I LUV IT

This morning the bay was a mirror. These guys seemed to be enjoying it. I love how the one keeps staring at himself.
We had to go to Elk Rapids today. We were going to install a stained glass piece in my grandparents house as a surprise before they come back from their winter residence. It didn’t quite get done though so we will go back next weekend.
Pop and Uncle Jay were working on setting in new steps so they put the kids to work.
My Pop is such a slave driver. The kids didn’t want to leave. MAybe I could farm them out for hard labor to make the extra money for the car.
They were great cement mixers.
Afterward we went down to the harbor. I love Elk Rapids. Ben and I both grew up there. I want this fish. The painting on it is of the bridge to The Island House. Ben and I were married at the end of this bridge. It’s one of my favorite places.
I think they might notice if the fish came up missing though so I will just have to live with the photo.
We took the kids for a walk on the beach. This is Elk Lake. It comes in from Lake Michigan too. It has great beaches some are a little rocky, but there is a beach behind the power dam that is so sandy and perfect. It’s a local secret, so if you ever make it there tell no one I let you in on it. It was such a wonderful day today. These are zebra mussels… NOT indigenous to the Great Lakes… NOT a good thing, but very pretty. NOT a fun thing to step on in bare feet.
And last… but not the least.
Isabelle found a bunch of crayfish claws and Daddy found a crayfish carcass for her. She brought them all home and they are now sitting on the porch drying out. I’m sure they will start to smell soon. She used the carcass to chase her brother all over the beach and torture him in the car all of the way home. I don’t know where she gets her mean streak from. (MUAHahaha)

I really loved reading this entry. Thank you for sharing the photographs and information about your past and hometown. Wonderful! Have a great week!
Sisters can be soooooooooooo mean! Your pictures give me the itch to get back to Superior, just not warm enough yet for bare foot walking on the beach.
RYC it was one of those tiny ticks, not much match room. This is the first time her fingernails and tweezers failed me, she can be mean too!
I’m so jealous that you live there! Amazing photos!! (I like the fish too– how big is it? Could I smuggle it under my shirt?)
I had to laugh at the crayfish– I would chase my brother with it too!!!
RYC its very easy to cure as long as you get it EARLY
I can use this one mega dose as I have had it this time for less then 72 hours, if you wait a year until you are nearly crippled it can take several years to get rid of.
