  • Ahh… Home again. I miss my sister and nephew already but I’m so glad to be back with my husband and the boys. You just can’t please me can ya?!

Detroit always gets a bad rap. It does have some places that are a bit scary but there’s also a lot that’s great. We spent most of the day geocaching yesterday, My sister is trying to get her one hundredth find. (we left with only one short, too many of them were missing or stolen or we just couldn’t find them and needed more hints.

For those of you who don’t know what geocaching is, it’s when you use millions of dollars worth of government satellites to find a tupperware container. You use a GPS or global positioning system to follow coordinates to a place where someone has hidden the cache which is usually some sort of container with little goodies in it and a log that you sign saying you were there.

I enjoy the finding part the most and the kids love it because if you take goodies you can trade for whats in the cache. Even though it’s usually burger king toys or pencils or inexpensive what- nots, to them it’s bootie from a treasure chest.(although I’m sure pirates didn’t leave things in exchange or in tupperware.

I think I prefer to go here in Northern Mich because we do a lot that are woods walks. But In the city it’s a whole other game. We went all over Belle Isle which is beautiful if you ever get a chance to go. We tried to do an ally find but it had been taken. We did one at Western University called “Outside In” That was clever… after we drove around a bit and walked one floor of the building my sister discovered a court yard that was inside the building. Very tricky.  We also did one at the Pewobic Pottery, were they make craftsmen style tiles, bowls, stuff… It has been operating since 1883  and is the only one like it in Michigan, It’s also worth seeing.

Then we drove through Gross Pointe and stared at the multimillion dollar homes that look like museums. Then this morning my Mom, Is and I went to the new Ikea store where I spent wayyyyy to much money, which is why I’ll probably never be able to afford one of those homes. lol

All in all a great weekend. Oh I also saw a pot hole that swallowed half of a traffic barrel. It was something to see. We took pictures and I’m sure my sister will be posting them soon I’ll let you know so you can check it out. I know,of all  the fun stuff we did this trip  I’m in awe of a pothole. All I can say is when you see it you will understand.

Hope you all had at least half of the fun I did, if you did it was a good time. Ang

  • My brother used to live in Detriot. When we visited I was expecting it to be a really dirty city and it wasn’t. Your right it does get a pretty bad rap ,but I’ve seen much worse. I personally didn’t think it was that bad. Sounds like you had alot  of fun, getting home is always nice though.

  • That is so funny that you asked me about Karen Marie Moning! Most people I bring her up to, do not know her! I have her series starting with Beyond the Highland Mist, I absolutely love her books! Her stories draw me in and I can’t wait for the next one to read more!

  • Death rides a pale cow…interesting…

  • Wow….it sounds like you had an incredible weekend.  I am soo green right now.  That whole geocaching thing sounds FUN!  I wanna do it!  Anyhoo….I am taking your comments in stride.  I greatly appreciate your adivce and insight.  I know that I am still in love with this “boy” I know that it is the same for him.  We just have a lot to work out…..and yet neither of us want to confront these issues with eachother… I tried lastnight, when I was a little drunk, Not the time for that…I realize this now.  Because now I feel like a giant ass, and I know that I was making him a little frustrated with me.  Hmmmmmmm……we’ll see what happens.  The no sex thing could be hard to do though.  I will have to sit on that one for awhile….

    Much love….HUGS and GRAHM CRACKERS!

  • Detroit?

I was in Traverse City this weekend.  it was beautiful and cold in the morning and full to capicity with people.

and the Dead Milkmen are beautiful, beautiful creatures.

  • ryc:Yeah I think so…

  • The cat is fine, weird but fine. When I first caught her, I was the only one that she would come too, not my wife or my daughter. Now she only goes to my wife. I suppose because she’s the one that feeds her most of the time. The older cat still follows me around though so it’s OK. I slept downstairs on the couch last night, everytime I woke up, the older cat was curled up behind my legs. So I’m still loved by one of the fuzzy things around here.

  • ryc: thank you…I consider my sense of humor to be one of my greatest strengths….I really do.  I try to look at the lighter side of things.  But like everyone else I do have my days….last night and today being one of them.  Oh well…I am picking back up and starting to get back in tha good mood…

Yeah, I LOVE SPELL CHECK!  I can type, apx. 70 wpm when I am sober…the last time I tested it was something like 68 wpm I think…..but when I am drunk that number dwindles down to about 12 wpm….NO LIE!  I am a horrible typer when I am drunk….You should see how many times I use the backspace.  It is kinda funny really.  I took a lot of literature, and writing classes in school…so putting words together is one of my strengths.  Not that you can tell with the way I use the words tha… and cuz, and cha, etc…etc…etc…

  • Haha… funny about the pothole.

I never heard of this geocaching before.  Who organizes it?  Is there a website about it?

    Cheers!
