I Have A Path Tag… nah nah nah NA naaaa naaa…
So everyone knows by now that I am a geocaching tag along…
If you didn’t know, CATCH UP!
One of the very fun parts of geocaching is meeting people and trading things.
One of the things that people trade are PATH TAGS.
I was lucky enough to get to work with my uncle on the design for his.
It was great fun!
This is what I put together on photo shop, with his suggestions and making changes to fit his ideas.
GoldFinch is his team name, the bird is on an ammo can, it has the year my Uncle started caching and where they are based from. All of the really important stuff.
He then sent it to the company that makes the tags and they send him back a blue print.
I wanted to post that too… but I can’t seem to find what I did with it. *sigh*
This is the final product!
On the back is a web address and a number unique to the tag, you can log it and see where it has been and where it will go…
It’s about the size of a nickel.
My Uncle has had people in Canada and Australia ask to trade for his.
How COOL is that.
Now I have my own to place on my camera bag.

Very cool! This whole geocaching thing sounds pretty neat
RYC: I saw many younger girls holding their sibblings.
Geocaching does sound pretty interesting, thank you for posting a link about it since I have never even heard of this term before
I love the new layout Ang. The tag is designed nicely, that is so interesting, the whole geocaching process.
I have the twins ,I took them bowling for the first time last night,it was fun,a good white trash sport! We even got hotdogs! The people next to us had beer and were in flannel shirts with no teeth,it was like we were in the Ozarks in the middle of Berks County PA.
That is so nice for you, but I don’t even know what a Path Tag is! However, if it makes you happy, that is a good thing!
Hi Ang—I loved visiting you today and learning something new.
RYC–lol, I really do hate to lose games, and I intentionally put down low scoring letters on purpose. Do I need counseling?
frank
How cool IS that? LOL
@dingdongdingbat - I put links on the words I thought people might not know… geocaching is something I think your family would love!
@angi1972 - Your fonts may be a touch dark in color Angi….I’m having a hard time seeing them on my work computer
@TheGreenPanther - The fonts on my post? I was worried about that… grrr…
@angi1972 - Yep, I try to be kind of careful with mine since I have a dark background too…….it’s easy to change though
Hmm, split personality, dissociation? That’s a very interesting idea. Well, unfortunately, I wasn’t that creative. If you want the details they are here:

Stopping by with a Hi… : )
Very cool! I have only run across 2 pathtags in my travels and kept one of them. I’d love to get something like that made up for myself, but have bigger priorities for my money right now (including a computer that actually works well!).
Shoulda known you’d already know about Stumbleupon!!
Have a great weekend!
I can think of all kinds of possibilities with geocaching.
WAY COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
ya know what… i have heard you mention geocaching a bunch, but today is the first time i have actually looked into what all it entailed. (i know, i know.. bad me!!) and oh my goodness it sounds like a blast!!!
very cool…
I haven’t heard of that before…
Cool site!
It is very cool.
When I was a kid, the ham radio bug hit my dad. He had to learn Morse code before he could get his license. He had a Yazoo radio. He would spend countless hours talking with people from all over the US and the world. Often they would trade postcards with their call letters on it. I used to love to sit with him, and help him with it. Even more fun was watching him get those postcards. His goal at one time was getting one from every state. (Which he eventually did.) You know, that is one of the things I would love to have one day… his ham radio postcard collection. (I wonder if he still has it! LOL) My favorite contact was a lady name Sarah who lived in Maricabo, Venezula. We used to talk to her quite often.
Thanks for reminding me of that memory!!!
It sounds like a lot of fun.
@angi1972 Okay, Thanks I’ll check it out when I’m a litle more alert…
It’s really gorgeous–what colors!
I’ve heard geocaching is a lot of fun! Luvthewaves does it, too!
i find that cool…
for some reason, this came to mind. how come you didn’t put a beard at the bird? lol!
that is neat and I remember asking from another post what all the geo-ing was about but haven’t played it yet and sure I would have if I had kids at home
You know… the goldfinch is my home state’s state bird! And hubby and I were both in the Army- so you’ve picked two things we’d think were pretty cool! Just don’t give my hubby any ideas of making this a tattoo! LOL
That is neat! I like the “Where’s George” stamped dollar bills because I can track them and see where they’ve traveled.
I just hit my 1300 milestone at Groundspeak’s latest event, showing off the new Garmin Colorado. It was pretty cool. I love geocaching!!!
The pathtag looks awesome in real life! Good job.
Super cool.
Mental note: must check into the geocache.
I can not let myself do another single “hobby” for awhile. We’ve got a metal detector that’s never been out of the box that I’d love to try though and the geocaching sounds & looks like so much fun. We made fried pickles today! My crew ended up liking them best with just a quarter of the pickle & then we tried all sorts of combinations. Son wanted one with just lots of cheese and he loved it. Thanks for sharing…who woulda thunk it? Peace
Help the slow guy here.
Am I right in thinking that the tokens are stashed in an out of the way spot with the coordinates listed somewhere for people to retrieve them? Like maybe under some leaves or a stone in a remote area?
If that’s right, is it ok or even desirable for someone to find the token and then move it to a new spot or is the point to find the cache and leave a new token from the visitor as a , well, a token, of his/her visit?
Also, do you know who built the Moai on Easter Island and whether that Turin Shroud thing is really an image of the son of god?
Never mind, I’ll just google it all.
Thanks, great post.
(smile)
@Slag_Runner - I have peppered clues aka links through out the post for people to enjoy, unfortunatly many people aren’t seeing them… So like the mysteries of the shroud and the island… my post is causing awe and confusion but still mildly enjoyable.
How are you this weekend?
Did you do anything exciting today? I made dinner for eight people and then took a nap.
Now we are going to color!
@seedsower - Nothing terribly exciting, went to church, had an honorary uncle over for lunch and took a nap too!
I slept too long, hope I can sleep tonight now. I was going to say hi to you last night around two thirty my time because I couldn’t sleep, I should have, you were probably just checking your ham!
@angi1972 - We ate that ham for lunch with yellow beans, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, beets, apple sauce and cinnamon buns and Chai lattes for dessert.
Very Cool!!!! I really want to get into this soon!
Geocaching sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks for the link, I am going to share it with my family…might be something fun for us to start doing. I wonder how much people do this in our area? I’m going to check it out. I have a friend in Illinois who loves to do this with her family. She is the only one I have ever known to do it. I saw a show on “treasure hunting” and geocaching was one of the top things to do. What is one of the coolest things you got when you found the box? Do you have one thing that you leave? or does it just depend on the day?
Thanks again for the link. I think you did a great job on that design for your uncle!!! Very cool!!
@firefighterswife - Hey! Geocaching is great fun… I call myself a tag along because I only really do it when I am with my sister or uncle… the kids love it though! The coolest thing we ever got out of a cache was 20$ for a first of the year find. Usually we leave tiny toys or pencil sharpeners… call cards… sometimes we trade travel bugs… It is really a fun hobby for a family to do, I hope you enjoy it if you try it!
