Lessons on the Road
Things I learned on my trip.
-Never speed in Missouri. We saw twenty-two cruisers with people pulled over through the state, and that was just after we started counting, there were several before that.
- Always make sure the heater in the pool at the hotel you are staying at is working…BRR…
-The beginning of November is a smelly time to be traveling in Iowa.(See previous post.)
-If you can’t find what your looking for through four other states, check at home. I wanted a picture of a Belted Galloway cow. They look like giant oreo cookies with legs. I saw them on the last trip through Iowa on a different highway so I kept looking…nothing. We were almost home and driving by Reed City when there they were. Big beautiful oreo cookies. Wouldn’t you know it the batteries were dead in my camera. grrr…
-Always carry extra camera batteries.
Pictures of how to spend an afternoon in Kansas are on the way. Ang

I look forward to seeing the pix!
There is a pig/cow farm directly across the road from me!
Yes, yes, do tell how one spends an afternoon in Kansas without boring oneself to death!
ryc: I was hoping no one would notice the giant bruise/goose-egg on her head. But, leave it to you! She did it walking to the car. Tripped in the parking lot (over nothing but her own feet, I might add) and kissed the pavement forehead first. It ain’t easy having a head like that, you know?
Yea, your home. I missed you!
There ya go !!!! Hey does look like an oreo with legs lmao !!!!!
Well tried to give ya a pic but it won’t post Booooooo!!!! I’ll put it on mine
Well I see you have some poopy comments about my home State of Kansas. We have lots of exciting stuff to do here, watching the grass grow, counting cows while driving, tractor bragging, and lots more, so how could anyone get bored in Kansas?
I went to a couple of your friends and booooooed them for their comments. Yeah Kansas is probably boring to most folks, but we do have some kick-ass tornados.
^^^Why is everyone assuming it was boring? I never said THAT!! ^^^ Ang
Of course I consider looking for cows fun…hmmm…
Glad you’re back. They DO look like Oreos with legs. I have never seen one of those, and I live in the Midwest. Hmm. Your dd isn’t old enough yet, but when she’s in Girl Scouts, you might have to kick yourself for missing the Girl Scout headquarters in Council Bluffs, IA . . . or not.
hell, i could probably find a photo of a galloway south of here near my parents’ place.
Hey Ang. I use Photoshop 7.

I saw the pic of the oreo with legs. WOW! I’ve never seen a cow that was so clean. Anywho… I’m glad you had a great trip and I’m blaming YOU for MY trip to the gas sation in search of cookies….and the 5 pounds I’m sure to gain by eating the whole package by myself.
Cool cow! I never saw a cow like that before. Is this a western thing? I don’t know that we have them in Pa. Can’t wait to see pictures of the trip.
