I can relate
When I was a kid at bedtime, I used to make sure my entire body, except for my head, was covered by a blanket.
If any part of me was sticking out, a ghost or a pirate would come cut the exposed part off.
I hate putting my head under the covers, I can’t breath… I don’t know how I justified them not taking my head, but I did… and I was right, because it’s still on my shoulders.
Did you have a self preservation routine as a kid?

Avoid girls at all costs. lol Then I met my wife to be at age 17 and I was not afraid of her. lol
I played hide and seek, Ali Ali Oxen Free, cowboys and Indians, etc.
I mostly stayed away from other kids and certainly no parties.

Leap from carpet to bed and bed to carpet – there were icky things and monsters waiting if bare toes touched tile. Back to the wall, face the window when in bed – nothing was going to sneak up on me…
You know that joke:
There is a well-known cartoon where two guys see a bear and one guy
starts putting on running shoes. The other guy looks at him and says, ”
Why are you doing that? You’ll never outrun that bear.” And the other
guy says, ” I don’t have to outrun that bear, I only have to outrun
you.”
There were two beds in my bedroom… I would have my little sister come sleep in the other bed… I figured while the monster was eating her – I would get away! Or something!
I think I did, but I can’t remember what. I do remember that my little cousin would only sleep with socks on, because he was sure that Cookie Monster would eat his toes if he didn’t. Hee hee! He’s grown with 2 kids of his own now, and says he still sleeps with socks on every single night.
I had several…hum or sing when I had to go to the basement by myself to get something for my mon (it kept the ghosts away), always having my feet covered in bed (to keep the unknown entities in the dark from tickling them), to name a couple. : p
I never ever let any part of my body hang over the bed…there were monsters that would grab me and drag me under the bed if they could! Also needed to be covered to sleep…still need to be covered to sleep.
i always faced the door to my bedroom

About lying in a bed at night , I love also having the covers to my ears and well tight on each side It is so comfy!

yeah i guess we all did something like that. i hated the closet and under the bed!
@mercyless1 – i still have to face the door… Even when in a resturant, i hate having my back to the door. Too easy to get ambushed.
