I have read all of Maurice Sendak’s books at least once, and loved almost all of them, and I have many of the ones he illustrated, all of which I do love.
There’s just something about his drawings that make me happy.
This book, Mickey In The Night Kitchen, I have read hundreds of times to my kids.
It was always Charlie’s favorite, over and over again we would sing…
MILK IN THE BATTER! MILK IN THE BATTER! WE BAKE CAKE AND NOTHINGS THE MATTER!
Mr. Sendak,
I’m sure you have gone on to a great Wild Place where you will be a King.
Thank you for leaving such wonderfulness behind for me and my children and hopefully my many future grandchildren to enjoy!
Thank you!

Books like that cannot die . They bear our youth and are transmitted drom generation to generation.

Michel
amen!
Well said! (Or well written.)
Very sad.
I…learned something…
Some things are timeless and can be enjoyed for generations!
I never read any of them.
When my nephew was small I got a video of Sendak stories for him to watch. He was adhd and no one could control him. When he watched”Where the wild things are” and Mickey in the Milk he was intranced and I could get him to nap every time. RIP Mr. Sendak.
i, on the other hand, have never read a single sendak book, lol
