parakeets. Beautiful birds, whatever they are. Thanks for sharing.
@TheGreenPanther - What’s funny is they aren’t zooms! We were in the car and the birds were not ten feet from us! It was cool but the silly things kept jumping around! They just wouldn’t hold still for me. lol
I wish I could stop the drizzle for you.
Do you have the option for different lenses on your new camera? Is there a stabalizer in your zoom?
Those things? Chickens! And they’re good eatin’. Taste just like squirrels.
But seriously (and don’t tell anyone I was serious), those are beautiful shots. I have pretty birds in my backyard, but they require a fee for posing. Oh no I got un-serious again. I can’t help it!
@Kilkennys_Pub - They are really big though, the size of a cardinal or cow bird… Do finches get that big? I suppose I could get my lazy butt in gear and look them up! lol
@angi1972 - Wow…….no zooming? You’ve got a great cam. Yep, there’s a stabilizer in it, and face recognition and a bunch of other goodies I haven’t found yet. I can’t change out the lens though. I kind of like the flash, you have to pop it up manually if you want to use it. So I don’t have to remember to turn it off before I take pics since I don’t use the flash alot.
send your birdy pics here: http://www.namethatbird.com/ I just found them using google, maybe they can name your birdies.
@violarulz - OOO What fun! Thank you!
Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!
Google House finch, with all the berries to eat I would be fat also
Gold finch. They turn brown in the winter and bright yellow in the late spring. Get a finch feeder and thistle seeds, quick!
Those are some great photos. I love the red birds and berries. What kind of berries are they?
Great pics…all good but I really like the last one…RYC:…Oh boy, I want a goatee…LOL…have a great day…Rainy
Wonderful photos.
In that first one, with the focus on the tree, the bird seems a bit surreal, like a floating bird gnome . . .
The detail in the third one is amazing . . .
Love the bird butt! The only thing I can say for certain is that the red one is NOT a cardinal. Cardinals have a crest on their head and the females are mostly brown with just a hint of red.
RYC: I know that book, but don’t want to put any pressure on her for fear she will dig in her heels and never get it done.
Those pictures are BEAUTIFUL!! Wow…
I’d have to agree they look like Finches to me… the yellow one is for sure a Gold Finch… the red one I don’t know. But great shots!
I don’t know much about identifying all but the most common birds, but those pictures are gorgeous! They would make a neat set of notecards!
Kathi
so cute! i love these photos!
i agree – finches.
wow… you get 18 comments in less than 1 hour. you’re the bomb diggity!
how pretty!
Now put moustaches on ‘em.
I REALLY like the bird butt! It has a kind of “angry bluebird” quality.
You take some awesome photos, honey. The birds are very cute, looks like they were posing for you almost! I, too, think they’re finches of some sort; but I really don’t know squat about birds, so don’t take my word for it.
RYC: Thanks for the prayers. I’ll take ‘em, even if I’m not too freaked out myself… yet! I can always use some prayers!
@GailThePainterly - Gail I think their china berries… Not positive though!
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
These are beautiful pictures!!! Its so beautiful it looks like something photoshopped. Very Beautiful!!!
Wonder how they would look with facial hair???
@firefighterswife - no photoshopping in these! Just basic editing. lol no mustachiod fowl!
I don’t know what kind of birds those are. I’d love to see em here. It would mean that spring was closer.
Not a hundred percent sure but think they are Pine Grosbeaks
The red head could be a House Finch but not miss yellow britches
A Grosbeak is a 10 inch bird, a Finch a 5, if they were larger then everything would fit from the preferred food to the winter range.
very nice… I really need to get out of my rut and get out around town again… this cold weather and everyone being sick had really done me in… LOL I have a funny story about bird watching one day when you’re board I’ll tell ya…
I said finches too… but I don’t know much about birds, they sometimes freak me out… when they are all roaming around in a pack (Birds was a very scary movie when I was young)
ttfn…
@ElevenStones - You are right! Thank you. apparently the males are red and the females are yellow. Very cool.
Wow, the second one is beautiful!
I feel like a bird brain
Great shots, Ang… judging by girth of them thar birds, they are very well fed. Berries for everyone!…
dan
You know, these pics look like oil paintings from a scene in Japan…the colors are so delicate, and the birds look so pristine and calm….we should copy them, no?
Whenever you get some time, may I have some horns too???? hehehehe.
Yes I DO feel expanded. I love to see nature’s own, even in pictures, and these are beautiful little fellers
I love bird pics. Once when I was a kid I had a sticker book (for older kids) with all kinds of birds. I was mighty proud of htat book!!!
Awwww Angi! You always post the most awesome pics! And you always get to see such awesome stuff!
Have a great weekend!
nice details! oh, birdie butt, lol. I am so lame.
“I saw trees and birds, and rocks, and things…”
I dont know what types/names of birds they are, I do know that the reason why they look fat in the winter, is because they poof out their feathers to hold air in, and it keeps them warm. all birds do that. lol
great pictures though.
Those are amazing. Thank you so much for posting them. And for find their names.
you definatlety have talent on the photography front!
excellent pics! you’ve done it again, Ang
Awesome pictures—how did you get such close-ups?
Nice Tail!

I want what the bird is having!
Wonderful closeup. Telephoto lens?

I think that you have several different kinds of Finches. If there is time, I will look them up tomorrow.
WOOHOO I was right
even a blind dog finds a bone every now and then
PS I really need to check my mail more often
@ElevenStones - YES! You do… how else will you know how BRILLIANT you are! ;-b
