They always say the fastest way to a cleaner house is to have guest over!!
use cookie cutter to make shapes with the PB & J ….Fancy for company!!! Let them see the mess, who cares? Not them probably.
are you kidding? you’re one of the most least apathetic people i “know”.
Clean houses are a sign of a dull mind, honey. Or a sign that Molly Maids has just been to my place! LOL
It all kinda depends on who the company is as to what you should do. If they’re fancy company… colleagues, uppity friends or family, etc… then whip out the vacuum, don’t worry about the dust, and get the kids to cram all clutter into a clothesbasket. That’s what hall closets are for, right? To hide the crap you don’t want to show to “fancy company.” You can find a grocery with already-prepared dinners if you like… ours has fried chicken to die for that if you put it on a pan in YOUR oven… Well, no one has to know I hate frying things.
If they’re family or close friends, let it all hang out, honey! Order some take-out wings or make those PB&J’s; and say “Welcome to my house; it is what it is.” They’ll feel special that you trust them enough to let them see you less than perfect. Especially when you say “I would have cleaned more if it was someone we weren’t as close to as you guys; but I know YOU won’t care about such little things.”
But as a bare minimum… make sure the bathrooms are relatively clean and have toilet paper.

Just be you. That is plenty good enough. I like PB & J.
are they coming to see you or the house?? order some take out…and have a picnic outside.
well you could always go all out and serve ramen noodles!
As long as the jelly is strawberry, PB&Js are perfect for entertaining. If all you’ve got is grape, however, it’s gonna seem ghetto. I’m pretty sure Martha Stewart would agree.
Put the kids to work! Can you do that? What do I know.
Live by the philosophy…it’s us you’re coming to see, not our home. Hope you enjoy the visit and don’t get too worn out in all that last minute cleaning.
What time is supper? I love peanut butter and jelly!
