  • Hee bee jee bees!

We’ve all seen it, the scene in  the movies where a car stops in the road blocking the car behind it and a group of big intimidating guys get out and approach the car  in a menacing fashion.

I was sitting in my car at a light the other day when I reached over to make sure my door was locked. It was an automatic jester and a pointless one as the doors lock automatically, but it still made me feel a little better.

I realized that I have a fear of someone getting out of the car in front of me and approaching my car at a stop light. I don’t know why or where it came from, as I’m sure I haven’t actually experienced it in real life before.

  • I have the same fear. I also am always a little afraid that someone will see me checking the door lock and get offended and then come over to do something. Perhaps I’m paranoid.

  • I had to send that to my brother LOL hey, I think that is a healthy fear and I have gotten to where I get in my car and lock the car doors before I even open the garage door.

  • I think most women should do just that. I know I do, and have for years. It may be irrational, but better safe than sorry I say.

  • hahaha i want a trunk monkey :D

  • Good gesture, to lock your doors at a stoplight-better safe than sorry!!

  • Hmm, that is a weird fear although I do know what you mean. Sitting in a car automatically puts you (or me) in a weird position cause you’re low to the ground and there’s only one way out. If someone blocks that exit then you’re stuck. I suppose if i drove a hummer that may be different.. but in a normal car–i think that there’s something unsafe about unlocked doors too.

  • i have to tell you. this HAS happened to me before.

For some reason, the person ahead of me was very agitated. I drove up behind him in my truck (Which was bigger than his truck) at a stop light. I don’t know what triggered this dude, but he came out of his car screaming at me and started walking up to the drivers side window. I thnk he thought I was a guy. I screamed out the window “come on motherfucker! I’m calling the police now! come on! let’s go!” All the while I was on the phone dialing 911. Mr. asshole got back in to hus truck and sped off. I followed and  was comunicating license plate information and details to the operator. He tried to ditch me, but I followed closely. The 911 operator told me not to follow, but I told her I was going to keep following this person until I see a police officer. We weaved in and out of neighborhoods, we did u-turns in the middle of streets, and I was persistant until I saw an officer approach. The 911 operator told me to give her all of my info and asked me if I wanted to make myself available if we needed to go to court. I said YES!

But I never head back from the police.

Now when I get behind a vehicle at a light, I always mgive myself enough “escape” room if I need to hop a curb or something.

I had another incident in my town where I pulled up at a stop light next to a car with it’s windows down. I looked over just out of habit and two gang banger girls locked eyes with me and started to give me shit. I rolled down my window and reached for my glove compartment and yelled “I’ll blow your fucking head off”! They ran the red light. Sometimes I’m not in the mood to play.

If I did havea gun, I’m not sure what I would ahve done. I probably would have pointed at their heads. Thsi is anothe reason why I”m not 100% comfortable having a gun in my car. I have severe road rage and get to a point where I want to kill motherf**kers!

OK..Ijust went off in your comments section. Sorry!

  • You are in a car.  If someone tries something back up then run them over.

  • Ha….I love the “Trunk Monkey”!

  • I think more people should be afraid of that and keep their doors locked when driving. Not paranoid; but a little healthy fear and precaution isn’t a bad thing…

  • I’ve actually had someone approach my car at a stop light….that’s when I pulled out my gun!!

  • I really need one of those trunk monkeys.

Speaking as a martial arts instructor and a personal safety expert, it is perfectly fine and logical for you to doublecheck your doors, provided you’re not doing it when you attention is supposed to be on the road.

Much better for you to check while at a light than going down the road sixty miles per hour.

  • cute…fear it’s infectious.

  • Holy comment Deev………

ryc: See, you know what helps your kid learn though.  I told her that she needed to figure out what motivates him and she said she’s tried everything.  Obviously she hasn’t if he’s being allowed to have an excuse for hating school.  Ugh.  I need to stop before my comment trumps Chelle’s in length. :D

  • I want one of those to deal with the guys with the bass so loud is shakes your car two blocks away.

  • I’m afraid of bubble wrap.

    Is that normal?

  • Afraid of bubble wrap,,,oh fer pete sakes

I should get one of those for Trusty’s car.

Tell Charlie that I am WAY impressed!

  • LOL!!!
I have gotten out of my car before. It has always been to close the gas cap and door on the person in front of me.

  • RYC: LOL! OP ROCKS!!! Actually got transformers for my birthday!

  • I have that with zombies that could attack me while I’m stopped at a red light.

  • We always need a bit of wildness in its trunk !
    Love

    Michel

  • i’d be afraid of that too

  • I had a monkey once, but he didn’t live in the trunk….of course I wasn’t old enough to drive yet either….He was a damned mean monkey though…..hehehe…this was funny Ang!!!!

  • I do the same thing. Nothing wrong with being cautious. (we’ve all read some kind of story in the paper about someone hopping into the car or whatever)

  • I do that as well….

lock when at a stop light/sign….lock when in a parking lot pulling into a stall..and pulling out…..lock when slowly driving past a homeless person…

    Later,

    Gina
