Today we went for a drive so that I could take some pictures.
We took the kids to the Mayfield Pond Park.
It is a true gem of a park that not many people go to.
We saw…
flowers,
and a lot of frogs, polliwogs, and tadpoles.
You can see the little guy on the left has just a nub of a tail left, the guy on the right doesn’t have his legs yet.
Here is a polliwog.
I was thinking about grabbing my boots and wading into the pond maybe even sitting on the bank.
and then Ben spotted this guy…
A northern watersnake.
I decided against sitting in the water…
He isn’t poisonous but a bite is still a bite!
Isabelle caught a little frog.
The kids were loving it!
I love how brave they are.
Daddy was showing them how it was done.
A little closer look shows what he was after.
There were a lot of these guys around.
We just walked around looking and playing and terrorizing the local nature.
The kids waded in the river.
We saw this guy…
He was very small, much smaller then our turtles.
We saw turtle butt…
And duck butt.
It was a very nice day, spent with my family.
If you guys haven’t tried it lately I encourage you to get out there…
It’s good for the soul.

I spent all day with my family(Phil).
But my camera broke after 2 pictures….waaaaaaaaaaa
Oh well…I wanted a new one anyway…..this one is VERY aged.

Trusty always gets a kick out of ducky butts. Like Seedy I am not much for snakes one of the few critters I do not care for.
Summer, water and kids hard to beat a day like that.

I used to call the twins little ducks butts – that was a great post – on our way to Atlanta sunday Sarah and I passed a car with a geocaching.com sticker on it and she says “Oh Mom do you know what that is?” “Well Yes” I say “What is it then” says she “A sort of scavenger hunt using GPS” I reply “How do you know that, it’s a popular thing to do in Michigan not around here” she says accusingly ”Oh well I have friends in Michigan too you know” thanks for the education – I just felt so smart…..hahaha..that’s funny I don’t care who ya are….
