  • Fruits of My Labor

    cardinal in the works 001.jpg

This is the piece I worked on today.

Here it is all cut out and foiled and tacked together.

    I did that yesterday.

The wood thing under it is my lazy susan, it has paint all over it because I use it for many things.

The susan allows me to turn the piece as I am adding lead to it.

I get out my flux, my lead, and my soldering iron and go to town.

First I put a layer of lead on the entire piece…

Then I go back through and do it AGAIN…

I try to make the lines as smooth as possible.

This is what it looks like when I am done with the second layer on one side…

It takes me about an hour and a half to finish one side.

Then I flip it over and it looks like this…

    and I begin again.

I still need to paint the cardinals and the lines on the birch tree.

I’ll show you that part tomorrow if anyone wants to see it.

The cardinals isn’t my favorite piece.

They are what people want though.

    They sell for 169.00 each.

After this piece I am going to do something I want to.

Some of you have asked me if I do commissions.

I do, but don’t feel any pressure to ever buy anything from me.

This site is just for my own entertainment, I don’t want you all to think I am begging you to buy my things.

I just like showing you what I am doing.

    Have a great weekend.

    Ang

  • This is awsome

I do not think I would have much patience if I did this,   art and makes have never been one of my strongest subjects

  • very cool stuff angi!!!!

  • love it. love love love.

  • Neat. Is the blue and green on the glass or on the lazy susan underneath? (I can’t decide.)

  • cardinals are pretty! and they’re the VA state bird. If you ever take some kick-ass photos of daffodils or do any daffodil art I’ll show it to my dad and he’ll prob. buy it for my mom. She’s kinda obsessed. Especially w/ jewelry or stand-alone desk art.

  • omg! at first i thought it was a CAKE! looks delicious, i mite add.

  • Art at it’s finest!
Very beautiful and you are one talented chickie.

  • that is beautiful and you have a real talent.  You saw the Indian style lamp stain glass that my hubby’s dad made, right?  I posted once. He also did a small lamp for me with Roses and then an oval glass piece with yellow roses cause when the hubby came for our first date he brought me a dozen yellow roses(they sell sometimes on the side of the road).

  • You are so talented. I wish I had a cool hobby besides blogging. You have a cool hobby AND you blog. Awesome.

  • It is beautiful. I’ve always been fascinated with glass blowing, but never did anything about it. After hearing what you get for each piece though, I may just change my mind! You do good work kiddo.

  • that is gorgeous anj!!!

  • You do really beautiful work!

  • Nice work…is the whole thing painted? or is some of the glass already tinted? Rainy

  • It’s always a drag to make something that isn’t from the heart, though by the looks of it, this is really quite beautiful…

  • that is just beautiful! I wish I were that talented. do you ever cut your fingers?

  • Beautiful Ang!  Do you sell at craft shows?  I like flowers better than cardinals…but eh, we must make what sells…I also do commissioned beaded jewelry pieces, but lately, not so much…sometimes, I simply don’t like what people want me to make, and I HATE making the same pieces over and over again!

    Have a good weekend, dearie!

  • And I like seeing all the cool things you make!!!

  • Hey!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a message, now I feel rude for not leaving you a comment when I visited earlier =(

I love what you made, it made me want to break a plate then glue it back together again but I doubt it would have the same effect as yours. Not to mention the flaming I would get from my parents once they see what I’ve done with our dinner plate =P

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

  • Very cool, and interesting. It’s always cool to see the inside scoop of a person’s job or hobby, although the person doing the showing leaves a lot out cause it seems blasse to them.

  • This makes me want to get around my initial shock at how tricky cutting glass can be.I love the idea of making painting on and with glass. Thanks for showing us the process.

  • So pretty Ang,I would love to learn how to do that too but from a non crabby teacher… sorry that you had a crabby one!!!

  • Looking good Missy!! RYC: I didn’t get bubcus!!!!!!!!!!

  • I’ve always wanted to try doing stained glass work, but I do so many other things that I have never gotten around to adding one more hobby to the growing list…  Looks great, not sure I could do it!

  • I’d like to see the completed piece!

  • Thanks for sharing that, it’s a great post. Sometimes lady, your talents amaze me!
