  • I’ve been doing a bit of hooking…

Not that kind of hooking… I thought you all knew me better then that!

    Crocheting!

I’ve known how to do the basics for a long time and occasionally I would whip out some scarves for Christmas using single crochet stitches… very basic stuff.

But I have been on a bit of a self improvement kick and I thought I should probably learn how to read patterns…

So I did… it’s like knowing a secret language, being able to read crochet patterns… I like it.

     I haven’t taken pictures of anything I’ve done…

*gasp* I know! Me not taking pictures!

For Christmas I made six pairs of the cutest bunny slippers ever, and of course I didn’t take pictures…

I’ve made a few  hats and some bags… no pictures. *sigh*

    I will start taking pictures.

Getting a picture of this one wasn’t easy, getting Cooper to stand still for a picture tonight was painful!

A viking helmet! It’s a little big for him, but he likes it that way.

Isabelle posed for me because Cooper wouldn’t sit still, finally I snatched it off his head and put it on hers…

(This is how she looks often these days… talking to  friends.)

Cooper wanted his hat back so he finally sat still. Gotta do what ya gotta do!

I found this pattern on Etsy from this shop…

    Mamachee

She has some great stuff. I can’t wait to make the other patterns I got from her…

    and I WILL take pictures…

I WON’T however subject you to all of them…

ALthough I have 27 more days to get through!

SO Have you made anything or done anything crafty lately?

  • yay – I’ve started carving an old dead red bud tree limb into an alligator – the going is slow I need to take before and after shots…this was good ang – ilym

  • It is nice that you are hooking up. Many gals in my family did that. When I was a little boy, my mother taught me how to sew designs on very nice material and use it as  a table cloth. It took a long time to do it, but it looked good.

  • I’ve done artsy but not the crafty – yet. Does mending count?? I have to hem some pants and tack the lining back in a raincoat…

  • My son would love that hat! He’s got a thing for hats. And mustaches!

My latest craft (which was way back in January) was making a wreath out of pages from an old book. It came out great and involved little skill other than glueing, which is about all I can handle!

  • Lovely hats! I don’t know crocheting but it’d be grateful if someone can teach me this.
I’ve been working on making covering for my schedule book using my own old clothes. (cotton one) It takes time but lots of fun! :)

  • Love the hat! Does being crafty count? Lately I’ve been too busy going in circles but every once in awhile I have a crafty thought!

  • Haha, I knew it wasn’t that kind of hooking but you had me there cause I didn’t know what you meant. Love your hooking.

  • Learning the language and how to read patterns is a huge help! I taught myself from a book 33 years ago (I still have that Reader’s Digest book that had everything in it!) That is a cool hat! I’ve been crocheting baby blankets, pot holders and afghans lately.  My new thing is teaching myself how to sew.  I’m finding the videos on YouTube to be very helpful.  There’s one lady on there I like alot for crocheting.  Here’s her info in case you’re interested~http://www.youtube.com/user/tjw1963   Have a great weekend!!

  • @Iloveaholiday - Thank you! I will check that video out. I use Youtube a lot too… It in invaluable!

  • that kicks ass, i want one!
