  • How do you tell if someone is schizophrenic? Never mind. It’s not important, I don’t really need to know.

My daughter is driving me batty and I think it would be easier to chalk it up to a mental disorder then the fact that she’s six? Nah it’s definitely a six year old thing. I hope…

She has always said things like ‘Me want popsicle.’ or ‘Me brushed hair.’ At first I chalked it up to baby talk but when she hit  four I started saying your not a baby anymore you need to say ‘I would like…’ and ‘I did … ‘

You get the point. For a while it worked but recently she has started again only this time it’s worse. Now she says ‘Isabelle wants a drink.’ and ‘Isabelle put her clothes away.’  I feel like I’m living in that movie with the basket ball player Kelly Robinson. You know where he constantly refers to himself in third person…

I feel like hitting my head against a wall here. I keep rephrasing and trying to be patient, but guess what I am not a patient person.
Angi wants it to stop. Angi wants it to stop right now! Angi is pulling out her hair. Angi can’t handle a simple six year old oddity. Angi may have a mental disorder herself. Angi’s going to look up multiple personality disorders just to be sure.

Angi is going to Detroit for Thanksgiving and she’s really looking forward to it. Angi wants you all to have a really nice holiday. Happy Thanksgiving.

    SEE ANNOYING ISN’T IT!!!

  • Just out of curiosity, do you watch “Grey’s Anatomy”? Is she in the room with you when you watch (or watching with you)?

  • hey, ang!!!!! i know what you are feeling……..here’s the cool thing: one day, you’ll pay her back! my daughter, now 13, asked me the question of the ages, a few years ago….i decided to be “difficult” in my interactions with her. she had been pulling her spine out with her teeth over being “too sick” to go to school. after a few ultra creative days of alternative home school, she decided she was well enough to return. although she remarked that she was too old to fall for reverse psychology (which she did),  she was irritated by by constantly pushing her buttons. i simply explined that i installed them, for that very purpose……….you’ll be just fine, when you realize you have the upper hand……………….animal

  • Quinn, my youngest used to talk so fast that you couldn’t understand him and when you asked him to slow down then he would start to slur. He was just tring to keep up with the older siblings, but it started when he first started talking so we didn’t know what to think. It took us awhile to figure it out. I understand what you mean about being annoying.

  • ooh.. that would be annoying and test your patience. Keep hoping she gets over the phase! At least you do not have a boy who went through wearing his sisters dresses, (and not just one dress at a time, at one point he had on 5.. I’m not sure how he did it considering he was 3, lol), all the time! He is 5 and no longer does that, lol.
RYC: Chris and the kids are heading to his parents tomorrow and I will be going there after I get done working. His sister and family are up from Florida so we are spending this holiday with them.

  • Kids, you gotta love um.

Have a safe trip and holiday

  • Uhh, could you delete my comment?

  • Repeat what she should say and then drop it. She likes the attention she is getting from it.

    OR

Just fake like you don’t hear her until she says it correctly.

    OR

she is going to make you a crap load of money because she is going to be famous and Dannielle knows all famous people speak in the third person.

  • Im 6 all the time…..remember on Sienfeld, when George was going around talking about himself in the third person…..thats what this is like, take a vid save it and when she gets on your nerves as a teen, make her watch it

  • Mat can’t wait to see you guys! He started pumping Sammy up about his visitors this morning!

  • LOL! Isabelle likes annoying Angi, Shirlann thinks. 6-year olds, in general, love it when something they do can cause a reaction in others. Sigh. I do NOT miss that age! At some points recently, I might have traded turdboy for a six-year old; but then they’d just become teens again, and I’d be back where I started. Sigh. My only advice: Hang in there. And occasionally get a sitter and go out with girlfriends for margaritas. In fact, come to Atlanta; and Spying_Mom and I will take you out for margaritas! :)

I hope you have a great time on Thanksgiving! And safe travels, of course. Take care & blog when you can!

  • hahahaha.  well, i guess it’s better than speaking about the “royal we.”

  • Izzie and Alex had a patient on Grey’s Anatomy who kept referring to himself in the third person (on last week’s episode), so they started doing it also and then laughing a lot about it.

  • It’ll be a great story to torture her with in the future.  :)

ryc: You don’t have to tell me!  I couldn’t make it through life without her!

  • Jenny’s 5 year old does the same thing.  Jenny’s five year old found a paci some where and won’t give it up.  Jenny’s about to re-instate diapers and naptime in the crib to get her point across.

    Jenny feels your pain.

  • Ok, I would like to be Natalie Merchant, lol. But what if she viewed all of my reasons? She probably would… Anyway, I fluctuate on those matters and perhaps would have let it stand after your appeal, though I certainly didn’t like the wording I used. Anyway, I’m sure there are numerous ways I can otherwise eff something as effectively. I normally do….! peace, JtheP

  • Aaron wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving, and so does everyone else in his/me/mine/my/our head…

  • Momo thinks its not annoying at all, Momo thinks that’s rather very hilarious :) Momo wishes Angie a happy thansgiving with her family.

  • I had a counselor who did that and I said to him ,I am right here ,no need for third peron,I HATE THAT!!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from one Liberty Call Girl to another.

  • Not having kids myself, will not qualify any sort of opinion.  That said, am the youngest of seven and uncle to 12 and a half.  Try to be patient, and never raise a hand.

  • You put a smile on my face. Love your humor. My computer is still down so I’m not on much-since I have to use my daughters computer. God forbid she’d have to get off AIM or myspace for a min. to let me use her computer. I think mine’s shot. Along with almost everything else in the house.Crazy isn’t it! I started to feel like everything I touched broke. Husband started working on all the fix-ups today. need a new motor on the drier. I have clothes draped over all the chairs. Sherri says have a Happy Thanksgiving! LOL!

  • how’s my Angie today?

  • RYC: I don’t know if skipping the teen years is an option. Unless you count military or boarding schools, which have been seriously considered around here lately!

  • six is such a perfect age :) and, challenging.
hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving day!
sending you loads of peace, love, and patience :)

  • Happy TG

  • lol, I think she will learn eventually. be patient :) And Happy Thanksgiving btw!! :)

  • HAPPY THANKSGIVING, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.Philippians 4:6

  • hahahah.  My D1 went through a lisping phase at about age 12, until I threatened to put her into therapy if she didn’t stop.  Anyway, I’d be willing to bet your princess is just enjoying the power her words have to annoy you.  Hope you had a great turkey day, albeit sans turkey.  I didn’t get any leftovers, so I’m going to have to bake one in a day or two as well.

  • I think we should pair her and my Brandon up– they would make quite a team! LOL
