Once By The Pacific by Robert Frost
The shattered water made a misty din
great waves looked over others coming in,
and thought of doing something to the shore
that water never did to land before.
The clouds were low and hairy in the skies
like locks blown forward in the gleam of eyes.
You could not tell, and yet it looked as if
the shore was lucky in being backed by cliff,
the cliff in being backed by continent;
It looked as if a night of dark intent
was coming, and not only a night, a rage.
Someone had better be prepared for rage.
There would be more than ocean-water broken
before God’s last ‘put out the light’ was spoken.

“It looked as if a night of dark intent was coming, and not only a night, a rage” A rage!That is very descriptive!This poem is breath taking if you close your eyes and picture it!

robert frost is one of my favorites, thanx for posting samples of his genius.
Don’t know anthing about poetry, but the pics of the clouds are neat.
Intersting poem… makes me think of watching a storm rolling in. I love to take pictures of clouds in their various formations.
Beautiful photos! (and I LOVE Robert Frost!)
Wonderful girly!! Happy Monday to you!! Love ya!!!
I love poetry; and I also love Robert Frost. Let’s see, I named my daughter after an American Poet, I am DEFINITELY a fan of poetry! (It wasn’t Robert Frost, for the record!) I’ll give you a clue with her poetry…
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
