Lessons learned
A friend of mine asked me to take some pictures of his band this fall.
They are called Of One Accord, they play blue grass and gospel music. Beautiful music.
This is one of my favorite shots.
I have learned that if I want to take people pictures I need to get a little less inhibited and maybe a little more willing to be bossy…
I also learned that if people pay for your services they will value them more, from now on I am charging, even if it’s just twenty bucks for gas.
(This is in no way a reflection on the band, it’s just something I observed doing favors this year.)
Those are my major lessons learned, now if I can just figure out how to implement…
What’s something you learned this year?

that i can only work on me. my hubby keeps falling off the wagon and i finally learned i can only focus on my recovery, not his.
I learned that I forgot more than I have learned.
@jtqueenbee30 - That’s a HUGE lesson… and a good one. (hug)
@Aloysius_son - I was going to tell you something but I forgot what it was! ;-b
I have learned to be bold. A passive picture is a boring one-esp where people are concerned. Come to think of it, nature isn’t good at it either.
I have learned:
to not cook bacon naked
one can mix nearly anything with Sailor Jerry Rum
my beard is my best friend
life could always be worse, unfortunately it can also always be better
I LEARNED THAT IF YOU TELL PEOPLE TO BUNCH UP AND GET CLOSER ITMAKES A BETTER AND MORE FUN PHOTO-
Great photo. I like the hand in the foreground.
I learned our social or biological life is like a garden and needs permanent attention . To be frand this is a also e permanent learning .

nice shot! really loved how the colors play.
lesson learned this year? never too trusty because people would make you a fool if you’ve been very open to them.
A wonderful picture! I love it. And I learned that more people will comment on a post if you end with a question. Don’t you think that’s true?
Don’t spit into the wind
Don’t try to take a bone from the dog
Don’t get between a buck & his doe
I learned that God really will get you thru what you didn’t think you could get thru yourself.
I learned that no good deed goes unpunished but do them anyway; it builds character.
A local woodworker/artist, Sam Maloof once told another craftsperson that she was pricing her work too low. She responded that if she charged more she wouldn’t be able to sell them. Sam’s brilliant wife taught him that he could sell twice as many if he raised the price. People value what they pay for. There is a waiting list for his $10,000 chair. (Now that he’s dead, those chairs are probably worth twice what folks paid for them.) NEVER undervalue your work because others will do the same.
as ruth brown, an old blues chantuse once said, “if i can’t sell it, i’ll just keep sittin on it” !
@ideaguy - I do! I do think it’s true. :-b
@judyrutrider - When I work the farmer’s market during the summer, the organic farmer next to me always makes it his goal to have the highest price there, he says people think that he has higher quality gods then… and he’s right, they buy it!
Just one thing? Man! That’s hard! OK… I learned that the Danish word beskytte means “to protect.” When you live in a different country, you are always learning! Nice picture of the band. My sister has been doing a lot of photography for free. I tell her she needs to start charging — even if it’s just a little.
that a year can spin by really fast…while you’re still standing in the same place, holding the same unread book, with the same look of bemusement on your face.
Good lesson; great picture.
I learned to say “no” at work and not feel bad about it.
I learned that sometimes as good as your intentions are, sometimes people still don’t want to take good advice and there’s not really anything that you can do about it.
I have learned that appearances can be surprisingly deceptive.
