  • What to do?

When you NEED to take pictures…

    but gas prices are INSANE.

Go outside and find a tentworm that escaped the massacres…

Then ask him to pose for pictures.

For his cooperation, release him with his life.

Well that and we don’t  want to squash him in front of the three year old.

    THEN…

    dew on grass.jpg

You lay down in the wet grass and look for anything interesting…

    Anything… anything at all.

When it doesn’t show up, you go back inside,

    get dry clothes on,

    drink hot chocolate,

and hope gas is cheaper tomorrow.

  • I love this post. From beginning to end. :)

  • I was laying down in the alfalfa last night watching a grass spider build her trap for the night. Love the dewdrop pictures!

  • I love the dew drops.  I can do without the creepy crawly.

  • Or….you go shoot a wedding and hope you don’t eff it up too bad :D

  • oooooooh. Love these!

  • Great pics.  Love it!!     It’s the simple things in life, isn’t it!!

  • Nice pictures…you could also get a bike and cycle everywhere…that’s not too far.

  • Great post!  I took some new photos last night I need to get on here, and I am driving near Little Rock today, so I am thinking about doing some exploring in downtown and taking some photos.

  • I love this post. Very simple with beautiful pictures. I have been guilty of killing a bug in front of a child.  It was a spider after all.

  • Ang,you never cease to amaze me,I love what you see ,how fun it will be to go on photo shoots together!!!!
I cleaned the attic, did laundry, made pizza, watched “Moonlighting” (it doesn’t seem as funny the second time around) and caught a few sunset pix.

  • Oh, but there are plenty of things to be interested in, while laying in the wet grass. The drops of water were the first thing to catch my eye; the blades of grass intertwined like pick up sticks; an immense jungle in the world on which we walk; home to so many different, tiny life forms; canopies for the insects; flowers, blades and leaves on which to feed; spheres of water droplets to drink from… and nothing in that world, within our world, is concerned about the price of gasoline!

I love the simplicity of this post, Ang! Nice job.

  • My kids think its hilarious to flush bugs down the toilet.

    I love the pics!!

And yes, gas prices are insane….

    ggrrr

    *HUGS*

  • Simply beautifully done!! It’s the small things that are the most wonderous, after all!!

  • @Danth - Everything has poetry for you doesn’t it? I LOVE that! (hug) ang

  • I love this post!!

I think I must be a bad mommy! When my kids were three, they LOVEd squashing those nasty tent caterpillars! Then we would have to listen to their discussions about the color of the GUTS! Good times.

  • I like this post :)   Nice pictures hehe.  Gas doesn’t concern me too much most of the time.  Even if I had a car right now, I’d still ride the bu s:)

  • beautiful!

  • Lovely water drops.

  • Well, you made MY day. Thanks, Angi.

  • @forgottenphoenix - one summer, many years ago, when my boys were young, our vegetable garden, and, worse, yet, my flower gardens, were being destroyed by slugs. Knowing nothing about Diatomaceous Earth, and not about to waste a perfectly good can of beer,  I’d grab the garden shears every morning and play the AVENGING ANGEL – yes! complete with sound effects and “super hero” music (don’t ask) much to my boy’s delight. They grew up just fine, thanks – alright, maybe they are just a teeny tiny, little bit twisted, but I’m sure it is a generational thing….Sandra, laughing . . .

  • @BianchiStreet - Psst… We used to take great delight in running around the house with a shaker of salt and salting all of the slugs… we took such glee in watching them… shrivel up and ewww…

Hey have you ever stepped on one of those suckers bare footed… they are heck to get off!

  • @angi1972 - yes, we did too “I’m meelting, I’m meeelting…Who ever thought a little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?” but what a nasty mess (like cutting them in half was pretty) . . .oh, those were the days! Sure knew how to show my boys a good time!

    Sandra, laughing…laughing….

  • Great photo spread.  If you want to take photos, pay attention.

  • this post made me smile

  • nice..

I hated that worm.. they reaaaallllyyy get to me.. but this was a good read..

  • You are a very talented photographer.  You can make anything into a perfectly composed snapshot.  I love all the photos and especially the first grass picture.  Beautiful.

  • Great post.

    Great pics.

  • Once again Angie you make my heart sing.  I am so proud of the work you do.  Just maybe one day I will get one photo that is 1/2 as good as yours!  I keep hoping if is genetic and somehow it is in my blood too. LOL  But, I’m not sure thats so!  I think it is ONE of your talents that make you special.  – Mary

  • Loved the grass picture! I heard rumors that gas was going to get up to $4 a gallon this summer sometime….. well, long before summer weather, prices went up and over that $4 mark. It’s disgusting and frustrating and I know it’s cut down my outings quite a bit.

  • The more I read here the more I think we are related somehow…

  • Hehe.  So cute!

PS I answered the question in my comments section, but it was a reply to my brother’s similar question.  Did that make sense??  ;o)

Anyway- I sometimes use an umbrella, but most days it has just stopped raining.

  • The world and its wonder starts from your doorsteps . So true Ang .
You got a collection of pearls of crystal .
And this joy to roll in the wet grass . So soaked you didn’ t  need a bath . So you saved not only gas but also water . You are a perfect environmentalist .

However the hair of this caterpillar may be irritating .

    Love
    Michel

  • i like the pictures and your words were good too!

  • I’ve been lathering myself with that stuff all week. My cats are afraid to come near me, I don’t think they like the smell of it, hahaha. I love the photographs, by the way. Very beautiful :) I love kittypillars!

  • Great advice. Now all I need to do is get an adorable three year old and a tentworm. grin.

  • Love it….great post.

  • beautiful and artistic post! btw thanks for your comments!

    -jyk

  • LOL – thats insane!  Hope you have an awesome week, special Angi!  Go check out my blog today – its one I think you would appreciate!

  • Beautiful may have to try this.   Gas is really expensive and I am not looking forward to the bill after Evan arrives in New York……..2200 miles, a 25 gallon tank you can add one and one.  Then by August he makes the trip back……….Me scared.

  • ryc:  Ha, I think you are right.

Ok, so if we were distantly related and I got all the ambition, you must surely have been given all the patience/precision.  If I attempted to do that glass work I would 1: have no fingers left and 2: end up smashing everything to bits in utter frustration.

  • Great photos and great idea of something you can do besides driving around
