  • A Bit Of My Day

Went to the glass shop today as usual.

They have sold my last piece and I have nothing else done!

I have to get busy so if you don’t see me around

It’s because I’m pretending to work.

    hawk in a tree.jpg

I saw this guy on the way to work.

    Can you see him?

    Snowy old mission1-15-2008 003.jpg

    Is that better?
Can you tell how huge he is?

It’s frustrating when I can’t get the camera to capture what I see.

    Hawk in a tree2.jpg

That’s as close as I could get.

    A hawk… red tail I think.

I am dreaming of a new camera with a zoom and a stabilizer!

    Snowy old mission1-15-2008 036.jpg

Went to catch the lighthouse covered in snow.

I have decided that if I am going to be crawling around in the snow taking pictures I should wear my

    snow pants…

What a wonderful welcome I received.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

    ************EDIT************
Have you ever had a day when everything that comes out of your mouth sounds completely flaky?

You hear it coming out and know your being an airhead, but just can’t stop it?

    No?
    Umm.. Yeah, me either.

I think you were all just too polite to point it out… Leave it to my Little Sister… Of course.. she spelled comment wrong.   (Clumsy fingers run in the family.)

  • Never post pictures with your opinion pole!

Should my perfect picture search next year be for…

    1. Spider webs
    2. A bug
    3. sunrise/ sunset
    4. fungus

    What do you think?

  • OH Your GOOD…

Thank you all for the suggestions!

As a picture taker, I am always looking for the perfect shot. I take as many as I can of as much as I can and hope that I like a couple. I like searching for that ONE thing ever year though because when I lose that inspirational feeling, which I seem to do a lot lately it gives me something to look for . I have narrowed it down to these, suggested by these links… just because its fun to link others.

    1. Mushrooms, fungi, fariy rings.  prariecowboy and grievous angel
    2. spider webs   sulimb
    3. bugs        Made by dreams
    4. sunrise/sunset    Sunny Mitsu

Those are the ones I think I could find anywhere I travel…

    Which one is YOUR favorite?

Rubymay suggested the perfect underwater picture! You can bet I will be working on that everytime we go to the beach.  Shellisland suggested my Monsters… I will always work on those too… promise!

  • The pipes, the pipes are calling…

About twice a year we have plumbing problems! Yes, it has happened again… my basement is full of water and I don’t think it is something we can fix so I am sure I will have to call Roto Rooter and shell out a couple hundred bucks AGAIN…  GRRRRR…

Nothing special about these except for the fact that it is January and all of the snow is gone.

I don’t know why I’m showing you rainy day pictures except for the fact that I was just so happy I felt like TAKING pictures again…

Of course there wasn’t much around to shoot, so this is what you get.

  • Happy Birthday Big E!!!

Yesterday was Elvis’s 72? birthday. So I decided I would repost the story of my own Elvis encounter from 12/4/2006.

I just saw Elvis at the grocery store. Did I say my day was going to be boring… I was so wrong. I went to get my cart, and as I was turning around, there he was, pushing his cart through the sliding doors of the local Oleson’s store.

He was tall, about 5’11″ or 6′,although he seemed a little stooped. Everyone seems tall to me because I’m only 5’4″. He had short salt and pepper hair and black framed glasses with thick lenses.

As I turned and saw him I stopped, my cart narrowly missing a collision with his. “Go ahead” I said smiling politely. And here’s when I knew ”uhh…Thank you.” He said.  I knew it…I heard it… I felt it… that soft southern drawl that rolled quietly from his lips… It was him…I had encountered Elvis…

His head down he pushed his cart through the doors and into the store. It took me a moment to collect myself, before I followed him into the store.

Then of course I stalked him down the isles. It was Elvis. Wouldn’t you?

Through the baking isle and down the snack isle into the dairy… which is good because that’s where I had to go. It wasn’t hard to follow the blue plaid short sleeve shirt, that he wore tucked into blue jeans. He was the only one in the store, other then me, without a jacket. I run hot. (also insane)  He had a bit of a potbelly, but all in all, I would say he was in good shape for a dead guy.  I was following him towards the baked goods, when I remembered I needed Mountain Dew and he wasn’t heading towards that isle. I was torn. Do I let the King go and follow the call of my caffeine? I could tell he was nervous when I had been reading the back of the milk carton over his shoulder. I don’t like to make people uncomfortable. I imagine having to hide your identity would make anyone a bit skittish. So I left him to the donuts, fudge brownies and unclaimed birthday cakes sitting in the isle of the baked goods section and went to answer the call of my master. Hoping I would catch up with him at the register.

Unfortunately I didn’t see him again and skulking in the grocery store parking lot when Ben and the kids were at home waiting for dinner, did not seem an option. So I stopped at the video store. Picked up some movies and came home to blog about my brush with The King…

Did I say it was going to be a boring day… And for all you nay sayers… don’t rain on my parade.

I live happily with my illusion  that Elvis is alive and well in T.C. Join me next week when I will be looking for Jim Morrison at Best Buy…

I’ve been playing with PhotoShop Again…

I just really liked this photo so I saturated the color.

  •  Feeling Good
     Anthony Newley, Leslie Bricusse

Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Reeds driftin’ on by you know how I feel

    (refrain:)
    It’s a new dawn
    It’s a new day
    It’s a new life
    For me
    And I’m feeling good

Fish in the sea you know how I feel
River running free you know how I feel
Blossom in the tree you know how I feel

    (refrain)

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don’t you know
Butterflies all havin’ fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done
    That’s what I mean

And this old world is a new world
    And a bold world
    For me

Stars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
    Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

    Nina Simone

I can’t get this song out of my head today!

Usually I move through ten or fifteen different songs a day…

This morning this one won’t go away! I don’t know why since I haven’t listened to it in forever.

It may be because today is my day off… or my day to work,

however you want to look at it…

I look at it as FREEDOM!

What song is in YOUR head?

  • I am spoiled ROTTEN!

I think I’ve told you that before.

Ben got me an inexpensive underwater camera I had been eyeballing since Christmas.

We took it to the pool last night. We try to take the kids at least once a week.

NO… we aren’t rich, I just have a husband who makes GREAT work exchanges…

    Wanna see what I shot?!?

Tough, I’m gonna show you anyways…
