  • I have a new toy.

    fisheye monsters

A fish eye lens for my camera.

    fisheye feet

    The obligatory feet picture.

    fisheye cooper feather boa

I haven’t gotten to use it much yet, but I did get to harass the kids a little with it.

    fisheye feather face

    Cooper and Grandma

    fisheye charlie face

    Charlie face…

He is going to hate that I posted this.

    fisheye road and trees

I was trying to get more curve to the trees… I need to play with it more to figure out how to use it advantageously.

    bakery fisheye

I don’t think I’ve ever posted a picture of the bakery before so…

    Here’s the bakery.

I know it’s kind of a silly thing, but I’ve always wanted a fisheye.

I’d considered buying a toy camera, but I hated the idea of going the whole film route, I am a digital gal through and through.

It was well worth the thirty dollars it cost me. I will get that in enjoyment from it in no time.

What kind of toys do you have?

  • Those are some good looking feet you have there.

And no, I don’t say that to all the other women.

  • The obligatory feet picture reminds me of when we look into glasses that are too strong, and everything is wonky! HA!

If you wanted curvy trees, then you should have used my horrible smart phone camera. (Glad I changed phones and don’t use that camera anymore!) But I didn’t have my real camera in uptown Charlotte, and took some pics… some of the buildings looked like they were bendy buildings!

Have fun with your new toy! It is cool!

  • only $30? sweet. the closer you get to the subject, the more curvature there is. so yah, you’d have to get closer to those trees, but the view would be different

  • I just have a point and shoot now, but back in the days of Fuji film and camera bags the size of suitcases, I had nifty camera and wanted a fish eye lens so badly! Love that first photo.

  • My new toy is a serger!

  • i like it!! keep them pictures coming :)

  • Hmmm…. I don’t think I have any toys other than my computer, and hubby just gave me more memory which sped things up a bit! YAY!

  • It’s a fun effect.  But how will you use it, so that it’s more than just a special effect?  Ahhh… there’s the challenge!  My latest toy is a flip video, which is great fun.  But I don’t have enough memory to keep the gigabusting video clips on my computer or load them onto DVDs!  Hey, I like that word, gigabusting.  That’s a keeper.

  • I’m glad you got this new toy….I got to see your long lost kids and your feet!  And the bakery!  I’d have to say that my 5 month old dog is still my newest toy but I want a golf cart.  Regretfully, golf carts are a little more than $30.  Peace

  • Where in the world did you find a fisheye lens for a Nikon for only $30???????? Sweet deal! Have fun with it!

ps: Charlie’s going to pay you back one day, dontcha know. lol

  • Congrats on the new toy! Looks fun. I like my external flash with my homemade diffuser but I always forget to take it with me so it mostly sits in the drawer along with my extra lenses.

  • Only $30. you stole that lens!!! Now enjoy and do more shooting, I miss your photos!!!  I love that first one of the kids together!!!

  • Fish eye lens is really the toy I always want! Haha…glad you have fun toying with it. All pics look funny but cute! Though I do wonder how the fish cope with this kind of eye. LOL.

  • oh boy, a new toy … loved cooper in the mask (or was that grandma in the mask?)

  • totally awesome photos!  so if i come up to traverse city i’m stopping at the bakery!

  • now you can take photos like you’re filming a 1990s rap video!

  • I have this battery operated…. Oh? You didn’t mean THOSE kinds of toys..

  • That’s a great mask Cooper has!

That’s a pretty cool lens too. I can’t wait to see more of your photographic experiments!

  • I love it! I still haven’t figured out all my camera’s features.

  • @TheTheologiansCafe - That’s not what I hear… ;-b  It’s funny when I took the picture I was thinking Dan is going to hate my socks.

  • @Carolina_Is_In_My_Mind - Thank you, it is pretty cool… I would have liked your phone camera too, as long as you know it’s going to come out wonky. lol

@Donna7 - Serge on! I hope you make lots of great things!

    @Renatojr3 - Thank you!

@DanishDoll - YEA! For more memomry! What a nice hubby you have. Of course he would have to be to get YOU!

  • @windupherskirt - @ideaguy - IT is a keeper… I’m afraid I wouldn’t know how to use it though! The word I mean, not the lens. ;-b

@shellisland - Your new toy better be giving you lots of loving after knocking you off the porch! lol  I can totally imagine  you toodling around in a pale pink golf cart with light green leather seating… the horn has to be a HUGE honk though… none of those tiny little beeps for you!

