Today didn’t work out the way I thought it would.

It went more like busy, nap, busy, nap… playtime.

I did manage to get the (future) studio floor painted.

Tomorrow I will be tinting cement and using it to fill the  holes.

The kids and I also glued a bunch of glass globs to the foundation of the house over one of my flower beds.

    That was just for fun.

I like things that are just for fun.

    Kaffe Fassette’s studio door.

    I love his work.

All in all a good day.

I’m thinking about my favorite things again.

Hmmm…I may have to do a picture post.

Tell me one of your favorite things.

What I think my day will look like in bullet point.

I’ll let you know if I’m right.

  • What I’ve seen so far today

The kids and I biked down to the corner to get ice cream.
While we were there Isabelle found another stick bug.

She humored me and picked it up.

It made for the highest point!

She was laughing and begging me to take it off her all at once.

I love her ice cream mustache and beard.

    When we finished our cones.
It occurred to me that there is a barn less then two blocks from our house and I hadn’t taken pictures of it yet!

    So… we did.

The white fluffy things are thistles that have gone to seed.

Wish I had caught them when they looked like this one that was across the street.

    One of my favorite flowers.

This is one of the bird house around our yard.

I don’t know why I haven’t taken pictures of them before.

  • Today I feel like…

    animal muppet

    an animal.

    Yup… that’s me today.

It’s a good thing my children tolerate me.

I’m still hoping for some horrible sentences.

  • The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest

I love this contest. Although I have never entered it, I am  horrible with run on sentences, I’m sure that I unintentionally write things that would apply to the rules.

Is everyone familiar with Bulwer-Lytton? He was a writer who wrote many great things… things like ‘The almighty dollar’  oh and other saying that now escape me but I’m sure I will remember as soon as I finish this post!

If you have read a Peanuts comic and witnessed Snoopy at his typewriter you have seen his work. “It was a dark and stormy night…”

The actual sentence reads as follows~

“It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents–except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.”

–Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, Paul Clifford (1830)

    Nice Huh?

SO they have a contest every year and I was very impressed with this years winner I just had to share it.

Here it is, the winning sentence.

Gerald began–but was interrupted by a piercing whistle which cost him ten percent of his hearing permanently, as it did everyone else in a ten-mile radius of the eruption, not that it mattered much because for them “permanently” meant the next ten minutes or so until buried by searing lava or suffocated by choking ash–to pee.

    Jim Gleeson
    Madison, WI

Mr. Gleeson must be a hoot… to think of inserting a major disaster between the act of beginning a bodily function!

Well now I can never enter the contest… how does one beat that?!

AHHH!! “The pen is mightier then the sword” That’s Bulwer-Lytton too!

CAN YOU WRITE A BETTER SENTENCE THEN THE ONE ABOVE????  What would be your contest entry?

    **************************EDIT******************************************

Don’t feel pressure to write a sentence.

I know how hard it can be to write something bad… Yeah… right.

  • When we went to Harbor days, Isabelle rode the ferris wheel with me.

  • Mmm… yummy.

I purchased one of those little birthday cakes for individuals last night and the kids and I had birthday cake for breakfast! Mmmm… yummy!  I think I’ve had my birthday cake for breakfast fix now until next year.

I worked for about three hours yesterday. It was great! I got almost an entire piece cut out and I have very little grinding that needs to be done. Oh and I learned a couple of new things. I love learning new things at a job.  I get to go back for a couple of hours tomorrow too!

    ***********************************EDIT*****************************

I know I’ve said it before, somewhere… but some of you asked so I’ll tell you again. ;-b

I use a Kodak Z710… but I’ll be looking to trade her up in the near future.

Don’t tell her that I don’t want to hurt her feelings.

I am NOT a professional, but I have been taking pictures for a long time.

Georgiagirl mentioned that I might take my pictures to a local magazine…

and now that she has put that idea into my head,

I can’t stop thinking that it might be something fun to do…

So I will be picking out pictures for a portfolio soon.

What’s the worst thing they can say…

    No…

Well, they could say my pictures suck…

    Hmmm…
