  • Some of what I saw…

To get to Onaway, we have to drive along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

    rock with a view

    I saw a lake.

It is such a hardship getting glimpses of all that rough water and blue sky.

Of course we had to stop and do some Petosky stone picking.

Ben is a master at finding them, but he wasn’t with us, so we didn’t find any.

    We skipped stones instead.

    lonely skipper

    I saw a lonely skipper.

    Charlavoix lighthouse

One of the towns we stopped in was Charlivoix, a tiny harbor town.

    I saw a lighthouse.

    touch of fall steeple

I saw a touch of FALL.

    water ways

I saw water tracks in the sand.

    Hemingway never ate here
    I saw this sign.

    HEMINGWAY NEVER ATE HERE

This part of Michigan was a Hemingway hang out, so it is funny to see someone NOT claiming him.

    yellow swings

    lonely boy

I saw my children struggling against the wind and loving every moment.

    taking it in

I saw them taking it all in and loved that they love it.

We also stopped to have yummy food and visited play grounds.

We went to Chillerama, a book store for Charlie’s favorite author and we stopped at three toy stores and specialty shops. It was a full day and I can’t wait to do it again in the summer!

    NOW you know the drill…

    TELL ME WHAT YOU SAW!

  • Beautiful!

  • gorgeous on all levels!

  • Lots of great pictures, but I love the swingset with the water in the background.  Great color contrasts.  Yesterday, I saw a wall of pumpkins outside a store and thought it would be a great shot if I could lie down on the ground and shoot straight up…..but alas, no camera.  So, I saved the locals from having to step on me as they reached for their pumpkins!!!

  • i’m so jealous that you have so many cool things to go shoot.  i would sooooo love to shoot out there!

i saw my coffee shop hottie :)

  • Wow, that looks beautiful!

Did your kid get up there with dry feet?

  • I saw….your beautiful pictures once again!  Looks like you guys had fun even without finding Petosky stones!

  • what a great trip… and you kids are so lucky to have you to spend this time showing them new adventures everyday!

  • You have to do what you have to do to get attention.  If you are somewhere that everyone is claiming Hemingway then you don’t claim him so that you can stand out.  If you live somewhere where everyone wears tiedye then you wear a suit and tie to stand out.

  • Love them, especially the hemingway non-fan.

  • @nattata - @apaintingbychagall - Nope… they were wet. We always carry dry socks in the car though, so it was all good .

  • Absolutely breathtaking…… thanks so much for sharing these pics with us. In this fast paced hectic day of mine, that was just like taking a breath of fresh air. :) smiles to you

  • I see snapshots of life through your eyes.  And they are wonderful snapshots!

  • You were shivering in the chill of the wind in front a unexpresssible landscape . At the opposite your pictures say the all .

    Love

    Michel

  • I took my 5 year old boy on a 4 mile walk and saw so many wonderful things I’m going to blog about it later today. The best part of the day was that he was still smiling and happy when we were done.