@starrynite45 - I wonder if maybe they need that kind of eye to watch for preditors. lol

    @windupherskirt - That’s a Cooper beast!

  • @the_fur_pimp - You will drive right by it if your going to Suttons Bay… I’m there until noon everyday but Tuesday and only until nine on Saturday… I’ll keep an eye out for you… Should I say hi Bob! Oh… Right across from the bakery is good parking too since we’re only about ten blocks from down town and the fish weer is five so you can stop on the way and check the fish in the river!

  • @MomGoneMadd - HA! I knew someone was going to say that and you were at the top of the list to be THE ONE who would!

  • @Gizzella_Orangespunk - Thank you! IT makes taking them fun again.

@beli_grrl - That’s ok B. I don’t even know half of mine either… Maybe this years PPS will inspire you to learn some of them! lol What are you shooting with now?

  • @angi1972 - An Olympus Tough. Supposedly will be available for use by cockroaches post-apocalypse– but it froze on me at 10,000 feet and 10 degrees a few weeks ago. I had to remove the battery and put it back in to restart it. Hopefully just a glitch. It has a ton of settings and I’ve played around with maybe 1/3 of them. We only got it about 6 weeks before Mike got his cancer diagnosis and our lives turned to crap. But I still plan to learn to use it eventually, esp as I plan my mountain sabatical.

  • @mercyless1 - I finally figured that one out… I am digging the wide angle on it too, It’s weird the way I can be standing in next to something and see it in the lens… at least when I’m using it no one will sneak up on me. Next bog purchase a macro, I didn’t get the Sigma I wanted, the biddng went way out of hand, for a new one it cost four hundred and the bidding went way over that… So I bought the cheap little Nikkor, It’s actually handy, but no Macro. I put the rest of the funds away and I’ll get it later. HOw you holding up in the snow there?

  • @angi1972 - you can always count on me Ang…

  • @beli_grrl - That is a tough camera! You are going to like the PPS this year then… one of them is going to be Horizon lines… shhh… I haven’t told anyone yet… In the mountians you will have lots of fun ones. I’m excited that you get to go.

  • @RizzlGrizzl - OOO Yea! This is the first time I regret not having video on my camera!

  • I got a deck and real live stairs so now taking Tucker out is so much better!  I’m going to let my husband know the cart will have to have a giant horn but I don’t know if he’s going to go for the pink & green (I am a huge fan of spray paint though).

  • Fun stuff!

  • This fish eye lens gives an am amazing effect like with a curve mirror .
I am sure Ang, if you picture a ” French baguette ” with this “toy” you will get a croissant ( crescent)
    Love
    Michel

  • Pic #6 looks like a snow globe.  Lovely.

  • I want one! Fins me one,I love these!! Miss the kids, your Ma and you!

  • COOL!!!  I want one too!!

  • I don’t even know what the pps is this year mornin glorie   is it horizons?  I’m glad you got a new lens….I was really missin your kids!  And you too of course…I don’t have any toys like yours either   but I did learn a new emoticon thing on the computer

———-<    Oh Hell Fire – it’s suppose to be a fish – but for some reason it won’t post up – never mind – FINE –

but….we should whistle and go fishin in the heavens   ilym

  • Wow, those are really nice and I’ve never been a big fan of the fish eye image. My iphone is my pacifier. You know,  don’t really have many toys :(

  • I have too many toys, and yet, I still want more… like the bumper sticker says, “He who dies with the most toys, wins.”

  • i thought fish eye lenses were supposed to be super wide-angled? These pics don’t appear to be. I could be wrong.

  • Nice toy! It reminds me a bit of the really weird film “being John Malkovich”. They had fish eye vision in some scenes.

  • My husband has a Nikon SLR.  I’d love to get a fish eye lens for it some day, but he wants a 300mm lens for his birdwatching (can you say ka-ching!).  I’d love a macro lens, too.

I bet you’ll have fun come spring with that lens, what with fresh blooms and sprouting leaves to take pictures of!

  • I like all of them but the bakery one a lot. My toys are just my paints, pencils and paper mostly.

  • @crO_Oner - Oh no, your right, it is a very wideangle… it’s just that when you take pictures of things up close, it bends and distorts them… which is kinda what I was going for. The bakery though, with my normal lens you wouldn’t see the neighborhood around it… I’ll have to see if I can find something to shoot that shows off the wideangle aspect of it.
