Xanga- a dangerous place for cartoon characters
When we arrived there was some hesitation about letting us in.
Our presence was a disturbance to their every day work routine and they value their privacy.
Once they found out we came bearing gifts they loosened right up and welcomed us into their world.
Left to right are Euginia, Natalia, and Stephen.
Beth distracted them with fresh strawberries and home made apple sauce while I wandered the office and took pictures.
Things were in a bit of disarray because they are in a moving process.
That may explain their skittish behavior…(or it could be that they were leery of the two strange bloggers that showed up at their office. hmm…)
Here is a look at the what’s on the other end of your Xanga internet connection.
A large open room separated only by desks, I often found myself wanting to yell across the room to the people sitting on the other side. I am not a free range person, what can I say, I need boundaries.
Luckily I managed to restrain myself, so I didn’t spook the staff.
Okay, there was that ONE time, but it was necessary.
There are several comfy spots to sit.
I think those are Adam’s golf clubs, in my enthusiasm at finding he was a fellow Michigander,
I forgot to ask him.
Besides
It would have been a shame to disturb his pipe time.
There is one enclosed space, they sometimes use it for Office Hours,
a room full of books, all read by John, see, he’s good looking AND smart.
Here Marc fidgets while discussing the mysteries of sauerkraut making and poinsettias with Seedsower.
It looked to be a very casual, comfortable place to work.
Maybe they were all skittish because of copious amounts of caffeine?
I am hoping this is just a random cartoon character and not someone they hung in effigy!
A blogger that was giving them a hard time perhaps?
I was pondering… hmm What would people want to see?
Well inside the refrigerator of course!
We were lured away from the office by Natalia, she used the promise of a lunch with John.
We met him here, had a great lunch, good food and interesting conversation.
These are just a few of the faces we saw and wonderful personalities we met at the Xanga offices.
Some of the people we were hoping to meet were traveling, so we missed them
BUT it just gives us a reason to go back.
I think they took a liking to us.
They let us leave our things there while we
-went off to a Broadway show
-watched a movie being made
-shook the hand of a star,
-ate great food
-took an insane amount of pictures
-spent TOO much money on souvenirs, fabrics, and buttons
and
-almost gave a rickshaw driver a heart attack,
that’s another blog all together.
It was great not having to haul our stuff all over the city,
It was really nice of them to let us leave our stuff there so we didn’t have to worry about losing things,
or someone stealing our bags and going through them…
Ruffling through our bags…
Wait…
I wonder if they…
Nah.
(Like there would be anything worth looking for!)

Our bags were heavier when we left with the tshirts they gave us!
We went back to the Xanga office several times and were always greeted by smiling faces and open ears as they listened to us gush over our city adventures.
So on our quest for the perfect DOOR shot this year,
this may not be my best picture of one,
but it is by far my most adventurous and favorite of the year.
THANKS XANGA TEAM for being,
well,
YOU.

Let me know if they have anything worth stealing, because if so I might make the pilgrimage myself one day (need to cover expenses somehow).
…hope you had a good time.
oh you lucky things!
What a whirlwind tour of Midtown Manhattan! It was the best of the best of times Ang! I have a smile glued to my face ,the twins say “Whatcha smilin’ about?”
I am working on a post…stuck on the name of that building!
I am still quite amazed you met some of the Xanga team.
Fabulous!! Looks like great fun!! But now we’re all jealous, ya know.

How exciting! I love this post, Ang. You made your adventures so fun for us unlucky ones to read! I think it’s neat that you got to see the “inner sanctum,” of our beloved Xanga and the neat people who make it run! Looks like a wonderful place to work, too! Maybe they will open a satellite office in KC and hire me! LOL! Glad you and Beth had a great time in Manhattan and Xanga HQ!

Great blog Angie…..
Great post! I will read it in more detail once I get some REAL internet connectivity. In the meantime, uploading my post is taking me forever! They call this “high-speed?” Maybe in French, “high-speed” means something else…
ohhhh……if you need me, I’ll be quietly dying of envy over here.
That was fun!
YEA to the Xanga team!!!
Hey now, you got Xanga shirts?!? I’m wearing my lime green one right now, as I type. But, my hubby actually PAID for one, which I know makes them happy almost as much as having active bloggers come visit. I have a yellow one too. I’m working on a collection of photos of Shirlann around the world wearing my Xanga shirt. So far I have Paris and the Outer Banks. I need more. But I just got it on Mother’s Day.
Where are these people hiding anyway? I may have to plan a road trip up North… LOL!
Love this blog Angie; I am very impressed.

Super duper pics!!! Hi Xanga Team!
(But I think they might have a serious drinking problem!
)
It’s also a good thing they live in NYC… they would be in some serious poop with that guy in a noose here in Louisiana… they just made a new law over it…
Hugs, Tracy

Yip, still jealou you got to go there. But HERES an idea! Since you now have a personal realtionship with them….convince them to give me a job and help me get to the USA! LOL! Thats a working environment I could get used to – although I wouldn’t go barefoot – LOL!
(Don’t know how I would fit in with all those good-looking people though!)
Angi, awesome blog, I am glad you had such fun! (((HUGS)))
Very cool. Computers, books, and diet mountain dew — I don’t need much more than that.
And that cartoon character is Quagmire from Family Guy. I can understand a female hanging him in effigy . . .
Any Panic Room for the Xanga Team?
Great post. I’m jealous as hell.
That is so awesome that you got to go. I bet it was fun seeing the environment.
